Does a place around WDW have the best of both worlds at a reasonable price (less than $200/night)?

My dh wants a place with 2 separate bedrooms plus a living area. I've booked a family suite at the All-Star Music. I want housekeeping, so it's a vacation for me, too! :cool1:

Is there a vacation villa or suite place that has plenty of room AND housekeeping daily???? I would book it in a second if it exists! :)

Why not look into a pool home? They don't have daily housekeeping, but honestly, what's the big deal?

They make the beds for you?

Pick up the towels off of the floor?

Is is that hard to do this stuff? Don't you do it at home every day anyhow?

I'm not talking about cleaning per se... we have cleaning people come to our "real" home too...but how much does the housekeeping do for you really?

We've never once felt like the "cleaning" aspect of staying in a pool home placed ANY additional burdens on us, in fact, quite the opposite, we felt like the additional space and amenities made for some of the best vacations we've ever had versus staying in a traditional small hotel room!

Thing is....you want all of that, AND you want a reasonable daily rate! You can get a gorgeous pool home for well under $200 a night, but they don't usually come with daily maid service. You can request additional cleaning visits for a fee, but we don't think you really need this unless you're staying for a longer period of time, much like you'd have cleaning people come to your home on a weekly basis.

If you're looking for a resort that does offer the best of both worlds, you might think about Reunion, beautiful homes, gorgeous resort, and it does have daily maid service! (But you pay for it of course!)

On-site vs. off-site amenities aside (you will be giving some things up if you stay off site) a good choice that fits your criteria is the Marriott Residence Inn on Palm Parkway, basically just a stoplight away from the main entrance that leads into DTD. Two spacious b/r (master with K, double Q in the other b/r), two bathrooms, liviing area with kitchen and fold out couch, 3 tv sets, great resort pool, very good free hot breakfast every morning and most evenings (M-TH) they have food out. Most of the time you can book the best price from Marriott's website directly. We stayed there last Thanksgiving in a 2 b/r unit for $134. per night. Daily housekeeping included. There is no w/d in the room itself, but we've used the laundry room to do a load of laundry---it was clean and convenient.

Sheraton Vistana Village resort on Intn'l Drive - we stayed in 2 bed condo a few years ago & had daily housekeeping. They even loaded the dishwasher. Great!!

Most timeshares have this available if you are a daily rental or for an extra fee regardless. It's usually in the range of $40 - $50 a day if you are on a weekly package.

Personally, I'd rather they stay out of my unit. Then I don't feel like I need to be quite as persnickety about keeping everything organized. If I know there is a mid-week cleaning, I just make sure everything is put away that day. The kids always like to take their own pillows and blankets, for example, and I make sure they use bright colors so they don't get mixed up with the resorts linen.

Just returned from Reunion resort and it was fabulous. I am usually like swilshire in that I would rather have no one in my room but it was VERY, VERY nice to come back to our townhouse (which was beautiful) and finding made beds, freshened up bathrooms, vacumned carpeting and the dishwasher loaded and running. No extra fee for this daily service.
I'll put a review in the section for reviews. princess:

Do you know how much they usually charge for additional cleaning? We´ll be staying for 2 weeks in Indian Creek and I can imagine wanting someone to come and clean mid-way, after the first week. Do the management companies usually handle such requests?

For an extra fee

We never use them, I don't make my bed on vacation............
(as my grandmother would say, Why is the bed police coming)...........LOL:lmao: :scared1:

I do wash the towels, we always have a washer/dryer........:laundy: .
We're out all day enjoying our days whatever we're doing.........

Our cleaners are $65/visit, and we can request additional cleanings for the guests or they can go through our MC and request them. Rates do vary...I would guess from $65-85 depending on the cleaning company and the size of the home (larger homes obviously cost a bit more).

I think this is a great thing to do, personally, if I was there for longer than a week I would absolutely have them come in and do optional / additional cleanings! We have a cleaning company come and clean our "real" home (both of us work full time and working + 2 kids means we just don't have or want to spend time on this!), so why not do the same thing when you're on vacation?

I think it's a great way to relax and enjoy your vacation without having to worry about cleaning!

I often suggest this to guests who have stayed with us for longer periods, several have taken us up on it and been very happy they did. :thumbsup2

Villas at Grand Cypress have daily housekeeping and nightly turndown service at no extra fee. Have read great things about this facility but haven't gotten anyone on the boards to give me their first hand accounts yet.

the 1 and 2 bedroom DVC resorts booked thru CRO have housekeeping - also a price tag that is way to high....

you can rent a reservation for about 1/3 from a DVC member - provided you don't stay on Fri or Sat. No housekeeping - but you can pay extra for that - just tell the front desk when you check in.

now if you want something more reasonable.

most timeshares will provide housekeeping for an extra fee as well.

I think maybe we will try Reunion. Anyone else tried that one yet?
Only problem is when we rang they said they had some big golf tournament on when we are going. Wonder if it might be crazily busy.
