We are a group of 3 - that had finally decided on booking 2 rooms with the dining plan instead of 1 room and someone having to sleep on an air mattress. That being said, I am the one that is funding this trip and I was wondering if can have the dining bill put on one ticket and have the credits taken off both rooms instead of 2 bills.

My concern is really the tip - I want to be able to charge the tip for the whole meal to my room, do you think that I can get 1 bill and charge the tip to my room but have the waiter take the credits from the KTTW card (1 from each room)?

i don't think so. they will book and bill each room separately and each room have corresponding number of credits per person.

I wasn't clear - my question is can the food bill for both rooms at the restaurant be on 1 check instead of 2 - we will hand the waiter 2 room keys (one for each room) to deduct the appropriate credit from the dining plan but I want to pay for the tip for the whole meal by charging to my room.

The check have to be seperate but just let the server know to charge the tip to your card

You'll get at least 2 checks per room (make sure to let the server know the room break up when you sit down, so he can enter it into the computer correctly the first time), plus a check each room for anything not covered. When you go to pay with the plan, he'll take the cards and then come back with the "tip" check. Just indicate the total tip on one and $0 on the other (make sure that the total is enough to cover both, obviously :p) and you should be fine.

So, to clarify, since it's early and my brain isn't fully functioning yet...
1) When you sit down, indicate who is in which room
2) When you get the checks for the DDP stuff, give him both cards with both checks and indicate on your check the total tip amount. It may be worthwhile to let him know that both sides were covered on one, but I think most servers can figure that out if one tip is much higher than normal and the other is $0 ;)

Fixed :) (See, that whole brain not functioning part added an extra step. Though I could swear they ran my DDP first, then gave me a check for the tip + extras after... guess I'll find out in a few days :p)

3) When he returns with the "tip" checks, write $0 on one and combine the tips on the other. It may be worthwhile to let him know that both sides were covered on one, but I think most servers can figure that out if one tip is much higher than normal and the other is $0 ;)

Not exactly. Let the server know whos on which check. He will split the checks and present them to you. At that point write in the tip amount on your check. Give both tip books back with cards so they can be run

We just got back and also had 2 rooms. THe server will have to make 2 separate checks and deduct the credits from each room. I just put in where it says tip that it would be a "cash tip" and put the money in one of the books and left the other one empty. I think the servers will figure out that you are charging both tips to your card and it shouldn't be a problem.
