I will be hosting a Disney Paper Bag Album swap. For those of you who have made paper bag albums before, you know how much fun they are to make and how CUTE they are when done! When we are done, you will have 5 MORE places to share all your wonderful Disney memories.
Here are the guidelines:
1. Each book should be made from 3 paper bags of good quality that measure approximately 6x6 inches when folded.
2. Must include at least 2 pull out tags for the pockets, embellished at least once.
3. Must be bound in some manner (tied with ribbon, brads, eyelets, sewn)
4. Background pages should be of good quality cardstock (patterned or plain)
5 Each page should be embellished in some manner at leat once. This could be inking, chalking, stamping, embssing, sewing, handmade tags, pockets, or store-bought embellishments.
Be creative and do your best work. Create something that you would be proud and excited to receive. For samples of completed albums go to
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?gallery=1

We will be each be making 5 completed albums and receiving 5 in return. There will be groups of 6 people (including me) so whether or not you get your own back will depend on the commitment of the folks involved. Here is what I thought made sense as topics but feel free to comment. The books should be decorated and titled according to the theme but each page should have space for the RECIPIENT to add their journalling and photos. For example, if you pick #2 Favorite Magical Disney Moments, page headings might include Favorite Restaurant, Favorite Resort, etc. DON'T include text about YOUR favorite resort.
1. The Magic of Disney from "A" to "Z" (user can add their favorite Disney memory for each letter) - I will do this one-- HavenCruiser
2. My Favorite Magical Disney Moments TAKEN _Ksjhawks
3. What a Character! Decorate with a variety of characters TAKEN- canp123165
4. Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Disney TAKEN - potterphreak

5. One Man's Dream (user can add photos and text)
6. 50 Years of Magic

I am thinking about a late March deadline. I will post the exact date and send you the details about mailing later. These are so much fun to make! If we have more than 5 sign up, I would be willing to start another Group.

In case there is confusion....the "paper bags" are brown lunch bags that we all carried our lunch in to school. There are generally two sizes, one that makes a 5x5 inch album when folded and a little bit larger size that is of sturdier quality that makes a great 6x6" size when folded. They cost about $1.50 for 75 bags at Target.

Thanks, Queenie for the link. That one on TwoPeas is gorgeous. It's hard getting past the fact that your base is Lunch Bags but other than that, it's like decorating 6x6" scrapbook pages. Inside the openings formed by the open end of the lunch bags, you can place, tags, journal boxes, photo mats, etc.
I was daunted at first but grew to really enjoy making them. I just did 25 "Disney Holiday Cruise" albums for a DISmeet on the 12/24 Disney Magic cruise and they were a big hit! :flower:

How on earth do you make a bag into an album? Are there directions on the net anywhere? We don't have lunches in paper bags in the UK. We have plastic boxes with different designs on the front that kids use every day.

If you did What a Character! could you leave photo space for pictures with characters, parades etc.??

Can I be signed up for the What a Character! section. This sounds like great fun!!!!!
princess:.

That's EXACTLY what you would do. You could make journal boxes which could be used for autographs and leave spaces for photos. Also, the spaces i nthe openings of the pages could be used for character autographs if tags were placed there. In order to keep the category most appealing to a variety of folks, though, we should probably keep it to an assortment of characters rather than limiting it to one or two favorites.

Yes, I will use a variety of Characters. Also, are all 5 books the same?
princess:.

Sign me up for Top 10 Reasons. I am sure I will have 100 questions for you, but I will let the commotion die down a bit until I start firing away, LOL.

"We will be each be making 5 completed albums and receiving 5 in return. There will be groups of 6 people (including me) so whether or not you get your own back will depend on the commitment of the folks involved."

What does this mean? Shouldn't it be and equal number of people and albums, and everyone get the same set back?

I am interested but confused by this statement in the set-up for this swap.

Penny

They should all be the same topic but don't have to be exactly the same. It's a good chance to use up items you have and fill in where you need extras.

We are at 4 folks now. If you are interested, sign up by the end of this week-end. After that, I will check the final count and let everybody know how many to send it. You will NOT be sending one in for yourself. This cuts down on the shipping costs so if you want one of your own topic album for yourself, please remember to make an extra to keep for yourself.

Thanks for the Bump.... We will still be able to swap, just with fewer folks. As of Sunday, whatever the number is will be final and then you should each make that many albums, keep one for yourself, and send the rest to me. You will each get the same number in return.
Hurry, hurry......only two spots left!

Well, looks like it is us 4. If you are still interested in hosting, please let me know all the gory details, LOL. :-)

I would love to host and it looks like the 4 of us. So.....each person will make 4 albums on their topic and send me 3, keeping one for yourself. You will get three different albums back.
The directions for making a basic ablum can be found at
http://scrapbooking.about.com/library/weekly/blpaperbagscrapbooks.htm

but I encourage you to go to www.twopeasinabucket.com and search the albums posted there to get ideas. THere are also many albums on eBay that you could look at. eBay also sells blank albums if you don't want to make them.

Remember...you are not making KITS. THis is a swap for completed albums. Three bags,.....which equal 12 pages counting the front and back cover. THe pages should be about 6x6 inches when the bags are folded if you use the better quality larger bag. Adhere paper or cardstock securaly to each page, make tags or some other suprise for the openings in three of the pages, and embellish the heck out of the thing.....but, most importantly, have fun!!!!
The deadline will be March 31 and I will PM you my address as we get closer to the deadline. I would be happy to answer any questions at all.
Sharon
