1st trip to DL, 1st Anniversary, 1st time on the coast...COMPLETED!!

..................TOON TOWN CONTINUED.....................

So after we walked around a bit, Jason decided that he wanted to ride Gadget's Coaster even though it looks a lot like Goofy's Barnstormer in DW. Ok whatever I agreed. We weren't the only adults in line though so that made me feel better! Haha!

dl626.jpg

This was his response once we got off the coaster.......

dl627.jpg

:rotfl2:

Anyone remember Gadget from Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers? Well this coaster was themed after her! Very cute!

We walked through Minnie's house again because of the low crowds....it was neat being able to look through the kitchen this time without everyone in there!

dl628.jpg

dl629.jpg

MY FAVORITE!!! Hehe!

dl630.jpg

Outside, she has a fountain!!

dl631.jpg

I think she talks to you through the fountain if I remember right! Haha!

dl632.jpg

A few more pictures in Toon Town, and then we were through!

dl633.jpg

dl634.jpg

The third piggy bank...smart pig! haha!

................................CONT..........................

...............................CONT.....................

We walked back over to Fantasyland once we were finished with Toon Town because I wanted to ride the Storyland Canal Boats again to get pictures (of course!). :rotfl2:

dl635.jpg

A few flowers while waiting in line.

You could tell that it was a Friday and that crowds were picking up because it was getting full and it was only 9 a.m.!!

dl583.jpg

(I took these on our way to Toon Town...that's why there's no people in them!)

dl584.jpg

dl585.jpg

Once you board a boat for Storybook land, you go through Monstro's mouth and you end up in a tiny little town...so cute!

dl586.jpg

dl587.jpg

I cannot remember whose castle this is!!

dl588.jpg

Definitely Agrabah!!

dl589.jpg

Cinderella's castle....you can't see it here but on the ride, they even had a miniature pumpkin coach halfway up the hill! Too cute!

dl590.jpg

Baby duckies!!

dl591.jpg

Mr. Toad's house!

Up next: More Disneyland! YAY! :rotfl2:

How freakin cool! Man, this TR has me wanting to go to DL bad!

Is that a hidden mickey on the phone your DH is standing beside in toontown? It's not really that hidden, but neat nonetheless.

I love DL Toontown! It had everything, Five and Dime, Bank, Fire station, etc. so much better than WDW. I love the cars too they remind me of the car on Roger Rabbit. I can't remember his name. The one that talked. Anyway...

Awesome as always!

Nice updates. Please tell me you got to see Remember Dreams Come True as part of your stay.

:goodvibes Great updates!!!

I know I would love the storybook ride! I have always wondered what it looked like!

Why thank you!!!

Haha I'm glad our crazy pictures make you laugh! We just love to have fun and laugh at each other!!! Roger Rabbit does spin, yes ... it's not too bad though and like the teacups, it has a "wheel" inside the vehicle that you can spin and it'll make your car spin a lot!

LOVED Batman!! Great movie!!! I didn't hear that he was arrested today! That's too bad! What ashame! I have a hard time picturing him as Batman, though....I still see him as young sweet Laurie on Little Women!! :rotfl2:

Yes! I remember him in Little Women! :rotfl: I haven't seen that movie in so long - I must look for it! He's actually been my favorite since American Psycho. Creepy, I know! Why would I like the psycho from American Psycho? :confused3 But that movie isn't as gruesome as it sounds, and isn't nearly as gross as what I've heard about the book.
I  love  your pics from the Storyland Canal Boats! It looks like such a cute ride!

And I have to agree TT looks much cooler in DL than MK!

Edit - I just re-watched some scenes from American Psycho on YouTube and it is pretty brutal. So even though I really like the movie, I'm not recommending it to you! I don't want you to watch it and then think - what is wrong with her?!

Great update Karen!

I was reading the back of your voucher for the Toontown Madness. Did you get one of those scratch maps? That sounds like a fun game!

Did you make the sticker on your Mousekeeping envelope yourself? I would like to make some for my December trip.

Thanks! :goodvibes

OMG Little Women. I was obsessed with him as Laurie lol I also had a friend in University who looked like him so much. Well to my opinion. He turned me down hahahaha

AWESOME!!!! I love toontown! It looks amazing compared to the WDW one!
i am sure Greg will beeline for the fire engine :) lol!

Great Update as always!!! I love your orange shirt.

