2 day/3 Additional Day Tickets Special

The free child's ticket is part of a promotional to attract families with young children to try Universal. Gving the ticket away to a family in line who will be purchasing a ticket is not what they had in mind. It seems whenever Universal or Disney come up with a great deal on tickets or meals, someone finds away to scam. I've seen it with adults using the free child's tickets before they were labelled or parents buying the meal deal for one and going back several times to feed the whole family. As long as these practices continue, everyone will lose when they decide to discountinue these great deals.

I don't see how this is scamming the system. I have an uneven amount in my family and when I purchased tickets, it will leave one leftover child's ticket.
I paid for it in essence, so why not pass along the extra child's ticket to someone who can use it? What is the difference is one of my children use it, or someone else's does?

This is not meant to be used as a "scam" but as a kind gesture to someone who might not be able to afford to come in the first place. I know our first trip was for one day and we bought at the gate since way back then, the internet was not readily available and funds were tight. This still promotes families and good will which is the intent of the promotion in the first place. Universal is giving these as a freebie for an advance purchase. And I'm not suggesting an adult try to get in with it.

I see no problem with giving away the free tickets which Universal offers to a paying customer as a reward for buying their product, and I see no rules for limiting the buyer from giving them away. It is a completely different situation to give away something lke the 4th and 5th days on used entry passes, that is not right.

You may see it as a good deed but that is not how the program was designed. Those free tickets are tied to your order. If there is a problem scanning them at the gate the ticket could be confiscated. I'm not the moral police---just stating the facts.

We bought these tickets and used them last week! IT was wonderful! I think we enjoyed the parks so much more because I didn't hear the $$ signs ticking! LOL! When you usually pay $75 or more per person you want to make sure it is worth it! We had a great time. Took it slow. And spent 4 days inside the parks!

FYI: ordering online or over the phone they ASK you to indicate the number of children's tickets you will need. I was going to give ours away too but then thought better about it----we have enough problems giving away fastpasses at WDW with questions, etc.--that we don't want to spend time playing twenty questions with the receiving family. I ordered 3 adult tickets and 1 child ticket--exactly what we need.

Just for the record, I have given a ticket away once. Three weeks ago we went to Pleasure Island at Disney and bought an extra ticket. The ticket was dated for that night only. We ended up not using it. Since I paid for the ticket, I could either ask for a refund or give it away. I gave it away.

But if I had free dining with the Disney package, I wouldn't give it away. If I had free transportation with Magical Express I wouldn't give it away nor would I give away my refillable mug at Disney, before I leave a resort. ;)

So, what's the difference? I am talking about giving extra tickets that you have and you give someone the extra as you are all going in saving that family $100. I just don't see a problem.

The difference is I paid for the ticket. I could have gotten a refund on my ticket. By giving my ticket away, Disney didn't lose any money on a paying customer. If I got a refund of $20 something dollarson my ticket, then someone would have then paid $20 something to purchase a ticket. The amount Disney made or lost was zero. You didn't pay for a free ticket. It comes as a package deal.

There is no sense in arguing over this. Do what you want. I am just stating that it is against Universal policy. If you are caught, then just deal with the consequences of your good deed.

BTW, it there a reason your user name is scammermom?

Yes, my husband who is a police officer, calls me that because I get such great deals at the grocery store. I can get hundreds of $$ of groceries for under $50 using coupons and the store sales. I contribute personal products and free groceries to our homeless shelters and food banks. I have seen my share of people who have nothing and who need a break every here and now.

Although I admire your work for the homeless, I seriously doubt many destitute people make it to the gates of Universal or Disney. Also, how would you be able to tell who actually can't afford a ticket to get in the gates and who has plenty of money to buy a ticket?

Universal made a quite generous offer with the kids free tickets. I am sure that they also took into consideration that not every order would need an equal number of child's tickets. If you need it and qualify for it, by all means, take it. If you don't have a child in your family that can use the ticket, then don't take it. To take it only to give it away at the gate is abuse. The more abuse, the less chance the ticket offer will be around in the future.

whta is the site you can buy 2 adult tickets and get 2 kids free I clicked on the one on page 1 it was buy 4 get 1 free 400.00 plus tax

my son is 9 now...I am planning to visit Universal in October (he will be 10 at that time) will I be asked for proof of age then if I were to purchase a buy 2 get 3 free childs ticket now? (I realize I am setting myself up for flames/moral judgements, :furious: , but I'm just asking!!! :rolleyes1 )

Unless your son is taller than 52 inches, you probaly won't be asked for proof of age.

hope they don't ask me.....DS is 54" (in shoes---doctor measured him for me! :teeth: ) and he's only 7!!! (tall dude for his age!)

I understand as I had tall kids too. They may ask him his age but more than likely nothing will be said.

I'm with ScammerMom- we just got back a month ago and I neede 5 tix- 2 adult, 3 kids. I got three buy one / get one tix online and they were good for 5 days. There was no differentiation for kids or adults on the tix we got at the kiosk... and nowI still have one ticket that we didn't use for the next trip. You may say scamming, I say planning!

krismom...there is no question you arent scamming...you bought your tickets and are using them. There is nothing that says you shouldnt save one for later. The question I believe was ordering the free tickets when you dont have kids and either selling or giving them away. (you see them on ebay a lot). Even if you think you are doing someone a favor, if it was questioned in some way...it could lead to them being embarrassed and having to answer questions they may not know the answers to, etc.

There is absolutely no reason not to save any extras for later.

:hippie:

Krismom, I have said all along that Universal has no problem with you saving tickets for a future trip. But giving them away to a stranger that is planning on purchasing a ticket is not the same. The tickets are tied to your order. When the tickets are scanned they can see who purchased them.
