2 Questions about Teppan Edo

First, why isn't this restaurant on the 2012 Dining Plan?

Second, is everyone seated around a teppan table, or no? If not, is there a way to make sure you are seated there?

it's likely that it will be added to the DDP for '12... it happens every year, the restaurants not owned by disney have to work out contracts w/disney to accept the DDP... i am pretty confident it will be included by 1/1/12...

yes, everyone at teppan edo is seated around a hibachi or teppan table... nothing to worry about there...

however, if you are used to a local or a benihana type teppan restaurant, be "warned" that the meal does not come w/the salad (or soup?) or shrimp appetizer that most other teppan places include... also, fried rice is an extra charge...

I have read a few threads on this and unless something has changed they won't do fried rice at all.

It has to do with the fact that Fried Rice is not traditional Japanese but Chinese.

Oddly enough teppan style cooking is fairly new only stating around 1950 to make Japanese style food more popular for the GI's now stationed in Japan. So its hardly traditional.

We have a reservation for 2/27/2012 at Teppan Edo. My reservation confirmation states that dining plans are accepted. Just checked to make sure. We are on the free dining plan.

I checked UG 2012 and it says that it is, but on the WDW website's pdf of the Disney Dining Plan 2012, it's not listed. Good to know that others have been able to book this with Free Dining.