I've never seen the Little Women movie, but I did read the book. And for my drama class we did a scene from it. And I was the only one who had read the book!

The book is awesome I've read it a million times. The Winona Ryder version of Little Women is good!

very smart pig hehehe

:rotfl2: You're not kidding!! :rotfl2:

awe. That boat ride seems very nice!

It was very nice and peaceful! So cute!

How freakin cool! Man, this TR has me wanting to go to DL bad!

Why thank you!! :goodvibes Yes that is a hidden mickey on the phone behind Jason! The Roger Rabbit ride cars ARE those cars from the movie that talked! Kinda neat, huh? I'm still confused about the whole "Roger Rabbit/Disney merger"....Jason swears up and down that Roger Rabbit is NOT Disney. :confused3

Nice updates. Please tell me you got to see Remember Dreams Come True as part of your stay.

Yes we did, just not up close. That's ok though, really. Just gives me another reason to return!! lol! Thanks for reading along!

:goodvibes Great updates!!!

I know I would love the storybook ride! I have always wondered what it looked like!

Thank you so much! I wondered what the ride looked like, too! I've always seen pictures of Monstro's mouth but never inside....such a classic!! :goodvibes

Yayyyy!!!! You're back! Great update! :)

:thumbsup2 Thank you so much!! Glad you are enjoying it!

:rotfl2: I haven't seen Little Women in forever either but I used to LOVE that movie!!!! I've never seen American Psycho. How funny!!! Thank you so much! The Storyland Canal Boats are super cute!!! lol...about the edit of American Psycho. I don't think I've ever heard of it anyway...lol!

Great update Karen!

I was reading the back of your voucher for the Toontown Madness. Did you get one of those scratch maps? That sounds like a fun game!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Thank you!!! Yes that scratch map was from Toon Town Morning Madness! They gave us each one as we walked through the gates! It's a really cute map!! I did not make the envelopes myself....I printed the images from the DISigns board onto stickers and put those on the envelopes! They have a lot to choose from! The ones that I used from our WDW trip were from www.themouseforless.com They have some really cute ones over there! :goodvibes

OMG Little Women. I was obsessed with him as Laurie lol I also had a friend in University who looked like him so much. Well to my opinion. He turned me down hahahaha

LOL! ME TOO!!!! That's funny!! :rotfl2: Sorry that the Laurie look alike turned you down! :rotfl2:

AWESOME!!!! I love toontown! It looks amazing compared to the WDW one!
i am sure Greg will beeline for the fire engine :) lol!

Lol!! The fire engine is so cute!! The entire land is cute! Y'all are going to have so much fun! Thanks for following along!! :goodvibes

Great Update as always!!! I love your orange shirt.

I've never seen the Little Women movie, but I did read the book. And for my drama class we did a scene from it. And I was the only one who had read the book!

Thank you! I got the shirt from Aeropostale. How funny! I would have loved to have been in a play of Little Women! That would have been a lot of fun!! :thumbsup2

The book is awesome I've read it a million times. The Winona Ryder version of Little Women is good!

YES that's the one that we are talking about...the one with Winona Ryder in it! I totally agree......SO good!!!

This next update is huge...you might have to read it in installments! :rotfl2:

Friday, April 11, 2008 - Continued - Disneyland/California Adventure AND TWO parades!!

Warning: Super huge long update!! :rotfl2:

After leaving Fantasyland, walked over to New Orleans Square area and rode Pirates (again....still trying to find that darn pirate that looks like Walt Disney!) then over to the Haunted Mansion again, just to!

dl636.jpg

On our way to Haunted Mansion, we saw this anchor and when I saw "Jean Lafitte", I had to stop and read! We "celebrate" Jean Lafitte in our town once a year by a Festival. There's rumored legend that Jean Lafitte buried treasure (contraband) in our town. I found this on Google........ "This time Lafitte sailed north to Louisiana, where his crew encamped for several weeks on the high bluff. Again his crew buried a large sea chest on the shores of the lake." Every year, the festival is in May and they start it off by "Pirates" riding their "Pirate Ships" into shore and they make the MAYOR WALK THE PLANK INTO THE LAKE! If you know how dirty our water is down here, you'd really really really think that's grosse!!!! So anyway, when I saw this all the way in California, I had to stop and take a picture! lol!

dl637.jpg

After exiting Haunted Mansion, we walked over to Splash Mountain. I decided to wear my poncho because I didn't want to get as wet as you do now on the WDW version!

dl638.jpg

dl639.jpg

This is my FAVORITE ride at MK!!!

