With our scheduled flights we have a few days in Orlando before we cruise DCL. We can do two days in the parks which is really not a good way to get a discount. :headache:

This is what I've found for two day tickets, five adults:
Orbitz (with Ebates refund): $723.46
Disney: $979.80
Undercover Tourist/Mousesavers: $1004.55

We used Undercover Tourist last time and they were great, but they actually charge more for two day tickets that Disney does.

The nice part is we have friends in Orlando who will pick us up at airport, house/feed us, drive us to parks/cruise terminal (bless their wonderful hearts!! )

But I'd still like to spend as little as possible on the park tickets. Is Orbitz the way to go? Since our friends live near MK they can pick up vouchers if need be.

I would definitely say Orbitz is the way to go. Thanks for letting me know about it. Best deal I've seen yet!

You're welcome, I think. :bitelip: I've never used Orbitz and wasn't sure if the numbers were correct or not--like are there hidden fees, or complications, etc... It seems odd that would be so much cheaper. I was hoping someone with experience using Orbitz would give them the thumbs up or down. Or point out anything I've overlooked. :scratchin

why? please tell us about your orbitz experience?

I go with orbitz. I had a great experience with them and ebates last year. Very easy and saved money.

Just an FYI: The prices on Disney's website do not include tax, so make sure you're accounting for that in your comparison. The prices from UT do include tax. But, Disney does not discount 1- and 2- day tickets to resellers, so UT's price is likely comparable to Disney's. The Orbitz deal sounds like the best bet.

Ebates has 20% back on Orbitz activities - TODAY ONLY!!!! That makes it an even sweeter deal.

Last year, I had to fight with ebates to get my cashback. They didn't want to credit me until 45 days AFTER I picked the tickets up, which was 4 months after I had ordered them. Eventually, it got resolved and I got my rebate.

Orbitz was not a problem for me. However, I did read about some people who ordered their tickets just before going on their vacation and their voucher wasn't any good when they arrived. Apparently Orbitz takes their good old time about relaying the information to Disney? At least that was the explanation that was given to the person who was having problems. I'll see if I can find the thread and I'll post a link.

ETA: I found the link, but the problem was at DLR not WDW.

Oh boy, now I'm in the hot seat!!! :hourglass

Can I ask how you resolved it with ebates? Email correspondence?

You can submit a request through their website. You need to keep the confirmation email from Orbitz in order to copy/paste it into the submission. Just find the tracking ticket under ebates' "Help Where's my Cashback" page. They are very good at getting back to you in a timely manner, even if their answer is "no".

In my case, they refused to credit my account until 40 days after I had "completed my travel", even though the tickets were non-refundable and paid in full at the time of purchase. This was in spite of the fact that many luckier people were credited immediately for their purchase. In the long run, I ended up waiting until November to get credit for that purchase that was made in May, but I did get credit.

This time, I know better than to order tickets so far in advance. I'm traveling next month and I will pick them up then. If I were not going to be traveling so soon, I would arrange to have someone else pick them up for me when they go down. If I have to wait until 40 days after that, I'm okay with it.

ebates website clearly states on the terms that you have to wait till 40 days after travel is USED. I am i same boat, but I know it means most likely I will have to wait months for that check. Unless I'm lucky, but calling and demanding a check before the terms state it isn't quite fair.....I see your point about the paid in full thing, but those are the terms

Umm...yeah, that's what I said in the other thread that is currently running. I wasn't happy that I was made to wait for so long for my credit when others were receiving credit immediately for the same purchase but those ARE the terms of the deal.

In the long run, I still had to submit a problem ticket to Ebates, because it still didn't automatically credit to my account even after the 40 days post-travel had passed.

We are going in July but have friends who live in Orlando. If I order them now, and have them pick them up, say, next month, that doesn't activate them at pickup does it? So they could be picked up next month and used in July ok?

Finally, I can't find on Ebates website that this 20% cash back on activities is today only. Actually, I can't find any details on it. Help!

If you were to ask a CM if the tickets have been "activated" when they are picked up, then the answer would be "yes". That's because they are good to go, not because the 14-day countdown has begun on them. MYW tickets do not expire until 14 days after their first day of use. If they are unused, then they aren't going to expire. Your friend can pick your tickets up next month and hold them for you until your arrive in July.

The Orbitz "up to 20%-back" offer is under the Featured Stores column on the Ebates homepage. Ebates offers come and go without warning, so you never know how long this will be good for. Someone on the other thread mentioned that it is listed under the "Deals of the Week" but it isn't listed that way on my homepage. It is among the deals flashing above the "Deals of the Week" and it says "was 10%, now get 20%".

I'm coming up with $1,004.80 four five adult two day base tickets on Orbitz. Twenty percent rebate makes the net cost $803.84 unless there's some other discount not showing. You still have to outlay that higher amount of money then wait for the rebate.

:badpc: see, this is why I post questions! Evidently when I calculated costs I must have put in 4 people, not 5. You are correct about the cost. Thanks for double checking my math.

Sorry I didn't have time to reply in more detail earlier. Short answer? I bought the tickets on orbitz via ebates when there was a good discount plus 20%. In the summer, several months before our Oct trip. Fast forward to my DDs birthday!!! Got to DHS early, walked up to will call....no tickets. What?!? I have the email printout from orbitz? Nope, no tickets. Please go to guest relations. Ok....so my kids are outside the gates. Drag them over to GR. stood in line for over half an hour. No tickets. What?!?! The CM spent (another) half hour, with a manager and still couldn't find out tickets. They finally gave us tickets to get us in the park that day, advised us that we needed to call orbitz and 'this happens a lot with these tickets'. I spent my daughters entire bday on the phone w orbitz or in line w GR (literally 4+ hours getting bounced around by orbitz), crying, and watching my ex have a great time with the kids while I tried to fix the issue. To this day I still don't know if orbitz actually fixed the issue or if wdw just gave me tickets I bought based on my email. Thank God I printed that out.
