***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

That scheduling sounds good for no dessert party sounds good although I still do want a spot on Main Street for the parade. :D

It does seem tight if you want to watch the parade via dessert party and grab a spot at the hub. @Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL might need to rethink his strategy if he plans to watch grab desserts then go to the hub.
yes I think we are going to have to stake out a spot and then move into the hub and it won't be so bad because of how everything is timed. 8:15-10:15 is much more spread out than 8:30-10. I wonder why the change.

Also has everyone seen the reports that MNSSHP are very undersold they are now offering discounted tickets to CMs to fill them up? So I guess that is good news for us, Disney has finally priced things so high that people are saying "no." Although crowds during f&w festival on the weekends have been insane all over the parks.... but I think that is also because the weather has been horrible with hurricanes and rain and it was a gorgeous weekend so any semi-local with an AP would have come out that weekend.

Ha all, enjoying the weekend in Amish country with my aunts and sister.

Haven't caught up on all the posts but saw the chat about SOTMK. After my nephew opens up the bunch of packs I got on ebay, I can mail his "extras", if anyone is interested. @Lisa F ?
If there are any "extra" extras. . . I am interested ; )

Decided I should really bring a backpack with me on this trip. Since I'll finally be down there during a time of year when I might need some layers I'd rather be able to just stash them in a pack. Figured I'd get a packable pack as I don't need something crazy big or supportive, since I'll only be transporting stuff for me, myself, and I! So far, I'm leaning towards this one:

I have something very similar that worked great for last trip! Just big enough to hold everything I really need.

I completely agree with both of you! It seems sooo silly to have the "vip" space without full viewing. And there just isn't enough time to get there after the parade, eat and get out to find a great spot for full view. (too stressful for me :) )
If It were just 2 or 3 of us, I would definitely scope out spots early and skip the dessert party. But, because it's the 6 of us, I think I'm going to still keep it. Maybe if I hear the party is NOT sold out as we get closer, I may consider canceling it. If it's sold out, I'll hold on to it.

So I've been rethinking my backpack plan. My concern is ease of access, particularly since I'll be a solo traveler. The one item in particular that I need to have easy, frequent access to is my phone, since it will be serving as my camera/organizer/schedule/communication device/etc. I want to be hands-free when I'm on the move or sitting on a ride, but I don't want to be taking a backpack off and on every single time I need to take my phone out or put it away. Instead, I'm thinking of getting a sling bag, like this:

It has a phone pocket on the part of the strap that would be on my chest so I can just pop my phone in and out super easy. And with the one strap I feel like it will probably be easier to spin around or slip off to access the main compartment when I need to. It still has an external water bottle holder too, which was another feature that was important to me. Also, I can switch which side of the bag the bottom of the strap is attached to, so I can alternate shoulders.

I have a sling that is VERY similar to the one you picked. I used it for WDW/Uni in 2014 and this January. Really like it and that little pouch on the strap was great for tickets, credit card. It was a little too small for my android, but would work for a smaller iPhone. And I could leave it on and swing it around to the side/front. The one I have is just a little small for my liking, but that is probably a good thing because otherwise I would overpack it!

You got it!
I'm debating opening them and putting them in the card book that I got him.... was planning to surprise him on Thanksgiving and then I think that's still enough time to mail them. When are you travelling to FL?

I have resorted to looking at Disney nail "wraps". . . never even used them, but I somehow managed to buy 3. . .

Oh yes! Thank you for reminding me! Something else I can obsess over is finding a Disney Christmas manicure I like! Lol. When I went last year, for one single night just so I'd be able to experience the Osborne Lights I got a design that looked like Mickey-shaped Christmas lights. I'll have to find a pic!

