Hello,

We are looking to go to disney dec 5-10. I wanted to get one of the packages. The thing is we want to get annual passes when we get there. I was told on the phone that we can upgrade when we got there and the money we paid would go toward that. Is that true? Also what do you think of the tropicana hotel?

Thanks
michele

quick tip, do not upgrade til your last day or til you use you MM. You will lose it if you do. There are other things too but I have to go. Others will chime in on this.

Hello ~

No opinion on the Tropicana but I can tell you about upgrading ~ we upgraded our 3 day PH's in April to APs ~ we just had to pay the difference, I did so after we enjoyed our MM. Have fun planning ~ we'll be there 12/8-12/11, staying @ HoJo's our 1st 2 nights then PP our last night! I'd suggest making any PS requests you want ASAP ~ we've already got 'em for Ariel's Grotto, Chip 'n' Dales Critter Breakfast & tomorrow I'm calling for Blue Bayou!

I am wondering if it is going to be super busy the week that we are going. It seems like a lot of people are going and the hotels are booking up. Does anyone know? I thought this time was better. :confused3

Thanks for the tips as well!!
Michele

The Candlelight Procession will be held on 12/6 & 7 ~ the Cast Member C~mas parties will be held on 12/8 & 9, expect high crowds for the CP ~ DL closes @ 6pm on the 8th & 9th but CA will stay open till 9pm on these days, our plan is to spend Mon & Tues evening in CA. I would've been fine with a 3 day trip if it weren't for the CM parties but because of these we'll be there 4 days.

Upgrading is very easy. Just go in before the last day of your visit and upgrade. You pay the difference between your parkhoppers and the current rate for the AP you purchase. Then they do your pictures and you're set.
Be sure to upgrade after you use your MM (if that's something you value) and be sure you're aware of blackout dates if they will apply. For instance some Saturdays are blacked out so we upgraded on the Saturday, got in without paying the blackout day fees and had a great day in the parks. :)

The Tfopicana is nice, close to the parks and clean but my family prefers the HoJo so we stay there.

We went this exact time a couple years ago, and we enjoyed it. As a previous poster mentioned, the Candlelight Processional is going on and cast member parties close the park early two nights (the 1st Mon & Tues of the month, I think). That being said, you will most likely have plenty of time to see everything you want, as the parks are really not too crowded that time of year.

We also stayed at the Tropicana last time, and we found it just fine for our needs--nothing too fancy, but clean and CLOSE!! You cannot beat the location! The pool was warm even in December, and the continental breakfast was just enough to keep the rumbly tummies at bay until we had an early lunch.

Have a blast! The decorations are great, and the Haunted Mansion decorated for the Nightmare Before Christmas is so cool.
