***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

i want to know if it does. it does appear those two are sold out while many others aren't. I'm not sure it's indicative necessarily of the party attendance in general but I think it DOES tend to be a week where people "in the know" about what a great time it is to be there go and would be more likely to do special things. If that makes sense. or maybe i am grasping at straws. This is THE MOST POPULAR dvc week of the entire year and it books up right at 11 months. The reason for that is that crowds are generally very low, but for DVC people it books up faster than christmas. So I'm wondering if basically because of the generally low crowds that week but all of the great stuff going on that there is a higher proportion of people who are going who research and even know that stuff exists. Friday and weekend parties tend to sell out much more quickly for example and those are the parties that people in the know would avoid for that reason, but those are still available for the dessert party.
Yes, makes me a little scared of how crowded it would be. Mind you, we did attend on the very last Halloween party on 2012, it was sold out and it was ok. But then again, this was 2012 and we didn't have a toddler...

Ok, I think I calculated and going deluxe dining throughout the trip does make sense with all the ADRs I have planned already even switching over Chef Mickeys to Wave breakfast... :scared:

I have a question about Celebrate the Magic and Wishes Fireworks. On non-party days, will these be Christmas themed? I think I read somewhere that they are special during the MVMCP, but after they stop offering the parties, they become the standard shows every day. But I can't seem to find that info now. I'm still going back and forth on planning to attend a MVMCP or not. Thanks in advance!

The fireworks are completely different at the christmas parties from regular wishes even though they both have "Wishes" in the name. During the holiday parties they have a special 360 fireworks display that is different (bigger and more impressive) than regular wishes.

Thanks for the response. I will take that into consideration. Are the regular fireworks Christmas themed (the music)?

No, they are just regular wishes the same as they are the rest of the year. Disney music.

I haven't been to the holiday wishes in years but I would expect it to be some combo of christmas and disney music. The halloween wishes are a lot of the spooky disney tunes.

I'm so frustrated now. I planned on doing the Wishes Holiday Dessert Party but the night I plan on doing MCMVP, it states there are no tables available. WTH! There are tables for Sun and Fri but not Tue or Thu? Strange!

Dec 6 or 8? I noticed that too and am a little concerned on how busy these parties will be.. strange...

Well, I ended up changing my MVMCP night. It's a good thing I didn't purchase these tickets before I knew about the dessert party so it could have been worse. I'm now doing the party on the Sun instead of the Thu which is what I initially wanted to do. Since I added on the Saturday night a couple of days ago, it will work out. Now to change my plans for the 2 days! Oh Boy! Does this tweaking ever end?!:rolleyes2

Hmm I anticipated doing a Thursday party as well thinking it would be less crowded than Friday or Sunday (unfortunately cannot do a Tuesday) based on what I had read and on touring plans. Maybe I should look into modifying my plans as well...

I'm afraid to ask but what did you read on Touring Plans about Tuesday nights?

Tuesday is supposedly least busiest day in the week. From previous years at least... I could not do a Tuesday either because we're moving from a split stay then so I decided on a Thursday. A little worrying but I'm hoping it's a booking glitch like @Lisa F suggested.

I was looking based on this quote "Day of the week tends to matter as well, with Monday through Thursday evenings being less busy than the weekend events." from this page (https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/events/mickeys-very-merry-christmas-party#), projections from 2015 (Sundays closer to Christmas with higher crowds than Thursdays http://blog.touringplans.com/2015/04/10/disney-world-mickeys-very-merry-christmas-party-2015/), and overall price of the ticket.

I read somewhere that the starwars party is only 200 people. I wonder how many people are in the wishes parties? it is a teeny fraction of the total admission so I'm not sure it necessarily correlates to overall crowds.

MAYBE everyone attending Tuesdays and Thursdays knows they are better days to attend based on crowds and have been obsessively planning their trips 180+ days in advance and jumped on the first opportunity to try a new dessert party with reserved seats to alleviate the crowds even more rather than last minute people just going on the weekends?

that's what i was trying to say before. it's like how this week of december is THE HARDEST to get at DVC. You have to book at 11 months out. It's not a busy time overall but for DVC members in the know it is the prime time to go. if you look at DVC bookings you'd think the parks would be PACKED but really fully sold out DVC bookings is not indicative of the parks as a whole.... the reason DVC is sold out is that it is a great time to go - low points, low crowds, all of the xmas stuff.

fingers crossed it's not busy. ADR wise, I think it's all pretty even when I look at availability at MK on 6th, 8th, 9th and 11th.

Same here! I'm actually doing the party on a split stay day now but I pretty much have it planned out to do MK in morning and then lunch either at MK or one of the MK resorts since we will be checking into WL that day. So check-in is around 3 and then head out again about 4:30-5:00 since we're close to MK so that part works out. Plans do go awry at times, so here's hoping! This way we are also doing it early in the trip so that's a plus.

I would love to do the SW Dessert Party as well once dates are firm. Even though I'm not a huge fan of sweets, I would love to experience it at least once. I'll have to see. One of the reasons in my thinking of the Wishes Dessert Party is that I've heard that Disney no longer has FP+ for MK parades and events so having a area roped off may be nice. I know I like doing that for Illumunations which is why I always get a FP for it.

Same here. I worry that I'll spend my day waiting for things and my 2 year old will just lose and the waiting will be for nothing! I've looked at dessert parties (star wars and wishes) as well as the MSEP package! I'm waiting for star wars but I think I will let go of MSEP...
