Hi all :)
Im trying to find out more info on going to DLP..We were thinking about driving coming from Ireland. Going around the last week of july/first week of August...
Any thoughts on...anything????lol hotels..Ferries...anything!! they'll be 2 adults, 4 yr old and possibly a 15yr old(heeh ya gotta have a babysitter!!!) :rotfl2:

Soo looking forward to trying to get this trip together...been to disneyland in anaheim a couple of times, about 15 years ago...and cant wait to go again!!!

Thanks!!!!:dance3::woohoo::woohoo:

Hi snowy we're doing our first trip beginning of july also from ireland. We looked at the ferries and driving but tbh thought it was a lot handier flying as we just wanted to get there asap and when we costed ferries diesel etc the flights worked out cheaper.

Depending on where you are in ireland have a look at flying from belfast, both the international and city airports particularly with the strength of the euro at the moment. Plenty of flights with the normal lowcost airlines.

We booked the santa fe which seems basic but we're only intending to use it as a place to kip at night.

We are going that time as well and got a good deal on Newport bay with 40% off (it was cheaper than Santa Fe which is the cheapest hotel as there was no offer on for that one)

Its worth playing round with prices with hotels and dates as with the offers on at the moment it can be cheaper going the previous day etc depending on offer availibility.

I was pricing up for a work colleague the other day for end of July and came up with a price for him for Cheyenne but then changed the day of arrival by one day later and it was over £100 cheaper as the 40% offer was available .

Thanks all , just starting to look at things so will take all advice on board, just looked real quick at flights there and it's just over 200euros flying easyjet from Belfast as opposed to Aer Lingus outta Dublin...If we decide to fly i know which way ill be going lol

A friend said to check out flights and stuff to Florida as some of them are comin in the same price as going to paris..could that be the case???

to be honest depending on where you are flying could be the best option. i am from cork and i paid just over 300 euros for flights for three people including two bags. but thats for november

during the summer though flights are crazy expensive unless you have booked in advance and gotten a good offer. i was going to try plan something for the summer but i couldnt afford the flights.

Well i checked Easy jet there and for 3 adults and 1 child(one of the "adults" is 15) from aug 5-13 is coming in at 329 euros...it was just over 500 on aer lingus...
just looking the the disney website, there's a huge difference in sterling and euros prices!!We'll defo be going with sterling prices if we book thru there...

Anyone have any preferences on hotels??We've a 4 yr old and 15 yr old going..

Most of the on site hotels have 2 double beds apart from Cheyenne which has 1 double and bunk beds. If your children dont want to share a bed this may be the best one.

Alternatively Explorers which is just off site (and not a Disney hotel so no EMH) has 1 double and 2 singles

We are travelling from Cork and have done it by taking Brittany ferries and driving. It was long, arduous and slightly nerve wracking.

We have also flown direct toCDG twice which I have to say was a lot more tsraightforward as we hopped on the VEA and were at our hotel in no time.

This time (two weeks time!) we are taking fastcraft to britain from Rosslare, parking car, taking train to London and Eurostar to the park! I'll let you know how that one works out!!

I would say that if you can get a cheap flight direct to CDG, then do that. I wish my fear of flying did not make this so hard for me. Another option would be to get cheap flight to London and take Eurostar, but prices at this stage may be prohibitive.

The Cheyenne is a great choice for your kids. We stayed there twice and it was clool. It's basic and not many frills, but the theming is very good and it can be very cost effective.:thumbsup2

scald,
I was thinking it might be a long trip with the 2 ferries and all specially with the 4 year old....im looking more at flights now..but i dunno how he'd take to a flight either lol it's always something!!hehe....im still looking at everything so we'll see what happens..do let me know how you get on tho :) 2 weeks!!so exciting...:banana:

another vote here for the cheyenne

great hotel

:cool1:

I think ive pretty much settled for the cheyanne alrite..course if i could it would be the gorgeous disneyland hotel!! lol one day maybe hehe..just gonna sort out best price if i can and probably flying too....

end of July early august is when we're thinking...

One more thing, is it worth getting the half board option??

Buying the halfboard option is great value in sterling at the moment. But only do it if you think your wee one will sit through a full 3 course meal. Two years back we booked table service every night, but we found the small lad had no patience...he wanted to eat and go!! Sometimes its better to just go counter service or buffet where you can get going again. Theres so much going on the kids can't bear to waste nearly over an hour on food!!

I would recommend Cafe Mickey for a character meal regardless. The prices are quite reasonable (I think we are used to high prices in this country!) and the character interaction is brilliant for the kids!

Good luck with your planning, and remember that the kids in Uk get holidays last week of July so the parks will be busy:thumbsup2

we went on June 1st from Dublin to CDG. And took the VEA. We booked through Abbey travel, and stayed in the explorers. We previously stayed in sequoia 4 yrs ago and the explorers is a much nicer hotel, better food, better priced. Only down side is I liked last time how you could walk to the parks.

I agree with scald I found everywhere reasonable to eat, but then we are used to high prices here! We did a dinner at cafe mickey and then a breakfast. It was fantastic, I loved it.
2 weeks, have a great time..

I was thinking about the half board thing, and realised it's not a good idea..lil guy doesnt eat very much(i hope its a phase) lol ...so no point in getting him something like that...

Know anything about the babysitting service?

Never tried the babysitting...was too knackered to bother going out in teh evening.

Did forget to say though, your two year old will eat for free in the buffet restaurants;)

Ah thanks scald..he's 4 tho :) but lives on potatoes!!! lol ..child is gonna turn into one...

Ooops! Sorry, thought you said he was two. Under threes eat for free at buffets... well, he's a true Irishman if he loves his spuds! Most of the food in the park is counter service junk food, it's a bit difficult to find a middle ground between the fast food and more elaborate table service menus (some of which feature dishes more popular on the continent). We found it difficult to find a decent "normal" feed for the kids so to speak. They didn't want nuggets for every meal, but things like asparagus and salads turned them off also. I found Cafe Mickey (pasta with sauce) and Cheyenne Chuck wagon (buffet of barbeque food) the most suitable really. Kids had food they were accustomed to and good value for money.

I swear, when you leave, you will not want to see another chicken nugget or chip for a long, long time:rotfl:

Thanks again scald :) he doesnt eat pasta..or anyting other then mincemeat!! drives me mad..no sausages, chicken nuggets or anything like that..lol very difficult sometimes..but supose as long as mcdonalds is there he wont starve anyway:rotfl2:
