2 reservations to get discount

How does check in and check out work if you have two reservations at the same hotel. My dates are changing and I've decided to switch from AoA to Pop since I can't get AoA for my new dates. Most of the days are within the room only code that is out right now for January. However, my TA said I have to have two reservations since my check in date is 2 days earlier than the promo dates. How does this work? I've never done anything like this before. Is it worth the hassle?

This is pretty common the day or two before a discount starts.

Your TA should make sure the two reservations are linked together in the system. You can check-in for both reservations online and then when you get to the resort the first day make sure they are aware of both reservations and acknowledge you won't need to switch rooms.

In addition, you will need to go to the front desk a second time, to check in for the second part of your stay. There is a small chance you will have to change rooms as well. However, they do all that they can to keep you in the same room. Less work for them that way!
