2 questions about strollers

OK, I have 2 questions about bringing your own strollers:

1. I have 2 small children (ages 2yr and 9mo), should I bring a double stroller (Maclaren Twin Triumph) or 2 single strollers (Macleran Volos) for ease of carrying and pushing through crowds - my husband and I would each push one

2. If we decide to use the buses the resorts offer to the parks, where do the strollers go? On the bus inside with you, or is there a compartment the drivers put them in or something?:confused3

Thanks,
camtheriot

I only have one tot, however, at the end of the day when you and your DH are loading onto the buses carrying two tired tots and a diaper bag full of stuff, one stroller might be easier to handle. The strollers go on the bus with you, they are not stored. Our WDW stroller is a Maclaren too and I know the easy of folding it up, I am assuming that the twin is comparable to that. Hope this helps!!

I was going to say the opposite. For pushing and getting through the crowds 2 singles would be easier, I would think. But the Volo doesn't lay back, does it? I have one and the single Triumph as well. The 9 month old just may want to nap. By the next trip you will be able to rent one!!:thumbsup2

Just bring the twin stroller I agree w/ the PP about getting on the buses at the end of the day b/c you have to unload and fold before you can bring it on the bus.

They are very young so will be in strolles a lot. If your double is comfortable and easy to push (I am guessing it is because it is a Mac) then I would go with that. This will free one of you up to carry one, that seems to happen a lot! Plus the buses will be much easier.

You or your DH will have to carry on and sit or stand with the folded stroller. So whatever is in the stroller that may be crushed or dropped when it is folded will have to come out. We had a backpack as a bag in our stroller that contained extra clothes, snacks, cups etc. That stayed on the stroller even if we left it parked. Then I carryed another smaller one with diaper change stuff, valuables. My DH would wear the big pack when it was time to fold up the stroller.

Thanks to everyone! Great idea about the 2 backpacks (one to leave in buggy, one to put on when leaving buggy)!

Actually, I haven't purchased the Maclaren(s) yet. I am having a hard time deciding which to get - especially since this is our first trip to Disney.

One more thing, we are flying to Orlando, should I even purchase the Maclaren(s) or just a couple of cheap one(s)? I've heard airports are pretty rough on strollers.:scared1: AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH. Soooo many decisions!!!!

We brought our own double (graco duo-glider..which is pretty big). We went a quiet week ( 1st week of December). The big stroller was a bit of a pain on the busses, but pretty unavoidable with really small kids. I wasn't familiar with those strollers, so I looked, and the double is a side by side. I can see that being a problem trying to manuever through crowds. Whatevery you decide, my suggestion, is try to keep everything organized in a bag in the basket, and make sure you don't have drinks in the cup holder when it is time to load the bus. We were a bit messy with throwing stuff in the basket, and it seemed we were always trying to shuffle drinks, and stuff in the basket, when it was time to load the bus.

I have a Maclaren Rally Twin and two single Triumphs and am planning on packing the two single Triumphs for our trek to the World this November. I am also planning on buying bags to protect them when we gate check them. The bags are sold online and are Gate Check bags and are about $13 each. I am crazy about my twin stroller but the single strollers are TONS easier to push around when shopping or in big crowds. The double would be great for walking around the park but would be a total pain in the shops. Either way, you can't go too wrong with a Maclaren but I would definitely recommend the Triumph over the Volo because it is a little more padded and reclines more. The Rally Twin reclines all of the way back which is nice for napping babies.

What time of year are you going? The level of crowds would influence my decision.

Will there ever be a time you want to split up as a family? 2yo going to ride something the 9mo can't? Or the 9mo asleep and the 2yo going to do a few rides?

I can imagie plenty of scenarios where one of you might want to wheel the 2yo off somewhere and leave a sleeping 9mo sitting with Mom or Dad. Also, for things like waiting in food lines, entering stores, etc. it would be much easier to have two singles.

Is your 2yo a just turned 2 or almost 3yo? Could you bring a single stroller and swap walking/carrying?

I have a less expensive stroller for taking on airplanes (Graco MetroLite). Its been gate checked 4-5 times and yes, it has taken a beating! I would be more upset if a Mac was damaged. But its also frustrating pushing through the airport when it doesn't wheel super smoothly.

Your kids are young so I would take a good double stroller that is comfy for them. The mac doubles are really great b/c they are comfy for kids, easy to push and fold down pretty small. I did have our double damaged by the airlines, however, we checked it with our luggage with no bag to protect it. We will never do that again. Get a bag and gate check it.

I much prefer 1 double to 2 singles. That way one parent can deal with the stroller, one with the kids when getting on and off the bus. Plus, we never split up so there is no reason for 2 strollers. I like having the kids together in 1 place. That way if an adult needs to run and get a drink, go to the bathroom, etc. the other adult does not have to try and deal with 2 strollers.