Good to hear! I think the size will probably be perfect for me, since it will just be me, lol. And I usually take advantage of having purchases sent back to my resort, so don't need to worry about fitting souvenirs. And that's an excellent point about the phone fitting. I actually Googled the dimensions of my phone when I was looking at options and made sure the bag I picked had a pouch that was big enough. One of the main functions of this bag for me is easy access to the phone so it would suck if I picked one with a too small pouch! Lol

Dropping by to say hi to everyone. Regrettably, I have missed a whole lot on here but had to take a short break. About a week ago I sort of felt I was overdosing on Disney. I started to get the feeling that if I don't take a break I will be completely desensitized by the time I DO finally get there. Does this make any sense to anyone? Has anyone experienced this? Or am I just crazy? (Maybe, IDK?)

I started waaaaayyyy back in March stalking Free Dining release and since then I've pretty much been continuously stalking one thing or another. Whether it was:

-All of the initial research in general
-Stalking Free Dining announcement (If anyone is wondering. It dropped on April 25th at about 4:15am EST. I booked at 4:18am that same morning!)
-ROL
-waiting for 180 to make ADRs
-ROL again!
-waiting for 60 to make FP
-ROL yet again!!!
-then JBJB is announced and wouldn't you know it, they stopped short of releasing all of Dec. dessert parties so that's one more thing for me to obsessively wait for!
-MORE ROL WAITING (*#+!!) :headache:

Having said all that I have accepted the fact that it's going to be an awesome vacation even without ROL or JBJB dessert party........buuuuut just to be sure, I WENT AHEAD AND BOOKED CLUB VILLIAN!!!!!! I was initially concerned that it might not be "appropriate" for DD8 but after reading many reviews from parents that brought kids her age, it was really hard to find any negative comments about this event.

So here I am. Refreshed and well-rested. Ready to watch my countdown clock go all the way to 0 days!

I am truly curious to know if anyone has experienced this "overdose" feeling I was describing.
Oh, definitely on the WDW OD--I didn't look at Disboards or anything all this weekend for that exact reason!

We will head down on 11/30. . . no worries, either way really. We can all do a swap after the trip (after everyone gets a lot of extras on all these trips to the firehouse!).

good point about sold out vs. not. I wonder if any will sell out this year (good news for us if not!)

Also the 12/8 party was not a discounted party. it sucked, it was the first thursday that wasn't for the month. I think that might make dvc members/APs more likely to choose a different one. I hope lol. It didn't make me because I wanted that day and it was not worth fussing over.

@Lisa F does the schedule out for mvmcp make you lean more or against the dessert party? I'm leaning against right now :)
We are keeping our 12/8 dessert party ressie...our first dessert party ever! BUT, we are going to two MVMCPs...so we can watch the fireworks from the hub the first party and enjoy the dessert party the second.

Do you know which party is the last discounted party for AP/dvc? I think the Halloween version of that was the second one to sell out (Sept 25).

Oh, that's a good point about that! I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that since it's the first non-discounted party, and it's a weeknight it won't sell out and won't be insanely crowded!

yeah if I had two I'd give it a try. I like to see things from different views. :) but I do know what I prefer for a party from past experience and if kiddo and I get only 1 shot I want it to be in the hub!

That's great you're attending two parties!

12/6 is the last discounted party. but it is not sold out at this point (none of them are).

I thought also that there were slightly different dates for DVC vs. AP (ie DVC had more dates than AP was) but that might have been early inaccurate information. I stopped paying attention honestly after I bought my tickets, the discount is so slight - $89/$94 vs $92/97 that it was not worth fussing over the $6 for the two of us :-p

ALSO September 25th is a Sunday. i have seen people say sunday is not a crowded party but when I attended in 2014 on a Sunday (September 14th) and it was PACKED. I could not believe how crowded it was. I believe we lined up for parade seating about 90 minutes in advance if I remember correctly. I don't know if it sold out or not but it doesn't matter.

That said we had a great time. Though we didn't do any of the special characters, we saw the parade curbside main street with some planning and saw the fireworks and rode rides from 4pm on (we did NOT have parkhoppers and went to AK in the morning) and left after fireworks. did a lot of Trick or treating too, rode haunted mansion, I forget what else. It was a highlight for sure.
