I'm not sure there are many people out there who are willing to waste their one transfer opportunity on two points. But maybe?

I thought about that and at least for the hotel exchange the minimum it looked like you could deposit was 20 points. It may be different for the villa exchange program.

I was thinking the same as you and @cruisehopeful about transferring them to II since OP is more than 45 days from points expiring and that would extend the life for two years. Didn’t know there was a minimum to transfer in though.

Well there's a limit for the hotel exchange as far as I could tell. It's possible you can deposit fewer into the vacation exchange program to book timeshare villa exchanges. I didn't look. Even still, you can't book anything with 2 points. So they're either going to just expire again or OP will have to transfer more points at some later date to actually be able to use them. If OP is interested in that possibility, I'd recommend they contact member services so they can understand the implications of making this transaction.

I would - but then again / I have 5 Membership/UY so it’s not actually a one transfer per year for me.

I agree that it’s probably a harder sell, but you never know when there’s someone debating whether they buy a couple OTUP or borrow, etc. I would think if you listed them cheaply, eventually you’d get a taker.

Yes, but if you do any between your own, it counts for both. They no longer make exceptions.

Yeah - I miss that exception - but with 5UYs - I can do up to 2 between or up to 5 from ‘outside’…funny thing is - in 15 yrs of owning - I’ve only transferred once or twice…

I just transferred this week for the second time (over 3 years and 4 UY) and was hemming and hawing about buying more OTUP instead and then I thought to myself “I have literally never needed to transfer” but it would be nicer if account to account transfer burned only one UY transfer and not two.

Or ‘unlimited’ transfers between your own memberships like it used to be…alas…that option is gone

So what's the consensus on the number of leftover points that's worth renting them out? Looking like I'm going to have 12 Banked In points that I'm not going to use this UY.

If you're willing to add in more points to get a one or two night stay somewhere, you might be able to rent it out. Personally, I would do the math on the MFs and probably let it go.

Doesn't Disney/DVC allow members to donate their points to some of the Make a Wish or Give Kids the World charities they help with? I'm guessing if enough of us members have a stray point or two that we cant make use of we could at least throw them into a pile and with enough of them it could help a family in need have a magical stay. At the end of the day it's likely all fungible when it's a few months out and I'm guessing DVC/Disney counts that into the breakage inventory they already sale/use for this purpose, but at least we can feel a bit better about the loss

I don’t think this is too far off topic, but I had a couple questions on points transfers. Do the points that are being transferred retain all of their attributes? So I have a June UY and a Poly contract. If someone with a Poly contract and say a December UY transfers me points, can I use them exactly like I can my Poly points, or do I have to use them in the context of their use year, in this case, December?

Second question, if I don’t own at the resort I am receiving via transfer, can I book at the 11 month mark using those transferred points?

Last one, the points that I receive via transfer, if they are resale points are they restricted? So I couldn’t use those points at another resort like Riviera even if I own direct?
