1st Trip Home - need advice...what should we do?

We just became DVC members in December (AKV ) and have booked a trip to SSR (5 nights in a 1BDR) with developer points for May. We're so excited and really want to check out AKV Kidani as well. So, I booked a 1 BDR Sav. View for 2 nights after our SSR stay. This will cost us 52 points which I WAS fine with until the announcement on 2010 weekday point increases. We are planning a 1 week trip back to AKV the week of Vetrans day in 2010. There's only a 1 pt. increase from 2009, but I'm thinking I should bank all my 2008 points and use carefully to make up for the weekday increases for future trips. Other than 2010, I don't see us going 1 week at a time as we only have a 160 pt contract and need a 1BDR (family of 5). We originally planned to travel Sun - Thurs and then do a full week every other year. Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated.

I think you are thinking logically. We have 200 pts and since 98 we've almost exclusively gone Su - Th. I think people in our boat have to actually project their 2010 needs and do the math to determine what is best for each.

Boy... wouldn't it be nice if DVC would lighten up on the transfer allowance from one per year. Not going to happen though... it would only help the members avoid the need for more points.

Still, I think we'll see an increase in small point transfer activity and maybe even the price per point will increase because of it.

Just some thoughts.
