2 contracts 2 different use years

With 2 different use years how difficult is it to use both contracts on one reservation?
Would be two separate reservations. Can’t merge across memberships. Best you can do is ask them to mark as an ongoing reservation so you don’t have to switch rooms.

Otherwise you can transfer points from one to the other and book from one membership.

It’s like you are two different owners. To use together, you have to transfer.

You are allowed only one per UY, in or out. Once transferred, points still have all the same rules and you may or may not see them on the dashboard.

If it’s an occasional situation, it can work. If it is regular, then it makes more sense to do what it said already. Book each part on its own and ask them to note it’s a continuous stay

They can’t merge reservations across memberships. We do this a lot and have yet to ever not been in the same room.

I book 2 separate reservations to run consecutivly in the same type room in the same resort. Then I call member services to have them mark it as one reservation. I have never had to switch rooms.

I think you meant ‘Can’t merge’?

You could transfer points from one membership to the other. That way you can book as a single reservation. Otherwise you have to book 2 separate reservations that run one right after the other. You then call MS and ask them to note them as a continuing reservation. There's still a possibility that you will have to move but they try very hard to keep you in the same room. However, I would prefer to do the point transfer from membership A to B if possible.

Is there any drawback to just transferring all of your points from one membership to another every year if you have two memberships?

Now that they can be banked im starting to think this is the way to go if I dont need multiple waitlists one year

The only drawback so to speak that comes to my mind is the transferred points retain their original use year. So a Feb use year transferred into June would still be a Feb use year and may be tricky remembering the cut offs and everything. I don’t think it shows the UY for the transferred points in the new UY anywhere. Just making sure you are on top of it all.

There is only one transfer in and out per membership.

Thank you, Im going to try this next time since I change reservations all the time. I always keep track of my points anyways because ive had some straight disappear after cancelling a booking!

Something to keep in mind about transferred points. Holding, banked and borrowed points will be taken before transferred points. Then points that are expiring first will be taken. That means that if, for instance, you have a December 2024 UY and an April 2025 UY and you transfer the April points into your December membership, the December 2024 current points will get used before those transferred April 2025 points. Ask me how I know.

Oh lord theres always something thats why I asked. A million rules, we should just be able to use all our points without all the games. Im wondering if we can just modify tho and reallocate the transferred points first?

No, you can’t. The system is set up to use points in a certain order and that can’t be changed.

The things is that you have multiple memberships which it’s like being different owners.

That is why it’s not simple. I personally have just found that booking on each for trips and then asking them to note has been easier and simplistic.

I have this also, but since I always do split stays it is not an issue. Book a reservation with one contract and book another with the other contract that is back to back.

I often do split stays for my longer stays, because I like to. I have never transferred points between contracts because a) too confusing and b) I like the flexibility - more waitlists, better chances of a WL filling (fewer days), more options to "build a trip" while holding my 11-mo points - e.g. I may book BLT-RIV 4 days each; at 7 months maybe I will switch from BLT to CCV, and switch RIV to BCV, or AKV, for example. Or just switch one half of a trip. I could even switch BLT to RIV and do an 8-day stay at one resort if I wanted, (e.g. not enough points to book with home resort points, or one day is missing in the week).

When I have used multiple contracts' points to book a longer reservation - I think this happened with a stay at Aulani - they make a notation that it's a continuing reservation and we've never had to move.

Our UYs are also 6 months apart, so we will sometimes use our August UY for August - Feb stays, and Feb UY for Feb to August, and not do a split stay. It's actually pretty simple.

It’s almost like it’s easier for someone who is new to the system to just have 1 UY unless there is an overwhelming reason to have more than 1…..
