2 NEW ships coming!

I was on fantasy maiden voyage. Even paid for 1 bedroom concierge....which was less than a 1br in concierge now 4 years later.
It was awesome. We got so many gifts and got to hang out with all the Disney execs...iger, Holtz and so many more.
It was just the best.
Dw and I will start saving now.
To book was easy. Same as the rest, we booked morning it was released...18 months in advance. But then about 9 months later they decided to move the sailing up one week so we had to agree to move the week. We did!

My prediction is that the 2 new ships will allow them to sail 4 around the Caribbean/Bahamas during the summer (which is when demand is at its highest and prices are astronomical) and then one in Europe and one in Alaska.

I wonder if Commodore Tom will inaugural sail one last time? He is 68 currently.

Hopefully this works

I do not think you will see Asia. At most you might see South Pacific/Hawaii. Just because North Americans are the predominate audience to DCL. I think you will be more likely to see more new ports like Costa Maya, Belize, Roatan, Limon, Grenada, Port-au-Spain, Dominica, Martinique, Barbados, Guadalupe, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao etc.

A ship based in Asia would be great, but one based in Australia would be even better!!! I can't even imagine what cruising would be like without the huge airfare I pay to get to the States or Europe first.

Oh, wait, yes I can. I could go on at least twice as many cruises! :)

I concur! Having an Australian based cruise would be awesome, although not for the bank balance. Reaching platinum might happen a whole lot faster... :lmao:

How does one attempt to make it onto an inaugural sailing??

We were on the Maiden Voyage of the Magic back in 1998 when the MV was moved a few times due to ship completion delays. Back then we had to put a deposit down 18 months in advance and we did not even know the itinerary yet. We just heard that Disney was planning a ship and kept my eyes and ears open to see when they started accepting bookings for the MV. They actually did a lottery for reservations for the MV. Our reservation was picked for the MV!! Yay! We had never cruised before so didn't know what to expect on a cruise but I knew I wanted my first cruise experience to be with Disney. Let's just say there were some issues onboard but we still had a great time and became addicted to cruising and DCL!

We were also on the Maiden Voyage of the Dream. We just booked when they opened for bookings. Actually our TA booked for us and got us the cabin we wanted. No special trick anymore to getting on the MV, just booking when it opens for booking.

Many people do not like cruising on MV's and they can be cruises where they are working out the kinks and staff is getting to know their routines, etc.

Many people like to wait until the kinks are worked out and prefer sailing a few weeks or months later from when a ship starts to sail.

It is all personal preference.

Great news!! Would love to cruise one of the Maiden Voyages. Curious where it will be stationed/itineraries will be.

I think the term inaugural sailings are for the first year of sailings of a new ship. I think Maiden Voyage means more the first official paying-passenger sailing. I know there were promo sailings for press and travel agents and vips before the Maiden voyages of the ships.

I know DCL T-shirts were sold with "inaugural sailings" logos when the ships came out. And they had Maiden voyage ones for the first cruise.

You're right. I stand corrected. Inaugural should not be a problem. The maiden voyage (at least, the maiden with respect to general public) will be the challenge.

Wow, it looks like the Magic will join the Wonder for Alaska as well as do some Hawaii. I see the San Diego port is listed for both ships. This is very exciting.

This is great news, but I'm curious where they'll station the ships. They seem to have the Bahamas & the Carribean covered. Perhaps one of these ships is bound for Asia?

That would be amazing! I'm so sick of the Bahamas!

Interesting. I'm curious if the new island rumor is true. Maybe they have enough demand to support 4 ships in the Caribbean/Bahamas, especially peak season. And if they had a 2nd island, they definitely could.

I really can't see Disney spending the money for an additional island, particularly when repeat cruisers are begging for non-caribbean/bahamas destinations. They could always develop more of the existing island, if they are really pressed for space, but unless they start bringing in multiple ships on the same day there's really no need.

We can dream for west coast sailings!

I would LOVE to see the Wonder permanently live on the West Coast. Disney could build their own terminal at the Port of LA, and alternate Alaska, Hawaii, South America.

A ship based in Asia would be great, but one based in Australia would be even better!!!

I wholeheartedly agree! Oz has so many spectacular port options, plus with the possibility of an AbD add-on, it seems like a win-win for Disney. It could also be a great jumping off point for a run of cruises in Asia as well. Do a few months in Oz, and few months in Asia.

I hope they spread them out at least a little more than that. Maybe 3 in the Caribbean/Bahamas, one West Coast, one Europe, one Asia/Oceania.
