We have 2 value rooms booked for 8 nights during free dining for 5 of us. We will be eating all together with the exception on one meal where we will eat with the princesses while the boys eat at Beirgarten. So how will this work? Will some credits be on one key, another on another and how in the world do we keep track of it? Is it a problem when you all eat together to give the two room keys. I'm thinking the receipts will be very confusing??

Christine

It's very simple. You will be assigned 8 snacks, 8 counter service, and 8 table service credits per person. You can use them however you'd like during your stay.

For the kids, they will have to order off the child's menu. When you pay with your room key, you'll get a receipt that shows how many credits you have left.

What I like to do is to plan out my itinerary with our restaurant choices and how many credits it will take before heading to WDW. That way, I know that I've used them all. I only do that for counter service and table service meals. For snacks, I just keep track by checking my receipt everytime I order one.

Yes, I understand the credit thing, I was trying to figure out which credits would be on which room key??? I'm assuming dh will have one and I will have one even if the kids are all sleeping in one room and us in the other (only if connecting rooms and we can leave the door open) Don't they have to put at least some credits on each room key??? So if it is just dh on one room key then he has the 8 TS, 8 CS and 8 snacks. My room would have 24 adult TS credits 8 child credits and so on and so on... But then what about when we split up and the boys go one day, the girls another? Or...if they do put them all on one room key then what do we do when we split up? Or if they divide up the credits between rooms then we will have one reciept with the 2 rooms, so how do you know which credit came off of which room???? See my confusion??

Christine

OH...I got ya! Sorry about that.

They should have all credits on all room keys if you've booked both rooms under one name and WDW knows that one room is for the kids.

When we went and took my parents, they had a connecting room. Their room key had their credits. Our room key had our credits. We booked our rooms together, but their room under their name and ours under our name.

Are you sure?? How in the world would they prevent you from using our 40 TS credits on one key and 40 TS on another??? Still confused.

If I thought I would get accurate information, I would. But just because someone tells me that on the phone doesn't mean it works that way. I was hoping for people that have been there and used it. I find DIS to be much more factual than CM's.

My understanding is if both rooms are booked under one reservation number, all the credits will be pooled into one total. Any room key issued as part of that reservation can be used to access those pooled credits. The total credits available (and on everyone's room key) will then be reduced whenever a purchase is made by any member of your family with their card. If the two rooms are booked with different reservation numbers, whoever is in room #1 will only have available credits on his/her room key(s) for the number of people listed on that room's reservation and the same would be true for room #2. In your situation, if 3 of your family were listed on room 1 reservation, those room keys would have 24 TS credits available...the remaining 2 members of your family listed on room 2 reservation would have 16 TS credits available on their room keys. Hope that makes sense.

Ok... that makes complete sense. We are just ONE reservation number so they will all be pooled. We just need to compare notes, I suppose on the day we plan to split up to make sure the correct number of credits was subtracted. We both have exact same reservations at 4:25 boys at Beirgarten, girls at Askerhause so that is the only time it might be confusing. So somehow all of the cars are linked computer wise. Good. So just one receipt should make it simpler!!

Unless things have changed since December 2006 this is not correct. We had
two rooms and the dining plan. Half of us were on one room key and half on the
other. We just would use one and watch the receipt. They always list on the
bottom how many you have left. When one card got close on something we
would just let the CM know that we needed her to take some off one card and
then use the other. They were very nice about doing this.

We could also at any time ask the front desk of the hotel to print out a report
for us to see what we had used and what we had not.

And we only had one reservation for the two rooms. Both were in my name and both
paid for with the same credit card.

Now, I thought this was a screwy system and they should be linked together. If
they have finally done this, then WOOHOO!

So how can I find out???? People tell me not to call a CM as that is worthless. I NEED to know before we get there so I am not hopelessly confused. Please tell me the right answer someone.

It has changed because we were there in December 2007/January 2008 and it worked as the other poster said for our family.

For Example: If it helps, think of it as a credit card. You know, sometimes you have an account with two card holders. Your hubby has a card, you have a card. You both can use the card and make purchases. At the end of the day, all charges post to the same account and they bill you.

So, everyone gets a room key (even the kids). Anyone can use DDP credits at any time. I was the designated receipt holder last trip. You can split up at anytime. This is good for CS meals.

Let's say you and dd go to eat with the princesses. You start with 10 credits. You guys get your receipt. You have 8TS left. DH and ds eat somewhere else. Their reciept says 6TS left.

It's a little confusing, but you'll figure this out. Good Luck

Yes, if your rooms are booked on the same res., all the credits will be on the one card. The last one to eat will have the remaining credits on their reciept.
Just check the reciepts when you meet up later, if it's not right, they can fix it at your hotel. We always have 2 connecting rooms and our credits are pooled together.

The computer system keeps track of the points, not the card. When a card is used the computer updates. So when the boys pay for their meal with a card (any card on your reservation) the computer will subtract that and all cards will reflect that. I would check your credits every night or morning at the front desk to make sure credits have been subtracted accurately. We got charged twice for the same meal.

Choirfarm,

I get what you are saying about the CM's and I understand what the other posters are saying, but...

it might depend on how many are listed on the cards for each room. This will depend on how you or the CM set up the rooms at the time you made the reservation.

1) If your card and DH's card, each read... 2 Adults, 3 Children, you are all set.

2) If the key cards list 1 Adult, 2 kids, on one card and 1 Adult & 1 Child on the other card, you could have a problem.

I had one CM tell me, "The credits are yours to use in any way you like." I had another CM tell me, "You absolutely will NOT be allowed to swipe off more than the numbers on the card, in any one transaction."

So, if the cards are set up as in example #2 (above)... and 1 Adult has 2 children with him/her, but the card list 1 child, he/she might not be allowed to swipe off 2 children's meals.

Whew! Hope that makes sense.

I would call and find out how the room reservation is set up... or call the resort itself, as you get closer to your check-in date.
