what is the difference in the fine and not so fine settings as far as ability to print etc...i noticed ( after i had mistakenly set my camera to small fine instead of large fine and didn't notice for 2 hrs) the "not so fine" is lower mp than the one below it's" fine"( at least you can fit more pics per card with the med lower setting than the small fine and it's less mp) so thinking if i was ever short on memory i would be better using the fine of the med than the not so fine of the large...unless there is some other factor i'm not aware of.

and since i couldn't see the lcd screen in bright light i never noticed i had changed the setting..is there anything avialable that makes the screen more readable in bright outdoor light?

Presuming I understand your first question correctly, you want to know which mode is better: a medium fine picture or a large not so fine.

It depends on what you want to do with the pictures. The Large "not so fine" image will have more compression artifacts, while the medium fine image will be smaller resolution.

At smaller sizes (web pages and usually up to the 4x6 size) the medium fine will look better because it won't have the compression artifacts.

At larger sizes, the large "not so fine" may look better because it won't need to be "up-sized" as much as the medium fine will. "Up-sizing" creates a different kind of artifacting and noise in the picture than compression artifacts, and they become more noticeable the more you "up-size" something.

Large/Medium/Small = number of pixels

Fine/Coarse = how much the file is compressed when it's saved (fine=less compression, larger file size, better looking pic / coarse=more compression, smaller file size, less good looking pic)

thanks that's just what i was wondering. truthfully i think the large are a little too large although i havent really printed any out yet but for the computer they are to big.

any one know what an A5-A4 print size would be vs an A3?
