I was trying to get that 1.39 rate, had it and entered in something wrong, went to fix it and then lost the rate. I had booked two rooms for the week of Christmas. Now I had the disney itch. We just came back two weeks ago. Dare I surprise the fam with a christmas present of a trip to Disney. DD13 didn't go with us and we were planning to go back next April. My best friend and her fam are planning to go for Christmas and I would love to be there at that time as well. Does anyone go more than once a year who doesn't live nearby?! Am I crazy? I was really frugal with the last trip. Please say it's realistic! Please, please!! :Pinkbounc We spend a lot at Christmas time anyway. That would just be their christmas present!!! I can surprise DH too. (That way he can't talk me out of it!)

I don't think you're crazy. We left WDW last Saturday and I'm in the planning stages of a trip for this October.

Now if I could just get the great email rate they just released, I'd be all set. :wizard:

Of course you are not crazy! I went in jan of '04, dec '04 and am going again in aug '05. I live in CT, so it isn't as far away as some others travel, but it certainly isn't close. As long as you know your budget and are able to go on this trip with out setting yourself back then go for it. It would be a Christmas gift too, so it kills 2 birds with one stone! Do you have an AP? you would save on the passes (plus perks) if you usually go more 2x + a year (for a week or more).
Go Go Go and have fun!! :rotfl:

You aren't crazy! We went May '03, July '03 & Jan '04 to take advantage of the PAPs we purchased. I say go for it as long as you can afford to do it. Have fun planning! :)

Well, if your're crazy, so am I! We went last August and I decided I really wanted to go around Christmas so we could see everything decorated and go when it wasn't so crowded and not over 100 degrees! So, we are planning on going Dec 3-9. Then, when we were looking into ticket prices, we saw it wouldn't be much more to get annual passes and decdied we would go this summer as well (road trip). So we'll be there in July and December. Then, I was thinking, to get the most out of our APs, we should try to go again before next July! Ok, maybe I am crazy. I just can't get enough Disney magic!

I usually go to WDW 3 times a year. I tell myself and dh its because of getting the most out of our PAPs.lol. This year we aren't spending Christmas at WDW because I just don't enjoy the crowds anymore. Instead we will go for New Years and stay for two weeks. You will have a great time for Christmas! Enjoy. :moped:

Are the crowds ridiculous then? Worse than spring break?

After our trip to Boardwalk. We'll have been three times in seven months. No your not crazy. It is doable. Or else we wouldn't of been able to do it.

Count me in as crazy too! Just got back with the kids last month, and dh and I are going this month again! Yoo-Hoo!!!!

I can't not have a trip planned to WDW!! We got AP's last June and haven't looked back. We had gone to WDW prior to getting passes for Spring Break 2004. Since we got our passes we have been 3 times and are planning to go down in June for 10 days. A total of 42 days since our AP's!! Well worth it. We always get room discounts too!
We spent this last Christmas and New Year's at WDW. It was crowded but one of the best trips ever!! You must see the Osbourne Lights and make PS's for the Candelight Prosessional. I actually enjoyed that it was cold in the evenings. It was fun wearing hats and gloves at night and drinking hot chocolate. I'm a big fan of going into the MK after dark- I find it to be more fun- which was easy to do over Christmas since the park got dark around 6pm as opposed to in the summer when it stays light until 9pm or later.
The crowds are bad but it did not bother us a bit. Also if you are prepared for chilly evenings you can stay in the parks late while everyone is leaving because they are cold and not dressed properly. :wave2:

Nope not crazy at all... been going 2x to 3x a year since I was 13 but pls dont ask how old I am and no we are not made of money we just save alot and no we dont always stay moderate and deluxe, we even stay off site as long as it is near DTD :cool1: so Nope I think you are just quiet fine :rotfl2:

Just be sure that the kids will be happy with a Disney trip as a present. I have friends who did that (surprised the kids with a Christmas trip to WDW), and while the kids loved the idea of the trip, they were not too happy about the no presents thing.

Christmas is a big deal to kids. When I was little, I remember looking forward to Christmas all year long. Yeah, I would have loved a Christmas Disney trip, but I think I would have been sad that that was it as far as opening gifts.

And yes, Christmas is THE MOST crowded time at Disney. Many people love it, but there are also many who feel like cattle being herded during this time of year.

Ain't it great to be crazy? (boom boom)

We went Dec 04, Jan, Feb, March and April of 05. We are missing May but only because we will be back on June 11 and staying until July 31! We have 51 nights of heaven. Me and 5 kids ages 10 and under in a fifth wheel, how's that for crazy? However, we are doing it in our camper so most meals will be eaten there plus we have ap's. I have always had a rule about the kids buying something the last night on the way out, now that is going to drive them crazy! :rotfl2: Go! Have a great time! And no, personally, I don't think it's crazy ;)

They aren't unmanageable...but do you have the option of going any of the December weeks leading up to Christmas week? We have gone both during these weeks and Christmas week. The weeks before are every bit as festive...all the decorations are up, including the Osborne Lights, the Country Bears Christmas show etc. The bonus...minimal lines, crowds and stress.

If your crazy so am I. We went in January had no plans of going back this year. Then everybody started talking about codes next to there names so I called and I had one. So we will be in Disney in June and my kids are thrilled.

Absolutely! We live in NJ. My daughter is 9. Her last trip in November was her 12th visit - do the math. We used to routinely go twice a year, spring and fall, until she got into school. Now we only go in the fall when she has a school break. We won't go to WDW during the summer -too hot, and we won't go during Easter or Christmas break - way too crowded. So for now, its just once a year for us. Though this year we are going to Disneyland in August and WDW in November if that counts.

BTW, our record is 4 trips in 13 months!

I don't guess this counts as far away (6 hour drive) but we go on average three times a year. We drive down and usually stay at our favorite Disney Deluxe, the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We were there the week leading up to Christmas and will be there again the week between 6/4-6/11/05. The next trip is 10/21-10/23/05 and the one after that is 12/17-12/23/05. So, no you aren't crazy to this bunch, only to your non-Disney friends...that's another story altogether! :rotfl:

not related to the topic at all.. just want to :wave2: Hello Neighbor... Delco,Pa here...

For us we got tired of crowds during the week before Christmas until the week after Christmas. Yes WDW can get so crowded that either last year or the year before when returning from shopping in DTD we saw the sign to MK stating that the park was full. The park was full several days by 12:00. It was still fun but nows we have opted to go just a little later to enjoy the decorations but without the crowds. :moped:
