Not sure how it affects other parks, as I'm always in the Studios those two days.

2. Is there any build-up to SSW such that Disney Studios will be jammed on the Friday the day before the weekend?

Not usually. Year before last, they had a special Luke and Laura event the Friday before, but that's the only year they have done something like that. Usually, it's not crowded on Friday.

2. Friday shouldn't be bad at all. In fact, if you want to go to the Studios during the weekend, the lines for the attractions will be very manageable.

I've been to the Soaps Weekends only as an observer. I used to watch the ABC soaps but the job kind of got in the way of that. I can tell you from pure observation that the people who are there for the Soap Weekend are there FOR the Soap Weekend. They don't really give a flying fig about riding Expedition Everest 14 times in a row. They will probably say "Toy Story what?"

I am stereotyping anyone but 99% of the people there at the Studios for that weekend are die hard fans. They record the shows if they can't watch them that day. They know the exact date Luke and Laura got married. They mourned when Shell Kepler died. They can tell you all of Viki's personalities. They know all of Erica's last names.

The weekend shouldn't interfere with your plans at all.

Oh, this is all good news. We arrive on Sunday that week-end and my plans have us going to HS around 4pm for the evening.

We thought we could sneak into MGM during the Luke and Laura (2007) press conference and ride the rides with no crowds, and we were (sort of) right. Once we got through the throngs of people, we got on RNR and TOT with no problems at all. The other parks were crowded, but not as bad as I thought. I don't think I would ever do Super Soap Weekend again, but it was a pretty cool experience. I got to meet Thorsten Kaye (Zack from AMC)....good looking AND a hockey fan!!!
