First ?: Visiting Orlando either the last week of September or first week in October. I have never been at this time so I have no idea what the weather is like during this season, can you swim or is it to chilly? Any weather info would be great:)

Second ?: We are going for the Halloween festivities and will be going to the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, not sure if the other parks do anything seasonal at this time; we will also be going to Universal park in the day and then possibly HHN. My son is turning 11 that week is he to young for HHN? He has been in many haunted houses, watches PG zombie movies, reads horror books, and has never been afraid of Halloween masks/costumes/decor, etc., and he has been to Cedar Point for their Halloween festivities. I grew up in a home obsessed with Halloween and so he has been exposed to much of the Holiday and all that goes with Halloween. He has watched the You Tube videos and didn't seem to be phased by it since he knows it is all fake. Well just wanted to get some input from anyone who has gone to HHN and if there are other children lurking the streets or not.

Thanks so much, first time here and love the boards!

It has always been really warm to hot during our Sept. - Oct. visits...could be rainy though! You'll be swimming for sure!

Hi mombie, :welcome: to the Dis!

October weather is definitely swimming weather. It is still hot at that time of year, and often very humid as well. Pool time will not only be something you will want to make time for, its almost a necessity after long, sweaty days at the park. When we were there mid-October last year, it was actually a relief when the sun when down because it was only then that it finally didn't feel really hot.

As for HHN, I would discourage you from taking an 11 year old (even one who sounds as well prepared as your young fellow). Its not recommended for kids under 13, and for very good reason. My husband and I did HHN for the first time last year, and it was far more intense than even I anticipated it would be. That is intentional on Universal's part.....they endeavour to provide an adult-level Halloween experience versus Disney's family friendly Halloween party....and it's very, very well executed (and shockingly realisitic). If it were me, I would stick to Disney's seasonal October events for this trip (and maybe Seaworld's as well, as they too are family oriented) and leave HHN for another trip in a few years.

I have links in my signature to various trip reports that I have done. If you click on the one from October 2015, you will be able to read about our Halloween adventures from last autumn (and you'll be able to see what the weather was like, as well as lots of photos from two Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Parties and our first time at HHN). Hopefully that report would be helpful in your trip planning for Fall 2016 :).

Just wanted to add food and wine is at Epcot during your timeframe.

We went swimming on Christmas Eve a few years back. I think you'll be fine.

I have never been to HHN ... but if I were to go I would check out a youtube video or two.
