1st Trip as Mommy & Daddy Nov 2011 TR- Complete!

DAY 2 Continued: Saturday November 5th

Once we discovered DS enjoyed meeting the characters, we decided now would be as good of a time as any to head over to Camp Minnie-Mickey and meet some more characters. But first, we wanted to grab some FPs for Expedition Everest!

0167.jpg

0168.jpg

FPs in hand, we walked from Asia to Camp Minnie-Mickey. I was hoping the characters would already be in their Christmas sweaters for the holidays since Christmas was popping up all around the parks, but no such luck.

0171.jpg

0172.jpg

I was excited (and surprised!) to see Meeko out with Pocahontas doing greets!! When I was younger and Pocahontas came out, I just thought Meeko was the cutest thing ever! But we didn't get in her line, we continued on to the huts. It looked like a FotLK show had just started so it was really perfect timing! There weren't any long waits for any of the characters.

We picked our first line and got in. I tried to get a picture of DS smiling with his buttons, but he didn't want to cooperate!

0174.jpg

Finally, it was our turn. Who did we want to meet first?

0177.jpg

Mickey Mouse, of course!

Here's a cute short little video of Paxton going to meet Mickey...it was pretty funny!

We said goodbye to Mickey Mouse and moved on to the next hut to meet the beautiful Minnie Mouse. DS really enjoyed her! She was playing peek-a-boo with him and he was giggling up a storm. In this picture, you can kind of see his one dimple on his cheek to see how big he's smiling.

0181.jpg

Finally I got DS to turn around so I could see his face for a picture.

0185.jpg

0188.jpg

After Minnie, we skipped Goofy's hut since we had just seen him in Dinoland and went over to Donald's hut instead.

0189.jpg

0190.jpg

DS's new thing at the time was putting up his index finger all the time! He would randomly do it while sitting on the floor playing, or just walk around the house holding up his index finger. We joked that he either suddenly knew he was 1 years old, or knew he was #1. We tried to get him to do it for Donald, since that is his signature move, but of course when we wanted him to do it, he wouldn't!

0192.jpg

But Donald still loved him once I told him he was both Daddy & Baby's favorite character!

Once we had met the last of the Fab 5, we thought about heading out to get lunch, but saw Chip & Dale had a short line, so we decided to finish up in CMM by meeting them. SO glad we did this! It was one of our best character interactions of the whole trip!

0196.jpg

0197.jpg

After these couple of pictures, the Character handler took our camera and had us get in the picture. Dale gestured that he wanted me to give Paxton to him, so we stood him up in front of Dale.

0201.jpg

After snapping the pic, the Photopass photographer gestured for DH and I to jump out of the picture so he could get some of just DS with Chip & Dale. Then they started tickling him! DS could NOT stop giggling, and it resulted in some of my very favorite pictures of the whole vacation.

0203.jpg

0204.jpg

0205.jpg

A lady standing behind us as we were snapping pictures like crazy commented to her school-age daughter, "You NEVER would have been that good with the characters at that age!" Haha! We couldn't believe how much he loved the characters, and how much they loved him back! We had to almost extract Paxton from Dale's arms because they didn't want to give him back! lol Eventually, the chipmunks let him go and we moved on from Camp Minnie-Mickey. I think this was one of only 2 times we put DS in his carrier that we packed with us in the bag every single day.

0207.jpg

Once we finished up in CMM it was about 11:30 so we decided to go grab some lunch at Pizzafari. DH got the pepperoni pizza and I got the cheese pizza and we shared a big Coke and got a cup of ice water to take with us. We kept DS occupied while we ate with a few puffs and he was very well behaved! Luckily we got there before the lunch rush started. I have never seen that restaurant so empty! But as we were leaving, we saw a ton of people getting into line to order, so I guess we picked a good time.

As we left, we had to consult our map to find the Baby Care Center. I was so amazed when we got inside! For anyone unsure what to expect, the AK BCC had the first room you walked into with a cash register and some shelves of baby supplies you could buy if you needed. To the left was a huge room with a TV playing a movie (I think Sleeping Beauty that day?), a small table & chairs, some books, and a cushioned bench running the length of the walls. DS loved that because at home he likes to run around the perimeter of the couch holding on to the cushions, so this gave him plenty of room to do just that! If you go through the main room, you get to the room in the back which had about 8 changing tables, 3 or 4 high chairs, a microwave, and probably 2 or 3 private rooms off to the side for nursing moms. I kind of peeked into one of the unoccupied rooms to check it out and saw it had a rocking chair and its own little changing station.

