This might be a little stupid, as I know it can be done between owners, but here goes anyway:
I just purchased an OKW add on, August UY. My original contract is OKW October UY. I've called MS twice regarding reservations, and each time I was told it would be a good idea to transfer the points all into one of the contracts. I was also told that the transferred points would then have the UY of the contract they were transferred into. And that I could still bank the points after transfer (but not transfer after banking).
Is any of this correct?
Thanks.

Points transferred in will retain their original home resort and use year. You can bank points transferred in, but can't transfer banked points.

No (they don't take the use year of where they're transferred to).
Correct, you can bank transferred points
Correct, you cannot transfer banked points

As I understand, you can bank them once transferred, but they will retain original use year. I have 2 seperate accounts as well and am trying to decide whether to do the transfer each year. Right now I have points in holding in each account. What a drag!

Unless you are combining them for something like a cruise or a trip in between the 2 Use Years, there usually is no reason for a need to combine the points. As long as you have enough points to reserve individual nights from each contract MS will link all nights together into one seamless reservation.

If you have a reservation requiring 21 points per weeknight and want to reserve 5 nights you could reserve 3 nights from one contract (63 points) and 2 nights from the other (24 points) and MS will link everything together. If you only had 62 points in one contract and 25 in the other, a transfer would be needed to reserve all 5 nights since neither contract would have enough points for the entire stay. In most cases, with banking and borrowing even that can be overcome.

Good luck! :)

Yes, that's what caused the problem. I have 59 points available on one contract, and 150 on the other. MS wanted me to take my December reservation of 76 points ALL from the 150 point contract, as that was easier for her than taking the 59 from the first and the remainder from the second. I went along with it, as the 59 points will expire after the 150, so I figure it's better to use the "older" points first.
And I have 150 banked points expiring July. She wanted me to put them in RCI. No thanks.

For future reference, I always outline which membership (and even which contract(s) from each membership) I want to use for the reservation. If the CM balks or is not willing to help, I'd just call back and work with another CM - or ask for a supervisor. These are your points and they may be used as you wish subject to normal DVC rules. I was able to do this yesterday with a reservation for next December and had no problem working with Christina at MS.

Good luck! (I'd keep trying.)
