Part 1) Can I book a DISNEY property through RCI ?? I could not find any when I looked at what was offered?

Part 2) If I do book a Disney property through RCI can I add tickets and a dining plan later on when specials come out?

1: Yes. They offer rentals (usually only average deals at best) and exchanges. If you are looking for an exchange, you need sufficient points/trade power, and cannot own at (Points)/use (Weeks) an Orlando-area resort for the exchange.

2: Not without canceling and booking through Disney. Rentals and exchanges through RCI are room-only and have peculiar cancelation terms. You can add the dining plan and tickets, but only at prevailing prices. Exchangers might not have to pay the seasonal surcharge during the applicable dates, but rentals probably do.

Yes, my parents recently did an exchange and stayed at Saratoga Springs. I don't think they come up much though. Their stay was off season.

This September will be our third straight year exchanging, or trading, with RCI for a DVC. We'll be at a 2-bedroom at VWL...can't wait.

Thats great! So tell me do you just do food and tickets oop or is there an avenue you use for that?

Also, I am only finding that RCI does weekly rentals, do you ever do more than 1 week? We are doing 8 days so not sure what to do about the extra night?

not the previous poster, but i'll jump in as well.

the DDP doesn't work for me so i prefer OOP. RCI trades can add the DDP for the standard rates. like normal DVC stays, you can add the DDP without adding tickets and you never have the option of "free dining."

since tickets are not required with the package, i would buy tickets from undercovertourist or mapleleaftickets and save a few bucks.

you can add an extra night from disney directly (if available) or try to rent a 1 night reservation from a DVC owner and try to have the two reservations linked together so that you don't have to move (you would still have to check out and back in, regardless, i believe.)

I buy tickets from Undercover Tourist, with the MouseSavers discount. I pay OOP for food, because the dining plan does not fit my needs very well. If I have two trips in a calendar year, I get an AP and a Tables in Wonderland card.

All exchanges are exactly one week. Most rentals are also one week, but they sometimes do 3-day and 4-day rentals. You could try to link an exchange/RCI rental with a straight cash reservation, but it may or may not work. If you rent the extra night from another DVC Member, I suspect you won't be able to link them easily: you won't "own" the one night stay, but the Member won't "own" your exchange/rental.

I am a RCI points owner and we recently exchanged into the Beach Club Villas and Wilderness Lodge Villas.

You must book as far ahead as possible for any availability. I booked exactly 10 months out to get the BEach Club reservation. 7 months out I luckily found a Wilderness Lodge Villas 2BR unit available.

I have made a reservation through RCI for our stay at wdw. My question now is I need 1 more night at wdw at the end of our stay. I was thinking I could book 1 more week but, that seems like a waste of my points since we only need it 1 night. So I was wondering if there was a place out there that sold parts of reservations like this? (someone that would sell my other 6 days?)

or just book 1 night at a value resort?

you cannot do that legally. renting a transfer in from rci-
if caught- would cost your current revs. , and from
reading here, is something that both dvc & rci are
monitoring. [ they take away your ownership from the
person too.] so i don't think there anyone that
runs that type of business. to be sure , you might
want to ask daddio, as he rents points out & knows the
in's & outs.

were are you staying? if it's ssr, i would learn the locations
as many here have expressed the location is important.

we're new blt owners, & learning the ropes. i just read on another
thread comments a cm who works @ ssr resort. he rated it
last of all dvc resorts. from his remarks, it seem to be about
location.

good luck in all your planning! are you going to do a trip report?

I didn't think it was illegal to rent out weeks? Thought that is how people get & exchange weeks?

No, RCI is very clear about this. You may not accept *anything* of value (beyond the exchange fee and, if necessary, the guest certificate fee) for a deposited week, or a week you obtained in exchange.

Oh, I see, so I am not allowed to "make money" right? All I would be looking for would be a reimbursement for my fees

We just book a room at a value resort. Take your luggage to bell services on your last day and they will transfer it to the value resort for you. Very easy.

it's not illegal to rent out the week that you OWN - if you are a DVC member, you can rent your DVC stay...if you own a week at a hilton head marriott, you can rent that stay - but it is illegal to rent out what you get as an exchange.

if you trade your DVC pts for a week in hawaii at an RCI resort, you cannot rent out the week in hawaii (for more than the $200ish exchange fee + the $60ish guest fee).

Oh that's nice! That way we wouldn't lose a day touring due to a room transfer! Thanks, that makes me feel better about the change!

We never want to do the dining plans and we pay for the tickets. We have used military salute, APs, YES....whatever meets our needs at the time.

This year we are staying a week through RCI at VWL and added an extra day so we can stay at POFQ- one of our favorites.
