We have never been to DLP, but have been to WDW and DL and always stayed in Disney hotels/DVC. I need some advice re the hotels at DLP. I have heard that they are not the same standard as WDW and wondered whether it is worth splurging on DLP hotel, or would I be disappointed?! What are the opinions of people who have stayed there in comparrison to the other hotels? Or should I stay longer at a cheaper hotel (Sequoia/Newpor/New York)?

Please help!!!!!!!

If it was a choice between a better hotel or a longer stay in the park I'd go for the latter every time but then we use the hotels to sleep and shower in only so have no need to pay more. Do you spend much of the holiday in the hotel?

hi, I picked the NY over DLH due to the price, NY is a lovely hotel.
If its your first trip i would choose to stay longer.

my daughter is asking to stay at the "pink hotel" so what i plan to do is go when the promotion such as 4 nights for 3 nights and use the child goes free offers as this does bring the price down to what we would pay at NY.

Sequoia is a favourite amongst many on this board. Cheyenne even at the value end is considered one of the better themed hotels.
So I think you'll have a great time regardless of hotel.
Given the option of more days I'd choose another hotel. You can always dine in the DLH or go for a drink in Fantasia without staying there :)

None of the hotels at DLP compare with the WDW hotels but are still nice. The Newport bay doesn't even come close to the Beach Club at WDW for example. However we have enjoyed our stays at the Cheyanne and SL, Newport bay fell short on what we expected but that was our first stay and we expected everything to be more on a par with WDW. The answer for us is not to compare and take each one on its own merits. The Disney Hotel is certainly in a classs of its own but always seems rather clinical to us ( of course all of this is a matter of opinion and others will have a different view ) Josh would love to stay at the pink palace and we might one day but I think we will try the New York next. The NY has its very own fan club on this board:cheer2: so we might just give it a try although I still think it appears clinical.

IMHO it depends on how many are travelling with you / young kids /maybe grandpa ...
We stayed at DL hotel with my OLD parents and they appreciated to be able to come back to the hotel for a nap or to warm up a little!!! but I think it's pricey for the service you get and , IMO, it's not so up scale as Grand Floridian at WDW ...
Sequoia lodge is a much smaller "cousin" to WDW Wilderness lodge , I think it's well themed...though simpler and not so ... majestic. We LOVE SL !!!! and we found the staff to be very kind and helpful!!! also found that their two restaurants have very good food - at reasonable price ... IMO !!

Maybe you could read some of the trip reports here ... to make up your mind !!!

Whatever hotel you choose ... you'll have a pleasant stay !!! just think that this is France, not WDW !!!

It will be just me and son aged 5 yrs and as it is our first trip I want to make sure tha it's a positive experience!!! However, having not stayed at any of them I feel as though I'm taking pot luck!!!!!

We have stayed at Wilderness Lodge and Yacht Club at WDW so would probably not go for Sequoia or Newport for fear of unfavourable comparisons......so it's New York or DLP hotel......which has got the nicer rooms, restuarants, facilities etc?!!

If your son is just five, I might go with DL hotel - just for the conv of being able to return within a few minutes - although NY is only 10 mins away (for an adult!!)

i would agree with the location, if you had a young child. my daughter was 3 and it would of made things easier to be located nearer.

However the hotel NY has a fantastic pool and fantastic facilities, it is quite formal though.

I'm suscribing. We're going in July and I am really confused about where to stay.

I think it is a beautiful hotel- I would love to stay there. When we are DLP though, we spend no time at all in our hotel- in summer the hours are so long, we are in the parks, and in October when we have been we are out until about 10pm- at the park then eating in the village.

::MickeyMo Hi Debs Hill,
Have you considered staying at the Hotel Cheyenne at DLP. It is one of the cheaper on-site hotels, but l am told the cowboy/western theme is very good and one of the best hotels as far as the theming goes. So that's why we've opted to stay there with our 2 children. Would the western theme appeal to your 5 year old son? You can do a virtual tour of all the DLP hotels on the official disneyland paris. Hope this helps ::MinnieMo

Our son loved the Cheyanne ! Any little boy would in my opinion, they aren't so worried about creature comforts. (Having had 4 boys ) I think if the parents / carers are happy so is the child so I'd go for what you would be most happy with.

I've stayed in both the Cheyenne and Sequioa lodge.(the first with two 8 year olds and the latter with DD(3)).I personally preferred the theming of the Cheyenne but did appreciate that the SL was less of a walk to the park. I'd agree that I'd spend less on the hotel if it meant an extra day in the park and you can always eat at the DLH as Reid suggested.
My vote is therefore in staying at the Cheyenne .

I agree the Cheyenne is a great hotel and your little boy will probably love the Wild West theming. It would be a LOT LOT cheaper than the Disneyland Hotel but if you're looking for real luxury be aware that the Cheyenne (along with the Santa Fe as the two cheapest hotels) don't have the same facilities as the more expensive hotels e.g. no swimming pool, no table service restaurant).

