2/11/13 Wonder Sweetheart Cruise

Sounds like a deal. Did you switch your hotel from the Holiday Inn Plantation to the Best Western? I guess I thought I saw that somewhere here earlier. I booked a Marriott Courtyard on points but it is not close to Hallandale. Although that area appears to be much closer to port than where I am now. I may just switch it. I tried to keep the points low while still getting free shuttle from the Ft L airport. So you're paying for both the shuttle from the airport and then to the port the next morning, right? May be worth it for private transport with your group. I'm still deciding my best option. Thanks for the intel.

Hi....
On our way down there, we are staying at the Best Western Hallandale.

We are paying for both transportations (hotel to airport and airport to port), but we paid so little on the hotel via priceline (67.00 taxes in with free breakfast) that it was worth it for us (we are paying 7.00 per person to go to the hotel with her shuttle).

When we come back from the cruise, we go to the Holiday Inn in Plantation.

I've just checked hotwire and I don't see that option anymore in North Hollywood/Hallandale (cheapest 3* hotel is over 100.00 without taxes).

If you do decide to switch to Hallandale, let us know and we can find out if the price would drop for X more people taking the shuttle to the port on the 11th.

For some reason I'm not getting any emails from the DIS...I had no idea our group was getting so active!

Welcome to all the newbies!! So glad everyone found us! This is going to be a great cruise! Can't wait to meet at the meet and greet! It's at the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3 Aft, at 3pm on embarkation day.

I'm not getting them right away but it's slowly getting better. Hubby had to go get more supplies yesterday lol..he wasn't the happiest camper, since I was at the kids school all day.

I just got time off work approved today, so I booked this cruise!!! I'm traveling with my DH (Michael) and DM (Karyn) and we're all very excited to go to Grand Cayman and Cozumel! I've already booked the Stingray City and Tequila & Tacos shore excursions! My DM and I have been on Western Caribbean before on the Magic, but never the Wonder, and my DH has only been to Nassau & CC on the Dream. (We got married on the Dream last September!)

We were wondering if there's still room in the fish extender for us? :fish: I'm a big crafter and I have a few projects and trinkets in mind for the FE if we're not too late! Let me know, thanks!

Also, does anyone know what day the Pirate night is? We're going to try to arrange our dining rotation so we get Triton's the most nights possible, and we want to skip the food on Pirate night and go to Palo instead!

We're all very very excited to join this sailing group! :woohoo:

Pirate night is on on feb 14, day 4 at Cozumel

Thanks! Looks like I'm booking Palo for 3 on Valentine's day! Hopefully there's reservations left!

Me! Jillian (26) DisName JBeanBunny
DH Michael (30)
and my DM, Karyn, DisName: Kabuli1 (Adult!)

DM has a sensitivity to Walnuts and Pecans and can't eat them without a lot of discomfort. I'm lactose intolerant, but I only need to take a pill to eat dairy :) DH has no relevant allergies.

Our room is GTY Oceanview and we won't know the # until we get to the port... (That's what we get for booking a last-minute cruise) BUT we can let everyone know what # that is at our meet at the Promenade lounge! :thumbsup2 Are we all going to wear something lime green so we know who to look for??? ::yes::

I'm not sure who is wearing what. We did mardi gras beads last year. I'm adding your family and will update and post the list after dinner:)

Just booked the dolphin encounter and turtle farm in Grand Cayman! Sooo excited:). Anyone else doing this?

I am thinking about doing the FE thing, but we also are a GTY room, so no room assignment yet. When is the cutoff going to be?

:dumbo::figment::simba: I'm Karyn, Jillian's (JBeanBunny) mom and we are so excited about this! She got here first but I have been following along here for about a week as we have been biting our nails about whether she could get the time off and whether I could find airfare from Chicago.

Two cruises on the Dream last year - the first to do research of her wedding and then the wedding cruise in September! This time we just get to have fun! So she gets to celebrate her first Valentine's Day with her new husband sharing a cabin with her mom! Oh well . . .:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl:

This will be DCL #5 for Jillian and I and we are so happy to be going back to the Western Caribbean! We did it twice on the Magic when she was a teenager. Wow! Ten years ago!!!!!!

So thrilled to be onboard and looking forward to getting to know yous guys!

Karyn

PS. Kinda sad to be in that category of "Adult" with no age attached!:rolleyes1

There's already tons of St. Patrick's day stuff out in the Target Dollar spot, so it shouldn't be hard to find any lime green. I'm going to go look for some obnoxious green accessories next time I'm out :lmao:

I look forward to seeing the full list next week! I can't wait to get started on FE gifts!!! Somebody *cough* DM *cough* should start working on a fish extender for our room!!! ;)

Does anyone have any information about off site parking? I guess it is not the best area around there - but the $20/day is pretty steep! We will be driving down from the WDW area that morning. What is everyone else doing?

We are parking at the terminal. I'm ok with $20 a day since its secured and patrolled 24/7. We are parking there for 9 days. With the off site there is usually not a secured lot and sure not patrolled most of the time

We got our room assignment! 9B 2602 right under the kitchens - guess that what we get for booking such a deal at the last minute! Was hoping to be higher up with our OGT booking. But a cruise is a cruise and it is not winter in Chicago!:thumbsup2

I hear that! Winter in Delaware isn't much better right now...can't wait to be moved to the sunshine state for good later this year:)

I guess it was better that I got busy and didn't post this yet, as everyone has a room number now:)

We are getting so excited at my house too!

We are parking at the port. I couldn't find any deals at the Miami port like they have at Port Canaveral, so we are parking in the garage there. We are staying at Vero pre-cruise, and driving down that morning.

I'll be wearing my lime green! ::yes::

SO glad you posted this so I can get a move on crafting your gifts ;) I've never done a FE before, but with my wedding cruise last year everybody got favor bags with tons of goodies, so it's practically the same thing, right? Except this time I get to spread magic to some new friends!!!
