We are taking our first trip home in October in a 1br at SSR. So very excited, it is a beautiful resort.:love: We will have a car & will be me, DH, DS13 & DS10. Right now I do not have any requests in & I think since it is so large, I should make one so I'm in a decent area. I would love to be near one of the good pools for the kids or near community hall. Just easy access to the "action" is all I really need. If I could have that & a view of DTD-bonus! Any suggestions?

Congress Park has the DTD view and a quiet pool...very quiet. It has a spa but nothing for the kids, really. Good for teens.
I think you can also get a DTD view at the Grandstand, and that has a better pool for the kids with some features. It is the first bus stop but may seem isolated and far from the main areas.
The community hall, spa, and food court are at the Springs, which has the "main" pool. However, chairs go fast there.
Paddock has a brand new pool with kid features and has food (and a drink refill station, I think).
Carousel....I haven't heard a lot about it.
We stayed at Congress Park in 2009 and had a DD view on the top floor. It was beautiful. My girls were 17 and 14 and liked that pool. My son was 11 and preferred the springs pool . For our trip booked in 2012 I requested Congress Park DD view, or Paddock.

I think every area of SSR is great and has a nice pool. The new paddock pool is awesome looking. Our last stay was in Congress Park and it was by far our favorite location. The Downtown Disney view was AMAZING! We also like the pool there. We have also stayed in The Grandstand and that pool is awesome too!!! You just can't go wrong with any part of SSR!

My favorite sections at "home" in SSR are: 1st - Congress Park. Nice quiet pool, close enough to walk to the Artist's Pallate, and a great view of Downtown Disney. Second- The Paddock. Great pool, close to the action.
Finally- The Springs. Good views, closest to the main building and High Rock Springs pool. If you ever have the chance also check out the Treehouse Villas. We stayed there our last trip and LOVED them :lovestruc.

We can't wait until Easter to go back home!! :cool1:

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm also trying to figure out what to request. First trip to SSR. DH's elderly parents will be with us. We'll be driving to most parks. Any idea what we should request?

My votes: 1) Springs - good pool, close to everything, 2) Congress Park - access to DTD (but pool may be under construction), 3) Paddock - just cuz I want to try the new pool there.

SS is our home resort and we have never stayed but lots of friends have. I have never heard a complaint. They all love it. You will have a blast.

Without a car, I would recommend Grandstand. Most rooms have partial or full golf course views, and its the first bus stop.

With a car, I'd lean Congress Park (occasionally standing room only bus, but you don't need a bus) and nice DTD views.