It was funny seeing how this ride was VERY different from the MK version. The track is still the same but the layout and the scenery is completely different!

However, I didn't get to enjoy this ride as much because I took a picture and this..........

dl640.jpg

....... is what came out. My flash DID NOT go off. My heart dropped and I panicked! Was it BROKEN??

dl641.jpg

Sooo I tried another shot. Definitely changed settings to make the flash go off. No flash.

Ooook...I've had ENOUGH mishaps this week! I do NOT need my camera to break on me!!!!!

dl642.jpg

We went outside and tried another picture...me in my poncho. The flash popped up but no light went off. My bulb could NOT be dead! The dang thing is not even a year old!

After tinkering with it for a while, I realized that if the dang flash is broken, then it's broken and there's nothing I can do about it.........SO, when life hands you lemons, MAKE LEMONADE!

We walked over to the Mark Twain to ride! I was excited to see the scenery all around the lake because I remember this also from old black and white footage of Walt and Disneyland!

dl643.jpg

dl644.jpg

On board.....

dl645.jpg

While waiting to embark, we realized that we were getting kinda hungry. It was about 10 a.m. and I thought that maybe a "brunch" would be a good idea. Jason agreed so I pulled out my "picture list".

dl646.jpg

I know you can't see it but it was about 9 pages long all taped together. Whenever we would talk about food, I'd pull out my list of things I had to eat, most of them recommendations by the DIS Boards!! :rotfl2: Dork? Yes I am!

Before too long, the ship set sail!

dl647.jpg

dl648.jpg

dl649.jpg

I absolutely loved it all! Really reminded me of happy times from my childhood!

dl650.jpg

dl652.jpg

........................CONT......................

.................CONT.....................

The only other breakfast item on the list that I had not yet eaten was Mickey Beignets. Being from the south, I'm really really hesitant to try southern food anywhere else. Take Gumbo for example. I saw a picture of Disneyland's "VERSION" of Gumbo and I was like, "Oooookkkkk!" It had RED RICE in it. WHAT is that?!?! No red rice, thank you. So then I figured, how can you mess up beignets? PLUS, they are shaped like MICKEY and I was on a Mickey Mouse food hunt! So we decided to go with Cafe Orleans.

dl653.jpg

On problem is the sign is hidden and it took us forever to find the dang place!

dl654.jpg

Menu!

dl651.jpg

We did get to sit outside!!

dl655.jpg

Trying to decide what he wants to eat! (I already knew!) lol!

dl656.jpg

They look SO GOOD!!

dl657.jpg

Jason's breakfast was good, too!

dl658.jpg

dl659.jpg

Loved it!

Once we finished up with breakfast, we decided to walk back towards California Adventure. We had practically done everything we could think of to do in Disneyland!

dl660.jpg

On our way out, we saw this guy!

dl661.jpg

And of course we stopped and watched! lol!

dl662.jpg

I loved how there were a LOT of older men in this band...what a neat way to enjoy your retirement!! Jason would love it!

dl663.jpg

We watched for a while but there show was kind of short so when it finished, we walked across to DCA. The crowds were REALLY picking up!

First thing we saw when we walked through the gates of DCA?

dl664.jpg

You guessed it! High School Musical 2!!

dl665.jpg

Jason reluctantly watched it with me. Still haven't talked him into going to see HSM 3 in theatres yet. I have a feeling that'll be one I'll have to see by myself! lol!

dl667.jpg

What time is it? SUMMER TIME!! Haha!

One thing that really sticks in my mind about this show is a girl, probably middle school age who was sitting in a wheel chair very front of the crowd line on the left side of the stage. She knew absolutely EVERY movement, word, etc. to the songs that the performers were singing. I thought it was so adorable!

When the show was finished, we walked over to Bug's Land to see "It's Tough to be a Bug".

dl668.jpg

We tried taking a picture of Jason in his bug eyes but with no flash, that didn't work!

dl669.jpg

The rest of the area was mostly play areas for the kids so we skipped out on the rest and made our way over to the Mission Tortilla Factory...

dl670.jpg

You get a free sample of a tortilla at the end!

dl671.jpg

.....and then across to the Sourdough bread Factory!

dl672.jpg

Thought this was cute!!

..............................CONT..........................

