2 NEW ships coming!

Guess we'd better start saving up for a sailing on these newest ships.

Saving a $1 a day for the next 4 years should allow us squirrel away enough to put a deposit down on a 2021 sailing, given they launch on schedule (when a more definitive timeline is released) sometime in 2020 when the 2021 sailings are released. One has to figure at least one ship will be east coast NA based (likely the first) to get the gremlins workout out on any new "magic" on-board.

My prediction is that the two new ships will take over for the Fantasy and Dream out of PC. They will start sending 2 ships to Europe in the Summer, one to do the Northern Europe itineraries and one for the Med, probably one of those will be the Fantasy or the Dream. At least one of the smaller (Magic or Wonder) ships will go to Asia. The cruising market is growing there. RCI and NCL are sending new ships to do those itineraries. Disney has a natural tie in with their parks in China and Japan.

Can the Med/European ports and routes support ships as big as the Fantasy and Dream?

You are right my friend, I took the 217 from vessel particulars..my error!.........I could not find the height of the bridge.

AKK
No problem. I've seen the bridge listed at 201' someplace. Or was it 190'?

Exciting news but I honestly had really hoped that they would go with something sized between the 'originals' and the new Dream class. The Dream is nice but we personally love the size of the Magic and Wonder. Oh well.

And wonder what the prices will be like on the new ones?

No problem. They have the Allure (or Oasis?) sailing in Europe in the summer.

Interesting. I'm curious if the new island rumor is true. Maybe they have enough demand to support 4 ships in the Caribbean/Bahamas, especially peak season. And if they had a 2nd island, they definitely could.

well some people may need the 5/7 years in order to save up for these cruises. with prices the way they are today can you just imagine the cost of cruising in 5 years on a new dcl ship? :scared:
start putting it away today.....

From the Maritime-Connector.com
Code:
Panamax vs. New Panamax
     Panamax New Panamax
Length 294.13 m (965 ft) 366 m (1,200 ft)
Width 32.31 m(106 ft) 49 m (160.7 ft)
Draught 12.04 m (41.2 ft) 15.2 m(49.9 ft)
TEU 5,000 13,000

The Bridge of Americas - The highest point of the bridge is 117 m (384 ft) above mean sea level; the clearance under the main span is 61.3 m (201 ft) at high tide.

Many ships have to lower radar masts in order to go under the bridge.

Hmmmm wonder if we could also see some cruises around south america :D I've been eyeing one on Celebrity for years but the thing has never worked out. Would love to book one on Disney.

No problem. They have the Allure (or Oasis?) sailing in Europe in the summer.

The new Harmony of the Seas is sailing in Europe this summer too and it's an Oasis class ship. NCL will be sending the Getaway to sail Northern Europe in 2017.

I can't even imagine what it is going to cost to continue sailing DCL with these two ships coming. Prices just continue to go up and up and up with continued cuts being made to the parks and the cruise line. I'm still excited about to learn more about the two ships and I'm glad they will be of similar size to the Dream/Fantasy. I found the Magic to be too small and claustrophobic.

Yahoo!!!! Our oldest turns 13 in 2021, looks like a birthday cruise on a new ship would make a good pressie pixiedust:
