Perhaps I'm a bit Disney crazed at the moment, but I am attempting to begin the preliminary stages of a fall trip to Disney for Food and Wine, before our first trip has even begun! We are heading down May 16th for DH's birthday, and I am so excited I can't wait to plan even more in the fall!

The main issue is that I am planning to quite my job in August and begin working from home to get my writing career off the ground (hopefully anyway). That leaves us with one income...so I'm thinking of getting a second job in the next few weeks, working part time to fund my Disney habit!

Now I ask, is this being very frivolous of me? Of course I've told DH that we can write off the fall trip because I will be able to WRITE about it!

Only you can make that decision... As far as multiple Disney trips in a year, I plan a future trip before I make the current (does that make sense?) all the time. I live only 5 hr away so if I see an event going on that strikes my fancy, I will begin planning for it too. ;)

I am always trying to fit another Disney trip into the budget. Save more at home spend more time at Disney lol.

If that's frivolous, then what am I? We did 4 trips in 14 mos :)

Have you looked into getting an AP? It would be worth it for admission. Plus you get some good hotel discounts.

Have fun! :thumbsup2

We are doing the same thing- a 9 day trip splitstay BCV/AKV 5/26-6/4 then again OKW 10/17-10/24 w a 4 nite Wonder cruise.

But then nothing till next Christmas! We only have so many points! ;)

I'm doing the same thing! We are leaving on 5/15 for a 9 day trip and I just booked a 2nd trip for Food & Wine in October!!!
In May, we are going all out, staying at the Poly but in October we are staying at the All Star Movies-have to save $$$ somewhere to justify a 2nd trip in 1 year!!!
:woohoo:

We live 5.5 hours away, so it is easy for us to get away for just a few days. We have an 8 night trip planned in August, and in June I promised my boys the NickHotel, so we will be there for 2 nights, US for one night, and two nights at WDW.

I may try and sneak in a weekend to go to MNSSHP this year, but the school schedule has to align with the party schedule.

For us 2 WDW trips in a year would be hard, expensive to get there and we'd want to spend 7+ days ~ but we can and do visit DLR multiple times per year!

I've been...well...four times in the past 12 months. (Shhh! I know! We're crazy!) And we live in Colorado, so it's not like it's all that quick a trip down to Florida.

I think you're much better off deciding before you head there for your first trip whether the second trip is likely/a sure thing. I say this because I agree with the PP who suggested you look at getting an AP instead of buying stand-alone tickets for both trips. You may indeed save money that way, and not just on admission. There is usually some sort of deal for reduced rate hotel rooms for AP holders, and there are some places you can show your AP and get merchandise/food discounts. (They also sometimes run larger/resort-wide discounts for AP holders, like they did this past February.)

I feel so much more normal and sane now that everyone is like-minded around here! I discussed the part time gig with him a few hours ago, and he was good with it! Now to see if there is any place hiring for only a few hours, a few days a week! I also keep looking around the house for items to sell...

I would LOVE to go that many times in a year! At least Orlando always has airfare deals! I purchased my tickets months ago for this upcoming trip...in fact, every single thing is paid for, and we have a bucket saved for the dining plan expenses as well! So, maybe next year an AP will save a bit more money...how much are they PP anyway? We paid around $550 for 2 five day passes this time around...

We've been 5 times in 2.5 years.

Go on the DVC tour as well - you may find that DVC makes sense for you if you think you'll love Disney enough to go frequently...

we did 4-6 trips last year and plan to make another 4 or so in the next year...yeah, i know...we're nuts. And WE live in boston so it's not quite just next door for us, either.

We decided to get the AP's last year since we knew that we were going to go twice in one year. Well, let me say that was a BIG mistake for my hubby's credit card, we ended up going 7 times last year and even with the AP we still ended up paying around $1,000 a trip on food, lodging, and the gas to get there (15 hour drive each way) and we did not go all out on either the food or hotel. So keep that in mind if you do decide to get an AP, it will always be in the back of your mind, "well I could just go down to Disney cuz I have the AP and I won't have to pay to get in." ;) Makes it kinda easy to rationalize the extra trips. Also, with the AP's I noticed there were several room/ticket discounts that I wanted to do but didn't help me out much because you have to buy tickets to get the discount (which I didn't need) like the free dining and the buy 4 get 3 free deals.

You could actually go to guest services when you get there for your first visit and upgrade your current tickets to annual passes and just pay the difference. Look for the tickets sticky thread on the Theme Parks board for a BOATLOAD more details on that.

I'm actually not sure what APs are going for after tax, to tell you the truth. I got our current ones with a DVC discount and ever since then, I've only paid attention to the DVC renewal prices. The WDW website should have that info, though. Make sure you compare both figures (what you paid for your current tickets vs. what you would pay for APs) with post-tax numbers. The first figure the WDW site will show you is pre-tax.

Also keep in mind that APs have park hopping (but not water parks, fun, and more, unless you get a different AP) built in. So that may factor into your decision as well.

Have a great trip! (Maybe two great trips! ;) )
