I just booked at 2 bedroom at the BWV for the week of Mother's Day and am taking my wonderful parents, DH, my son and two sibs. I am SO excited! However, I have never stayed at in a 2 bedroom and although, it states that it fits 8, I am wondering if the room will actually be enough space...any thoughts? Any tips for how to survive with a larger group? It's usually just the three of us....

I am SO excited to be going home and what a wonderful way to celebrate being a mom! :sunny:

the livingroom will be a little small - but you have the balcony and the eating area so everyone can be in the close.

king bed in the master, queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, queen bed and double sleeper sofa in the second bedroom. Kept in mind this is a lock off - so I put my sibling and parents in the second bedroom and kept the kids in the livingroom.

or you and your family can go in the second bedroom - the parents in the master and sibing in the livingroom.

but hey it is your membership you should get the master. (I generally don't in this situation - of course i have learned in the future - get everyone their own studio - I need my peace and quiet)

3 studios cost more than a 2-bedroom and you might not be on the same floor - but I like my peace and quiet! and you certainly don't have the WOW that you get with the 2-bedroom.

Unless you have to be at BWV, you might have better sleeping arrangements in a dedicated 2 BR at BCV, request one with 2 beds in the 2nd BR. Or for space, try an OKW 2BR.

Have a great trip.

I was just thinking the same thing.

The 2B at BWV only has two actual beds--a king in the master bedroom and a queen in the second bedroom. Then you have two full-size sofabeds in the second bedroom and living room.

If memory serves, BCV, OKW and SSR all have dedicated 2Bs with three beds and just one sofabed. I know there aren't any rooms with this arrangement at BWV, and I don't think there are any at VWL either.

Your own personal situation will answer this question better than anyone here can! Here you will get our own personal situations.

1 king, 1 queen and 2 sleep sofas definately sleeps all 7 people. Do you need more than that? Kids are usually fine on the sleep sofas, maybe not so great for adults. May be a reason to move.

If you are all in the LR all at once it could be an issue. But that would be an issue anywhere - so not a reason to move.

And 2 baths with 8 people could be an issue, but you could get that anywhere - so not a reason to move.

The sofa in the LR means less privacy for who is there. But you would have the same privacy issue at all resorts - so not a reason to move.

And not all BCVs have 2 queens. You could have a tough time getting the 2Q less than 7 months out for all nights.

We've been a couple of times in a 2BR at BWV - once with me, DH, my Brother & his wife, and 2 adult friends. And once with me, DH, DD, MIL, FIL & SIL. We found them great both times. The sleepers are (reportedly) very comfortable, though that does lead to privacy issues in the living room. It is so wonderful to have a full kitchen and laundry facilities, you'll be totally spoiled. It may be a bit crowded in the livingroom when you're all there, but that's part of the fun of being with a larger group (imagine all meeting in a regular hotel room - now that's crowded!)

Thank you for all the very helpful replies! This is a lot to think about. I do think that I will put my parents in the second bedroom. I can put my two sibs (younger brother and sister, who are used to sharing space on vacations) in the living room. Of course, DH and I, plus our DS (who is only 2) can take the Master BR. I do think it might be kinda tight but like it was posted above, regular hotel rooms are VERY tight!

I am just so excited that I want to go now! LOL! It's one thing to go with my DH and DS but it's another thing to take my parents, who will enjoying all the luxuries of DVC for the first time! Does that make sense? It's like I will be experiencing it all over again. I know, that's kinda silly...

Anyway, thank you everyone! I know the BWV will be fine...and the location is perfect. Can't wait to be in a 2-bedroom.

Thanks again...

you baby is 2 - then yes you will definitely be fine!

there is a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, and full size sleeper sofa in the second bedroom - not two full size sleeper sofa.

the queen is big enough for 2.

I would just make it plain the master is for you and your family - let them settle who sleeps where.

yes it is fun bring family and friends along - my problem was my family and friends got very jealous and down right mean!!! and I let them have the master.....

as I say separate studios for everyone.

You crack me up spiceycat!!

We had 8 in a 2 bedroom lockoff, then moved to a 2 bedroom dedicated.

I think there was more room in the dedicated because the 2nd kitchen is eliminated.

We wished for a third shower. We never used the jacuzzi tub so it felt like a real waste. If DH and I were alone, well it may have been different.

The advantage over studios? WASHER and DRYER!

Im soooo happy for you !!!

I also am planning a family vacation in 06 and cant wait to go !!::yes::

There is plenty of room. The first time we used our DVC membership, we did the 2 bedroom at BWV. There were 7 of us and there was more than enough room. Enjoy! You will have a great time! Hope you are lucky like we were and we ended up with a boardwalk view. Had our own private (so to speak) fireworks show one night when they were practising off in the distance at midnight. We watched right from our bed. :D

Yes! I am SO excited! We did end up with a Boardwalk view room, it cost extra points but I think well worth the cost. I am eager for my parents to experience the same joy and happiness that we have when we go each year. Even if it is a little cramped, it will be ok...I love the BWV.

We will be arriving on Mother's Day...does anyone know if DVC or the Boardwalk hosts anything special ANYWHERE for Mother's day? Perhaps a brunch or breakfast or dinner? Just curious....thanks again everyone.

In the past, Epoct has special free pictures for mothers on Mother's Day as part of the Flower and Garden show.

I would sugget that your family also bring a self inflating matteress for one of your siblings. Although they may be used to sharing "space" they may not want to share a bed.
