If you have a Studio next door to a 1BR and there is a lockable door in between, it can be used as a studio and a 1BR by two separate guests, or it can be used as a 2BR by a single guest.

In a lockoff, the 2nd bedroom will have 1 queen and 1 full pull out sofa bed (except OKW that has 2 queen beds)
and the kitchenette (coffee maker, fridge), thermostat and a balcony...because it's a studio.

A dedicated 2nd bedroom would have 2 queen beds, no kitchenette, and may not have a balcony

So it's a one bedroom plus a connected studio? Sounds like it would work fo my dad and her husband and daughters (2) for them and gm and gp can take the studio.

Correct.
Some don't like the extra hallway door for young children, but it sounds like a good choice for the gm and gp (if they share the queen bed)
