***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

yeah they 'start at' $30-35. I did assume the one that looks like a sandcastle would be more. But still considering some of the other options, not horrible, esp for couples who don't want to waste an entire cake!

For the Belle one with yellow "body" with "ruffles" on her and red rose on top, I paid $50 plus tax and gratuity in 2014. The Rapunzel one had a braid, little flowers (I think) and a stand up white chocolate piece with her on it and was $85 in total this year. I was really shocked at that price, but I was surprising my friend and her family, so I went with it. I just wanted to give a heads up that it can go up way above the $30 range.

I'm working on a plan to make it happen. I have to see if I have enough rewards on Southwest to redeem towards admission tickets. Even one woukd put it in reach. If I do make it happen I'll keep it a surprise until were in the Uber heading there. :)

I didn't know you could redeem SW rewards for USO admission. That's neat.

consider a mini cake. I am almost tempted to see if I can get one for the kiddo on 12/3 because they are so cute and it is his "half birthday" lol (yes I am really reaching). I'd pay $35 for a mini exquisite 2-tier cake for 2!

You are a bad influence

I've ordered 2 of these and I wish they were $35. You may be able to get a really simple one for that, but maybe not (just wanted you to be prepared). Have you seen the prince cupcakes for like $9 you can get at the MK restaurants?

You can be the angel on my shoulder to Lisa's devil and bring me back to reality. Edit: NVM you answered in the post above!

@BDFmom do you have an American Express card? You can redeem those points for universal tickets. I have before and recently checked and they still do!

Anyone know how much the mini cake at amortt

lol! I think I will stick with amorette. By any chance do you know how much the mini cake costs?

$15 according to the disney site. Much more reasonable. But I don't think I'm going to get in and out of there without some additional pastries...

LOL!! Me too! Which is why I'm going back to DS 2x! :P Again, so many choices so little time... If I lived there, I'd probably be bankrupt... :scratchin

EDIT: Would they laugh if I got one of each??? :rotfl:

I'm wandering if they can ship some home to me, or if I could take them in my luggage. Too many food options, not enough time! I'm going to need a major detox after this vacation.

I have a question about talking mickey fast passes. I'm having doubts about one. I made one for my Monday in the Magic Kingdom (it will be the busy day that touring plans says is 9/10 crowds). I had initially decided that day to try for the Rapunzel fast pass, but as we all know they are not available for some reason or another. So currently that day I have:
  • Talking Mickey btwn 9:40-10:40 (for 4)
  • Splash Mountain (11:15-12:15 for 2 and we will rider swap since my DS can't ride)
  • Big Thunder Mountain (11:50-12:50 for 2 and will rider swap since my DS can't ride)
  • 7DMT (6:15-7:15 for 4) before our BOG dinner. We are riding 7DMT by day another time.
We are doing a ton of character meals (Chef Mickey, Garden Grill, Akershus, Disney Junior, Tusker, Crystal Palace, Ohana) so we will meet many, many, many characters. I'm wondering, should I leave Talking Mickey? Should I try and replace him with Rapunzel if that ever becomes available? My daughter loves Rapunzel but we will meet a lot of princesses at Akershus + Frozen + Ariel at her Grotto + Belle at Enchanted Tales, so maybe we don't need to waste a fast pass on Rapunzel either. Would you all replace that FP with another ride? And if so, what with?

On our MK other days we have fastpasses for: Tomorrowland Speedway, Ariel's Grotto (so we will meet her too), Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan, 7DMT by day, and Enchanted Tales with Belle.

Thoughts? I've heard Talking Mickey is so special but wonder if we could just SDFP that and focus on another ride that day?

Hmm.. I do not have experience for this but I do have this as my first fastpass at MK (9am-10am) on my first MK day. I tried putting this in touring plans without an FP and it would put the wait time at around 20-30mins but I never checked it for SDFP. (I'm sure there's availability though...) I decided just to go ahead with this and would modify my FP if I don't need it. I have a ton of character meals too but I'm hoping talking Mickey would be special since he talks.

I personally LOVE Talking Mickey. The first time we met him, I was downright flabbergasted at the wave of OMGITSTALKINGMICKEYHESGOINGTOTALKTOME hysteria that came over me as soon as we turned the corner and I saw him talking to the guests in front of us. If you've never done it before, I HIGHLY recommend it. Also, if it's your birthday, he will sing you Happy Birthday, which is downright MAGICAL. The last time I went though, we didn't have our tickets until about 4 days before we went, and I was still able to book a fastpass for mid-afternoon right after the FoF parade, so you might could just use your SDFP if you don't mind going later in the day.

I hope that would be my little one's reaction!!! Which is why I made this our first stop then riding a Main Street Vehicle after. ;)

I'm sorry, but I can't imagine a 9/10 day in the beginning of Dec. Those numbers are more like a day or so before Christmas. Also, with the way the summer and fall has been with low crowds, I just can't. There seems to be a lot of construction at the resorts which makes it seem like it's so crowded, but in reality, many rooms are out of stock. As for your FP+, I think Talking Mickey is pretty special, but I also wonder how it goes when children ask why he doesn't talk elsewhere. I can't be for sure, but will Splash have that long of line in Dec when temps can be anywhere from 30s-70s? I didn't FP+ it, I'll just do stand by or SDFP if I venture into that.

Hate to rehash about the hurricane, however my friends are safe! They live 10 minutes from Cocoa beach and they sought shelter with some family in Tampa. Not sure what the property damage is as of yet obviously, but I'm just relieved they're safe.

So, now that we know my SIL is expecting, she was originally going to do a gender reveal because she didn't find out with her first two. We'll all be in Disney, and I know they could make a cake, but does anyone know how much time they'd need to know in advance?

ETA: 72 hours.

Disney has great cake, btw!

I think you're right, I can always modify my FP if I don't need it. My DS LOVES Mickey and maybe this will be really nice for him since so much of the trip is about my DD's birthday. I can always modify the day before if I think SDFP won't be an issue, or just add something else as SDFP.

He'll sing? Wow! I can have DD wear her birthday button so he can sing to her too! She'd love that too!

Sounds like Talking Mickey is so special that I should just keep this for now. I'm not so worried about using up a FP for Splash, because I'm "sharing" it with the Big Thunder Mountain FP. My son is only 38 inches and won't be able to ride, so we grouped them together to plan on ride swapping them (me and my DD are on one, and my DH & DS are on another). When we combine them together it's like we only used one FP+. I'm really hoping the crowds aren't that bad. I'm going to prepare for the worst crowds and then hopefully be pleasantly surprised!

:offtopic:
Has anyone here ever thrown a gender reveal celebration? If you were to do on in Disney, what would you do? Keep in mind there will be 12 of us, so finding reservations isn't always the easiest (though, we're really now doing 6/6 and it's worked well)...

Disney doesn't deliver custom cakes to DS restaurants so we may need to cancel the RR and find something else for 12/3.

Any ideas?

I;ve never done one before but maybe you could ask RR if they would allow you to bring a cake in? (they may charge a plating fee?) You could get a dome cake from Amorette's... Mickey for boy, Minnie for girl?
