Am I looking at this correctly???? So I keep driving myself insane over this big family trip we are planning.... My brother and sister inlaw would like to stay in a one bedroom (its just them and my nephew who will be turning 3 on our trip they are snobs) my parents are good with a studio, my family needs the 2 bedroom we are 6, I want everyone to have there own space I hate vacationing and feeling like we are all on top of each other but it looks like I can get a 2 bedroom lock off for less points then the 1 bedroom plus studio, they would have separate entrance and can keep the adjoining door locked also they would each still have their own refrigerator and bathroom space am I right about this? It seems strange to me the same amount of space would cost less points

Yes, the two bedrooms cost less than booking a studio and 1 bedroom and yes, each will have their own entrance, climate controls if you book a lock off.

An advantage to booking the 1 bedroom and studio separately is that you can cancel one without impacting the other. If you think either your brother or your parents are likely to cancel on you, I'd book them separately and consider the extra points to do that as "insurance".

There's a cost to the system for breaking and dealing with them separately so yes, the individual components are more than if reserved as one. As Carol noted, you can't just cancel a portion of a lockoff if someone bails. And you can't guarantee the units will be close if you reserve them independently. Often the best approach is to reserve the 2 BR and the individual components until you know what you need if you have enough points. I hope you or your parents aren't paying for the villas if they are being that particular on what they want. If they want the 1 BR and are willing to pay for it, that's perfectly reasonable.

Ha!! Willing to pay that's a joke!! But exactly what my mom said to them lol We are excited to bring my nephew on his first trip so have been planning this since he was born my brother insisted we wait till he's 3 it will also be my daughters sweet 16 on the trip so it's a pretty big deal for everyone I will have the points but we also don't want to give up next years trip so planning out the points for our 2015 trip is important

We've seen many stories over the years about demanding and ungrateful family friends. I remember one where the member was providing the DVC accommodations a family member was upset they weren't paying for their groups tickets and food and many similar type of stories.

We've taken my parents before and they always pay for our dining which will be the case again this time ...I am not expecting anything from my brother because I want to give my nephew his first Disney trip not complaining about them (well maybe a little) lol just trying to figure out our options
