I have our kids booked on the Pirate Cruise sailing from the Grand Floridian. They will be gone for 2 hours between roughly 9:15am and 11:15am. We're staying at CBR and plan to drive over to GF or TTC. I'm not sure what to do during those 2 hours! We can eat, but the prices for breakfast at the GF Cafe are killing me! We might take the monorail over to the Poly to check it out, maybe have coffee at Kona. I know nothing about the GF....can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks!

I would head over to the Poly and have breakfast at Kona Cafe. They have the most delicous stuffed french toast, I think it's called Tonga Toast. My MIL and I had breakfast there last week and it was great! We didn't wait long for a talble and the prices weren't bad either. It's a quick ride on the monorail.

If you can get past the prices, I would reccomend the GF Cafe. My husband and I ate their while the kids were on the cruise. We had an excellant leisurely breakfast without the kids. When our breakfast was over, we looked in the shops and sat in one of the swings on the beach for a while. We had a great time.

We did breakfast at Kona and then spent some time walking around the Poly grounds (which are beautiful).

Ok...stupid question...but I assume that the pagers they give you when you check in your kids work at the Poly too? Just like a normal pager would? I had originally planned breakfast at the GF Cafe, but a trip to check out the Poly sounds like a great idea! :thumbsup2

not a stupid question at all! A very good one, in fact! I didn't even think of that. Does anyone know?

As they're out on a lake, I would assume the page has to work relatively long distance. In fact they visit the Poly's beach.

My DH and I ate at Kona cafe while my son was on the cruise. Food is cheaper and the pineapple macadamia pancakes were great. :thumbsup2

Our kids did the cruise in September. We enjoyed a nice breakfast at GF cafe with our 2 1/2 year old. We also had breakfast at Kona's on another day during our trip and liked it better. So take the monorail to Kona's have a nice breakfast and buzz back in time to see them arriving back in the lagoon. It is fun to watch them come in singing "Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates life for me". The pagers work all over.
