Just back from a quick trip:
Night 1 Spoodles, return visit, last time 3 years ago. Server and location were great. DW had the red snapper and a tomato salad to start, both very good. Things slide a little from here, I had a pork w/ gonchi entree and a ceasar salad that were average. DD had a fried chicken breast , prepared as a scallopini essentially, not good at all. Dessert of cheesecake and a pitcher od Sanfria made this a fun night. We use DDE, but even without the price seems right for a good meal.
Next up, Our first trip to Chef de France, again a good meal. We have eaten at The Bistro prior and found it overrated. This meal featured average goat cheese salads and french onion soup to start. DW and DD had very good filets prepared to the proper temperature. I had a really enjoyable Beef shortrib. Creme Brule was somewhat pedestrian. Overall a little uneven, but a great server, really good bottle of Burgundy made it a really nice(albeit a little expensive) meal. Would try, if you have never before and better than the upstairs Bistro, but probably not on our return visit list anytime soon.
Our best meal of the trip and a place we had never tried before-The Yachtsman Steakhouse. Took a leisurely boat ride over to Yacht/Beach Club and were happy to find a casual yet refined steakhouse. DD had a very well prepared fillet, DW and I split a really good Sea Bass and a great T-bone(porterhouse actually). Starters were A tomato salad and a ceasar, very nice and a side of creamed spinach. A really nice bottle of Willamette Pinot Noir and great service to boot. DW had a dessert(cant remember which) that she really liked. Yes very expensive, but I would say certainly better than say a Sullivans and close to the ever expanding Mortons and Ruths'.
Any questions, I would be happy to answer. Thanks
