hello all.

I am getting a kitten soon. She is about 14 weeks old and sooooo cute! She also has a litter mate who is also very cute as well and I have been thinking about taking both of them so I don't have to split them up, but I am a little nervous about if it will be hard to take care of them both.

I wonder do I need two of everything? Or can they share?

So if anyone has 2 or more kittens/cats can you help me out with some tips and advice?

Also before anyone says to anything, I am adopting them. There is an army base close to me and there are a lot of stray cats, cats who get pregnant and there are a punch of people who trap them, get them neutered/spayed and they will either let them back where they got them or try to adopt them out and that's what I am doing.

I always get pets in pairs, cats esp.

Other than double the cost of care, two littermates can be the best scenario.:thumbsup2

I'd take both. I have a brother and sister. They keep each other company and I think they get less lonely when home alone.

We had siblings. It worked out well. You just need one of everything, but you would want the food and water dishes a little larger than the single serving dishes.

As a cat owner, I can tell you that unless there are any special medical needs, having two cats is virtually no different than caring for just one.

I started with one kitten and, after 10 days of her waking me wanting to play at all hours of the night, I went back and got her sister so I could get a full night of sleep. So, there's that to consider. :lmao: Get two, you'll fall in love with them both and be glad you did.

even 2 litter boxes?

You can use 1 box. You'll just have to change it twice as often. ;)

Get the pair. Our best cats ever came as a pair. They were so great together. It's great for them to have someone to play with and curl up and sleep with. :cat::cat:

I have two and it is just as easy as one. I do have two litter boxes. One in the finished basement and one in the main floor craft room. I scoop them every other day and do a total change once a week.

They keep each other company and entertained.

Has anyone ever introduced a new kitten after having one for awhile? We have a 9 month ragdoll and have thought about getting another one from the same breeder. He's our first pet, so we were hesitant to get two at the time, but now think it would be nice for him to have a friend :)

Another reason why I was thinking of getting 2 is because of what a lot of you have said, they will keep each other company when I am not home.

I adopted a 2nd cat in 2011 to keep my diabetic cat company, since I work 7 days a week. Cedric (my diabetic) died last October, so in March, I adopted another lost soul, Thomas, to keep Dallas company. Two ex-strays.
Thomas died suddenly on Friday, and Dallas is so lonely, he's driving me nuts. Get two! For the most part, it's a little more - food, litter, vet costs, but it is worth it.

I'd go with 2 litter boxes, but if you can only have one (due to space), make sure you scoop twice a day. Good luck! Bless you for giving them a loving home!

I would go ahead and do it. But expect your current kitty could initially not like the new kitten while the new kitten would be all like...what? It make take several days for the behavior to calm. We have introduced cats and kittens at various ages and eventually they tolerate one another if not become buddies.

On 2 occasions we had 2 cats and in neither did it work out. They kept us up at night because they wanted to play and make noise, or play or the bed or fight and chase.

Both times we had just one cat they were more like our child than our pet....both of them adapted very well to our life style....both times I worked nights and slept days and DW worked days and slept nights, so the cats adapted and slept 8 hours with me and then 8 with my wife, and were up and active when were were.

They're siblings I would definitely take them both. Easy to take care of two. They will definitely keep each other company.

I've heard to always adopt kittens in pairs, so we did that when our oldest cat died. We got two kittens to keep the now oldest cat company. Of course there was another kitty at the shelter, who was bigger and shyer than the other kittens and we felt bad for him so a week after adopting the two we also brought him home with us.

Our oldest cat has not forgiven us yet for bringing in all those kittens :lmao:

Our current pair of cats were two left-over kittens from different litters and they just love each other. I would definitely get two at once our first two cats were adopted at different times and never liked each other.
