Is this a good time to go? What is the weather like? Crowds? We know that they do the cast parties the first week and close the parks early and that is ok.... But is this a good time to go?

EXCELLENT time to go; matter of fact it is my favorite time. For me (being from MD) temp is great. Actually, it was a little humid a few weeks ago - went down 11/28-12/1. Everywhere is decorated for the holidays and SO festive. I find it fun just to go around to all of the hotels and look at their Christmas trees (all themed to the particular resort) and gingerbread houses. Crowds are very light - can pretty much get on a ride, get off and go back on. If you like the "themed" parties you can attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party to get you in the mood:santa: And then there is the Candelight Processional and reading of the Christmas Story (by a celebrity moderator) over at EPCOT. Pools are heated, so that isn't a huge deal. Shorts weather during day....light jacket/pants later in the evening.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I say yes:thumbsup2! But I'm biased, we're taking our honeymoon 7-14.

All I would say is to be careful when pop warner week is. We went Dec 9 to avoid this and I'm glad I did after reading complaints about the kids at the hotels and parks. We used touring plans to figure the crowd level index for the time frame we were thinking and were very pleased with the crowds or lack there of. Good luck and have fun planning!!!

Are you planning to arrive or check out on the 8th?

We went 12/12-12/17 and found it to be extremely crowded...more so than any of our Spring Break or school vacation trips. The week before is Pop Warner week as the PP mentioned. That is a very big reason to avoid scheduling at that time for some people, but others don't mind.

Our weather was absolutely perfect, but it was 10 degrees above their average temp. We enjoyed low 80s and high 70s daily. However, I was nervous ahead of time because I had seen so many pictures of people there in December wearing thick jackets, scarves, gloves, hats, earmuffs, etc. I will say that the morning we left it was SO cold that even I (a native Bostonian) was freezing. It softened the blow of going home and didn't effect our trip though.

Actually, we are going from 12/2-12/9 and from what I've read it there will be a disney book authors/website owners convention at that time. I really hope that there will be no pop warner then - that would just be to much! Its there a way to find out when it will be?

That should be POP Warner week - this year it was 12/2- 12/8 and they book the same week every year (1st week of December).

As for the Disney book authos andd website; that is probably MouseFest. Next yr will be 12/11 to 12/15 for thr land portion (Cruise is 4 days earlier, 12/7-11). Many Disers usually attend - it is not a huge event that would change crowds at the Parks. 800 people registered for 2007, but of course, more attended, but not a few thousand.

I would stay away from POP Warner week and arrive the day or day after they depart.

Have a great trip!!!:santa:

What is Pop warner week? If it is so bad. How will the crowds be the week after?

Well thanks for the info - I think we will be changing our trip to 12/9-12/16 now. The hotel pricing will be the same since the holiday pricing doesn't start till the 18th. Just hope the airline pricing will be the same...

This was posted on another thread about where they stay:

Thanksgiving is late next year, so Pop Warner might be the week of Dec 7, which would be the first full week in December. To have it the week of November 30 they would be traveling Thanksgiving weekend. Before changing plans, I would find out the official date.

I was there December 1 to 7 at BWV, it was great. Except for Dec 1, crowds were fairly low. Did see some of the Pop Warner cheerleaders but it wasn't a big deal.

We've gone both Pop Warner week (2006) and the week after, this year (Dec 10-17.) We had great weather and low crowds both years. As posted before, it is a good idea to avoid Pop Warner (especially if you plan on staying at the All Stars or Port Orleans). We stayed at CSR and had no problem with the Pop Warner groups.

The only unusually large crowd we encountered this year, was the evening of Monday Dec 10. We went to MGM to see Fantasmic and the Osbourne lights and it was MOBBED!!!

Enjoy your trip! It is really a great time of year to go!!!:santa:

I checked the Disney calendar, they do not list dates for the 2008 Pop Warner. However, they are showing the 2008 Old Spice Classic basketball tournament at Wide World of Sports Nov 27 to Dec 1, which I think would conflict with Pop Warner if PW started Nov 29 or 30 (this year PW officially started on a Saturday).

We were also there at MGM that night and could not believe how crowded it was and awful to get back to the hotel. That was the only prob we had that week though. We specifically planned to arrived the day after Pop Warner and stayed away from parks on weekends. It worked out great for us!!

Well, I just wrote them asking if they can tell me whats going on for December of next year. I'm getting very worried since I'll be staying at the POFQ with two sets of grandarents, and dont want to have 1000's of screaming kids running around the whole place - I'll have my own to contend with!
Once/if they get back to me I'll let you know!
