2 Connecting Rooms vs. Suite

Our trip is just a few weeks away, and of course I am second-guessing our room choice! We are traveling with our 3 young children and my mother-in-law and currently have 2 standard rooms booked at PPH. I'm kind of worried we won't be able to get connecting rooms, which would be an inconvenience as our son was planning on sleeping in the room with his grandma. I know connecting rooms are never a guarantee, and checking in on a busy Saturday morning will not help with room flexibility. I've stayed onsite 2 other times and none of my requests were honored.

There are still 1 bedroom suites available at the DLH for our stay for about the same cost as 2 separate hotel rooms at PPH. My first concern is that we would go from having 4 beds and 2 daybeds to having 2 beds and a pull-out couch. I know my mother-in-law would not mind the pull-out, but that means all three kids have to sleep in one bed. The girls are still young enough that they could do a pack and play if necessary, but they won't be happy about it!

My second concern is the loss of a bathroom. I can't get a clear answer on whether the 1 bedroom suite at DLH has a half bath in addition to the full in the bedroom? A CM on the disneyland.com chat told me no, but I thought that they did! That half bath would make a HUGE difference! Does anyone know for sure?

Lastly, staying at all 3 DL hotels is on my bucket list, and PPH is the only one I have left! That being said, I LOVE the DLH. The rooms are gorgeous, and the pool would be so much more fun for our little ones than the PPH pool! I just don't want to be disappointed with PPH after staying at the DLH and the GCH the last 2 trips.

I would love to hear any opinions! Should I stick with my 2 rooms at PPH, or go with a suite at the DLH? Thanks!

There is a 1/2 bath in the suites. An additional option we do sometimes is bring air beds. The living room is large and you could put a couple air beds on the floor.

I have stayed at all 3 and I'm afraid you will be disappointed. I love Dlh for the same reasons as you do. I would bring air beds. Maybe ask for some extra sheets and get creative and make a little fort and tell the kids it's a castle lol.

They also offer roll aways at DLH that are actually quite comfortable. We have had two in the living room of the two room suite and it still left us plenty of extra room. All the suites we have stayed in have had 1 bathroom in the bedroom portion and 1/2 in the living area.

My family has stayed in both PPH and DLH, and the three times we've asked for connecting rooms we've gotten them. That being said, we usually had to wait until at least 3 or 4 for the rooms to be ready, and as you know, there is no guarantee. We're also usually going during off-season, which probably helps. We've been curious about the suites, but never have stayed in one!

We've never been disappointed with PPH by any stretch, but it isn't quite as magical as the DLH. I can definitely see the appeal of trying out all 3 Disney hotels (GCH is still on my list!), but I'd go with whatever feels the safest for you. I think PPH would be great for you if you get connecting rooms, but if not getting them is going to be super inconvenient, then I'd go with the suite. Making a fort for the kids sounds like an awesome idea!

I believe the one bedroom sleeps 6.

Thanks, everyone! I went ahead and booked the DLH suite but will hold on to my PPH rooms a couple more days just in case. I figure we can always stay at PPH in a regular room, but may not be able to justify the cost of a suite without having my mother-in-law pay for part of the room. I'm also very concerned that we will not get connecting rooms, even if we wait until 3 or 4 pm. Saturday check in is just crazy busy from my experience, and I understand that they just can't accommodate everyone.

I did double check with a CM on the Disneyland.com chat that six people could stay in that room so we would not be violating room occupancy. He also said that most of the suites do have half-baths in the living room. Not sure why the other CM told me otherwise. Crossing my fingers for a half-bath because it will be hard for 6 of us to share one bathroom!

Very excited about staying at the DLH again. It's so magical!
