We are planning our 2005 vacation back to Orlando for one week. Our friends were very excited about our plans and want to join us.

They are a family of four, as we are, the kids would have a blast together and we'd love company too.

I'm wondering if it's rude to ask that we stay at the same place, but separate villas. That way we can still have our privacy and vice versa. I just love coming home to the villa at night and relaxing with my DH while my kids enjoy their own room and wind down for the night.

I LOVE this family, there are no issues at all to consider. But I think too much togetherness might be too much, kwim?

What are your experiences and thoughts?

Thanks:D

I'm so glad that you posted about this! Our family (me, DH, DD & DS) are going to WDW in Dec and will joined by DSIL, DBIL, & 2 DN's. We have our reservations through Dreams Unlimited for POR already & they also want to stay there & will probably be using DU too. I would like to NOT request being next to or adjoining each other, but am not sure how to approach it with them. Any suggestions? Thanks, Sandy

LoriX2 - I seriously think separate rooms is your best option. I bet they think the same thing. I would just make the reservations separate as if you didn't even consider it an option.

Sandy3550 - will you be checking in at the same time? If you check in first you can ask that you not be adjoining/near each other.

We have had adjoining rooms with my brother & family the last 2 years & will again this year. I know every family is different, but it has never been a problem. The door is open when we want it to be, but one of us just closes it when we want privacy. No questions asked, no hard feelings. It's just what works for us.

Melsmice - Yes, I think we should too. I don't think there would be a problem, but I would hate to have them offended if I asked about that.

We'll be staying at a villa at MGV or HGVC, so I think we will just book 2 villas separately. The more I think about it, it only makes sense. This is a vacation for both families and there should be some family time involved with that without feeling like we have to be together 24/7.

Thanks for responding:D

We just arrived back home today from a trip with a set of friends. We all stayed at BW but in seperate accomadations. It worked out great. We are a family of three and they are a family of four. We spent times together and apart during our whole vacation depending on what activities we all wanted to do. It worked out great being at the same place but in different villas.

MinnieGi- sounds like you all enjoyed your vacation. I'm looking forward to getting together with them and then everyone doing their own thing as well.

Thanks for sharing :D
