I am going to try to break World Showcase into about 3 afternoons/evenings. That should give the kids plenty of time NOT TO GET BORED touring the countries...and with Kidcot option I am hoping to make it a little more interactive by meeting Cast Members from around the world, learning about their native countries from them as well as creating a souvenir craft. I am working on passport pages for each country so they can collect signatures from CMs along with greetings from each country and since it is Christmas season I am hoping to get a holiday greeting/message as well. I think Goo will like being able to make something in each country, and if Ab and Boo do not want to join in they can explore a little on their on in the country...in the end I hope to make everyone happy, especially me not BLOWING through the countries as fast as we can.

In school you always have those crazy/fun hat days. I was always jealous of those kids that had the Mickey Mouse Ears to wear. I remember when I went to Disneyland during a Girl Scout Exchange/Wider Opportunity when I was a freshman in high school...the one thing I had to do was get a set of my OWN Ears. It was so cool watching the CM stitch my name on the back and even cooler (even as a teenager) to wear those ears on the first hat day after I bought them. I am going to make sure the kids pick out their own set of ears...they have to be ears not a WDW hat...and get their names put on the back. I only plan on purchasing 2 things for them during the trip...Mickey Ears and a Christmas Ornament...anything else they want...they buy...yep that is my motto.

Ohana means family right? I have made our last night ADR at Ohanas to celebrate with my family a magical trip together while watching WISHES from the POLY beach. To me this sounds like a perfect ending to our trip...wonder if it will turn out the way I imagine?

Dinner & a Movie Night
Dumbo
October 1st

Ab, Goo, K-Quad and their friend Donald joined us for movie night

This week the K-Quad hosted their first movie night at their house down the street. K3 & K4 were excited all week when I picked them up in the morning for school (we carpool together...I take in the morning and their grandmother picks up in the afternoon). Each morning they wanted to talk about what is in a circus and what we could do for Dumbo. We decided that we would rotate weeks...1 family choose the movie, food, and host and the other family would come up with the activity. This work great for the kids and moms...but the dads are another story and they just have to go along or stay home. This night Jeff and Boo decided to go to the cabin as an excuse that it needed to be winterized...I think Jeff just wanted to go fishing and AVOID movie night.

The K-Quad chose Dumbo, not one of my favorite movies just because it breaks my heart when Mrs. Jumbo keeps getting passed over by the stork, then she gets locked away for protecting her baby from the mean boys making fun of Dumbo! This was the first time my kids have seen the movie, yes I know it has a happy ending...

Dinner & a Movie Night

Jungle Book

Ab was here for dinner, but had to go to Teen Mass when we watched the movie

We have been tryingfor months to do the Jungle Book movie night...we just never seemed to get it together, so I vowed to get it done since I ordered the movie from Netflixs and it came this week. It is not that I don't like the movie, the time never seemed right and I really wanted the kids to try some Indian food and I just could not seem to pull the menu together. The boys recognized a lot of the voices from other movies we have watched (Baloo...Thomas from the Aristocrats and Kaa...Winnie the Pooh)

We loved the Naan Bread....

Thank goodness I had a back up food plan, my family decided that they did not care for Indian Food...except for the Naan Bread. I am sure the REAL thing is a lot better than my humble attempt at Curry and I have to agree that I am not a big fan of the spice cardamom.​

70. The Living with the Land

This was an attraction that I had planned to skip on my first trip to the world, just did not sound like something I really wanted to waste time what little time I had on. We came off of Soarin and there was no wait for Living with the Land, so we decided to give it a try...AND I AM SO GLAD I DID. I have NO GREEN THUMB, but I always wish I had. As a child we would have a huge vegetable garden each summer so I can appreciate gardens. WDW gardens AMAZED ME. This attraction was so worth the time...

Here is some of the hidden magic found in Living with the Land:
*The house number on the mailbox as you pass through the farmhouse scene on the ride is #82, a nod to 1982 the year EPCOT Center opened.
*In the greenhouse, watch for the tomato tree, it's a Guinness Book of World Records holder...the plant yielded 32,000 tomatoes in 1 year!

A question that I want input on...
Do you think it would be okay to order the kids a pizza one night and have Ab (who will be close to 15) babysit her brothers in the villa while dh have dinner together across the way at the Yachtsman? We gave no problems doing this at home, but it bothers me at disney. What are your thoughts?

Do the boys generally mind her at home? Then I think it would be ok. Make sure they have a movie to watch or game to play, enforce strict rules of not leaving the room or opening the door. Give them numbers to contact you and if they are good and quite rewards the next day of some kind. Not only is Ab old enough your older son is older as well so the can team up for the little one.

I am ever so impressed with your movie nights!!! The activities and the food. I think your kids will look back on these when they are adults and be in total awe of you.

As for leaving the boys with AB, I think if you are comfortable with it at home...it should be fine. I would make sure they know to stay in the room...but other than that I would think there would be no worries.

And for the question of the day.... a bit of trivia..

As for leaving the boys with AB, I think if you are comfortable with it at home...it should be fine. I would make sure they know to stay in the room...but other than that I would think there would be no worries.

I don't know why leaving them is making me have such hang ups...maybe it was because of that little girl from the UK who disappeared from the hotel room in Spain...she looked just like Ab when she was that age. Ab is super mature and super responsible...almost to a fault at times and the boys are usually really good for her...and they are not that young. I could even probably bribe them with a little more $$$ to spend if they have a good night.

I think that it would be fun to slip away with dh and have a date night at Disney....and I would only be going across the lake to the Beach Club. I know that by this time on our trip dh will be craving red meat! So I am making the Yachtsman ADR...and if I second guess myself later on I will cancel it...I think I am going to crash the system today anyway with all my changes.

Oh I would be so jealous of your date night! I've considered this, too, but I'm worried the boys are so close in age they would gang up on Erin and it would be mass chaos at the Poly.

But I don't think you would consider it if you didn't think your kids could handle it. I would defnitely cozy them up in the room with pizza and a movie - they may be so tired by this point of the trip they just conk out early in bed!!