Let us know what you decide!

I may be the only one who thinks like this, but choice of hotel is bottom of my priority list.

Firstly, I'M AT DLRP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly, I'm there for the parks, the atmosphere, the rides, the experience, and most of all my children.

Thirdly, I'm there from rope drop to park closing. After that I have free reign for hotel bars/restaurants/village dining/local dining etc.

Lastly, my room is for sleep/shower/breakfast only so whats all the snobbery with hotels ?

I've notice a certain "our hotel is better than yours" attitude lately with posts - surely hotel choice is unimportant ? So far we've been to Newport, Cheyenne and NY - Cheyenne wins for kiddy factor :)

I join this last post. In my opinion, the hotel comes last on my list, though I admit I always stay on site. Since I am going by train, I don't feel like relying on public transportation to go to and from the parks.

I have always staed at the Santa Fe. Last time, we have spent 6 hours in the room. Sleeping in a clean bed and taking a shower in a clean bathroom.
We had breakfast in Disneyland, thanks to Good Morning Fantasyland. If I want to swim, I'll go to one of the pools in my neighbourhood at home.

For dinner, we always go to the village or to one of the other hotels (winter), or eat at one of the table service restaurants in the park (summer).
Really, I prefer to buy some more souvenirs/collectibles/whatever than spending money on all kinds of hotel features I don't use. I am there for Mickey Mouse, not for a hotel. If I want to spend time in a luxurious hotel, I'll go to Tunesia or Turkey, and enjoy a luxurious hotel WITH nice weather at just a fraction of the Disneyland-price!

But, that's just my opinion, and everyone has other priorities. In my case, since I travel MANY times a year, I don't like to spend huge amounts of money to a hotel. To others, there Disneyland-visit is their only vacation, and they like to splurge then. It's up to everyone for themselves to decide!

I am the same with what use we put the hotels to, HOWEVER, there are plenty of people who make far more use of their hotel than we would. Some people, particularly those with younger and more senior members, won't want to stay all day in the park and being able to have a rest-bite in the hotel is of paramount importance. In those cases the choice of hotel can be make or break the trip - the DL hotel would be a more suitable candidate than the Cheyenne if the person doesn't want to walk far or wait for buses and wants a bit of luxary rather than the basic set-up of the Cheyenne.

Hotel choice is only unimportant to people who holiday in DLRP like you and I - for all the others it's very important. We are planning to start a family very soon and when we go back to the parks our lifestyle will be totally different - maybe we'll prefer somewhere like the DL instead of the Cheyenne, who knows!

As for how much a hotel costs - if it adds to the enjoyment and comfort during someone's stay then it's got to be worth it. I've been on holidays in the past where the hotel has been so bad it's spoiled the vacation and spending more money on a better hotel would have made things much better, even though we only selpt there and showered there. We all work hard so spending money on a good hotel is something to look forward to - holidays are a very important part of life and that time where you can get away and forget about the routine things in life - if you've had a great time then the money was well spent.

I certainly see no more than friendly banter as far as hotels go on this board - we all have our favourites (like me with the Cheyenne) and we all like to talk about them but that's as far as it goes, nobody ever criticises anyone else choices or tells them their wrong - it's just different people with different opinions derived from different lifestyles and desires.

We plan to go to Disneyland Resort Paris once a baby is on the way (shopping trip amongst other things - like numerous POTC rides) - depending on how far down the line we are Denise may prefer the locality of the DL hotel and I certainly wouldn't think twoce about booking it - how awesome to tell our child that the first hotel he/she ever stayed in, before he/she was even born, was the Disneyland Hotel in DLRP - money well spent? You bet!

That's the case for us. The troops are bedded just after 8pm; even on holidays, so everyone enjoying the hotel is part of the holiday.
Happy children = happy mum and dad :goodvibes

For me - the choice of hotel is important. Having small children we do spend more time in the room than most people. Indeed on my last visit with my DD age 5, we spent more time in the room than in the parks - so that lovely comfy room at the Newport Bay was a pleasure to spend time in!!! And as we always visit DLP in the winter, the weather doesn't always encourage us to stay in the parks!!!

The NY has its very own fan club on this board

Hello - here I am!!! :wave2: IF you're still thinking of a choice between the Disneyland Hotel and the New York, I would say that the two have very similar facilities and similar size rooms. It just depends if you want to be right next to the park, or which decor you and your DS prefer. Though if you are happy to stay at the Cheyenne, then I have no doubt that your DS would love it there. Have you checked out the DLP virtual visits?

I've notice a certain "our hotel is better than yours" attitude lately with posts - surely hotel choice is unimportant ?

I can assure that it's all a bit of fun on my part!!! :)
