2 contracts - banking deadlines?

Okay, here's one for you DVC experts:

This year, I bought two contracts, 150 BCV points from Disney and a 106 BWV point resale. They happen to have the same use year. I assumed that they were treated completely separately, but the last time I phoned, they told me my total points remaining -- the two added together. So my question is, do the banking percentage deadlines apply to each contract, or to the total number of points? For example, I am using all 150 BCV points in the first month of my use year. If I want to bank all 106 BWV points, do I need to do it by the 100% deadline, or by the 50% deadline? If the former, is that because they are the same use year? That certainly would make matching the use year on resales advantageous.

Thanks,
Meghan

I would assume that you would have to bank the 106 points by the 100% deadline, but I am not for sure. I would like to know this answer too. We have 3 contracts with the same use year. Our original contract was at OKW for 150 points, an add-on at OKW with 50 points, and 100 at Vero. I have always wondered if the 2 contracts at OKW are somewhat considered as 1 when banking or borrowing. At least MS has always treated them as one when I talk to them. But they separated the Vero contract out by itself when I ask about points for our upcoming trip. Is there a difference if the contracts are at the same resort or different resorts? We've never had problems with the OKW contracts and banking, but we just bought the Vero points this year.

I don't know for certain as none of my 3 contracts have the same use year. Reading over the rules, it isn't specific enough to be certain but I think the best interpretation is that it is accumulative which is to your advantage. Let us know what MS says.

you can bank 50% of your total points by the 9th month..i have 200bwv and 200bcv and i was on the phone with ms the other day and was told that i have until feb to bank 50% ..i have already used all but 85 of my 2002 points so she told me i have plenty of time because that is 25% or less of my total points..bottomline is they look at all thepoints as 1..that is why i like to have the same use year on both contracts..

This is one where you probably want to get clarification from MS and not rely on our best guesses here. It likely depends on whether they are carrying both those contracts now under one member number rather two separate numbers in which case they may treat all the points together for banking purposes.

Note for some with posts above: the original post does not deal with your typical "add on" situation where you have one contract and then buy from Disney an add-on at the same or a different resort but with the same use year. In that "add-on" situation, all the points are added together to determine banking. Thus if you have 200 at OKW and 200 add-on at VB, you have a total of 400 to determine banking, e.g., at the 50% banking deadline you can bank 200 points of your choice -- all the VB, or all the OKW, or a combination of both equalling 200. The original post has the purchase of a second separate contract in the resale market that just happens to be in the same use year as the first contract and if it is being carried under a separate member number than the first contract, MS might treat the two as completely separate contracts for banking purposes.

Great question!!!
Assuming you hadn't made that reservation and had all of your points, then missed the 100% deadline...how and who would decide which deed the points were to come from if both contracts happened to have all points currently available???
I shall call MS tomorrow and find out! I love this kind of stuff...I still learn new things all the time.

As for your particular situation, half of your annual allocation (256) would be 128, so you should be able to wait until the 50% window to bank the 106....IMHO.

Let us know if you hear before I do...

Best regards,
Shontell