.........................CONT.......................

dl673.jpg

We were going to try Grizzly River Run but the line was something outrageous like 120 minutes long or something! No thank you!

dl674.jpg

dl675.jpg

We decided to skip out on this one until tomorrow!

By this time, it was getting later on in the afternoon and we still had a few things in DTD to do so we walked over to the Marketplace!

First stop: Marcelline's Confectionery!!

dl676.jpg

Look at the hidden mickey on the bag!!! Too cute!

The place smelled SO good and the choices...omg....they were so hard! I wanted one of EVERYTHING!!! :rotfl2:

dl677.jpg

Jason decided on a chocolate covered strawberry

dl678.jpg

And I got a chocolate covered pretzel and a mickey shaped turtle.

It all tasted AMAZING, of course!

I wanted Jason to make a Build - A - Bear (I have one for me from the Houston mall all decked out in Pink Astros Gear so I wanted Jason to have one, too!).

dl679.jpg

He decided on a Boxer

dl680.jpg

Named it Leroy Jenkins (Halo joke)

dl681.jpg

Made it Roar like a Lion

dl682.jpg

And dressed him like Peter Pan

dl683.jpg

Poor CONFUSED Leroy!!!! :rotfl2:

Parade time was coming up for the Parade of Dreams and I really wanted to see this before we left so we walked over to DL. We hadn't yet seen Billy Hill and the Hillbillies yet either so that was our first stop!

dl684.jpg

(Sorry remember the flash is broken!) I really enjoyed their show! It was very cute!!

dl685.jpg

This impressed me the most! They played each other's strings!!

BengalBBQ_121804_AVP1.jpg

(Courtesy of Mouse Planet)

We picked up supper at the Bengal Barbeque.

dl686.jpg

Beef

dl687.jpg

Chicken

dl688.jpg

And Veggies

We bought them then walked over to Main Street for a parade spot! We split the three skewers between the two of us.

It was very good but a little on the expensive side. If you were eating this for a main meal, then you need to buy more than 1 skewer and they are kinda pricey....good, but pricey.

.......................CONT........................

......................CONT........................

The winners of the Disney Dreams Suite opened up the parade. Oh how I wished that were us!

dl689.jpg

dl690.jpg

Before too long, the parade began!

dl691.jpg

Peter Pan and The Disney Faries were the start of the parade!

I was really impressed by all of the color in this parade!

dl692.jpg

Welcome to our family time! :)

dl693.jpg

You ever see dancing spoons, forks, or knives? :)

dl694.jpg

dl695.jpg

dl696.jpg

dl697.jpg

Gepetto's float was really cool!

dl698.jpg

dl699.jpg

dl700.jpg

The parade stopped by us at the Ariel float. We were both kind of confused thinking that it was stuck or something had happened. Neither of us realized that it was "supposed" to stop. The performers in front of us seemed to be looking at each other like "I dunno what happened" so that's why we thought that maybe it wasn't supposed to stop or something! lol!

dl701.jpg

dl702.jpg

These flowers could jump up and down really high! It was really cool!

dl703.jpg

The White Rabbit on roller skates!! :rotfl2:

dl704.jpg

My FAVORITE float!!!

.............................CONT..............................

..........................CONT..............................

dl705.jpg

dl706.jpg

dl707.jpg

I loved the Dwarfs!

dl708.jpg

Jester Goofy!! :rotfl2:

dl709.jpg

dl710.jpg

Love the silhouette of Walt and Mickey at the top of the float!

dl711.jpg

dl712.jpg

These two goofballs were at the end of the parade! hehe!

The parade was gorgeous and we loved it! I did think that it was kind of short (less floats) than the parades I had seen at WDW but these floats looked like they took a WHOLE lot more work than others I've seen before. The parade was SO colorful and lively! I really enjoyed it!

After the parade, we practically followed the massive swarms of crowd over to DCA. I guess most of them had the same idea that we did! The Electric light Parade!!! Something I remember as a child at Disney World (as the Main Street Electrical Parade!)!!!

We decided to hit the Animation Studio one more time, however....and this time, we go to draw the big cheese himself!!!

dl713.jpg

With no flash working, we decided to get in as much light as we could possibly find and hold as still as possible! Where'd we find to stand? OF course the most light was coming from the DVC booth!!! :rotfl2:

dl714.jpg

Mickey!! Don't laugh, I can't draw for BEANS!!!