So while I warmed up DS's milk, DH started feeding him his jar food in the high chair. At home, we usually lay him in his Boppy pillow to drink, so trying to get him to do it in the high chair once he finished eating wasn't really working. So we took him into the playroom and let him lay in DH's lap on the bench instead, and he cooperated at that point. Then we let him run around a little bit, since he was still a fairly new walker on our trip and hadn't had much of an opportunity to walk in the park yet. AK definitely had the best play room of all of the BCCs we visited on the trip!

Once we felt he had expended enough energy, we strapped him back in the stroller and took a leisurely walk over to Asia so DH and I could use our Everest FPs. We walked around the base of the Tree of Life, and found some really pretty angles and spots I had never noticed before.

DAY 2 Continued: Saturday November 5th

0220.jpg

We looked for some animals on the Tree of Life and found a few good ones. DH was excited to find the shark!

0222.jpg

0223.jpg

0224.jpg

As we were walking over the bridge to Asia, DS conked out. He had been up a lot longer than he normally is at home before he takes a nap, and had been such a little trooper! No crying fits or meltdowns so far. Luckily, we were ready to use our FPs for Everest, so it was perfect timing for him to catch a snooze.

0226.jpg

0230.jpg

I rode first and didn't have a wait at all. I actually got seated in the very front row for the first time, which was really amazing. When I came off, DH and the still sleeping DS were waiting for me in the gift shop. It was loud and crowded in there, so I'm not sure how DS stayed asleep but he did so he must have been VERY tired!

While DH went to ride, I took DS outside to wait where you can see the train cars coming down the big drop hoping to see DH but I missed him.

0233.jpg

DH kept the camera out on the ride and took this picture from the top.

0231.jpg

He also caught a little video of the Yeti.

After we had each gotten our thrills on Everest, we decided we were about ready to head out of the park. We stopped into Island Mercantile to make some purchases and DS woke up while we were in the store. We were able to use our Premier AP's for the first time to get the 20% merchandise discount, which was exciting! Of course, I snapped some pictures of the stuff we bought.

0234.jpg

A cute animal print Mickey head dress for me

0237.jpg

40th Anniversary t-shirt for DH

0235.jpg

We saw this t-shirt for DS and thought it was cute, but we weren't going to get it, until I spun it around to check out the back!

0236.jpg

So cute! We had to have it

0240.jpg

An It's A Boy Vinylmation DH had been wanting to get for DS's room

DH made his first Vinylmation blind box purchase of the trip. It was a double box, so it had the blind box Vinyl plus the Mickey Conductor Vinyl on top

0238.jpg

I don't remember which one he said he hoped it was, but it turned out to be even better that he got the one of Donald from Philharmagic

]
At this point, I'll admit I turned into a bit of a sourpuss. I mentioned in the PTR that my FIL and his gf (D & G) were going to be in Orlando the week before us, and our trips would overlap on our first weekend there, so they wanted to come and see DS get his first haircut. I was fine with that, but made it clear to DH that I didn't want to be stuck spending a lot of time with them in the parks because this trip was supposed to be for the 3 of us. Also, D & G, despite being together since DH was a kid, just don't seem to like each other very much. They argue and speak ugly to each other CONSTANTLY, and it really just drives me crazy to be around them for a long time. I didn't want that following us around on our vacation! So all day, D had been calling DH to find out where we were, but they also get a VERY late start to their days, so they were just getting into the park as we were ready to leave and they found us in the store. It wasn't too bad at that time because we were leaving the park anyway, but G said to make sure we called them if we decided to go to a park that evening. Well then I just got annoyed because I could see this was going to be a pattern. We had not originally planned to go to a park that evening, but now I was upset that if we did, we'd almost be forced to tell them because then I would feel bad if we went and DIDN'T tell them!

We went back to the room, and I know DH had to be getting annoyed with me, because the whole way back I lectured him on the situation with D & G, making it clear that they could come for the haircut but I didn't want to be forced to spend the whole day with them on Sunday because it was our first day in MK and I didn't want their bickering to ruin my mood. We got back to Bonnet Creek and let DS play for awhile, then got him back down for another nap.

We had to be up and moving by 5:15 to get to 6 pm mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary Queen of the Universe. Big name for a BIG church!

shrinefacadeindex.jpg

DS was an absolute beast in church. We had fed him his food before we left, but brought his milk with us hoping that would keep him quiet, but no such luck. He cut up and yelled the ENTIRE time! Right at the end of Mass, he puked right into my lap. UGH! So I ran to the bathroom to clean up and wash out his cup, and found that not only do they have the sound piped into the bathrooms, there is also a little alcove area with a gigantic couch and plenty of space for him to play on the floor!! Man, had I known that, him and I would have just spent the hour in Mass in the bathroom! :rotfl:

We debated going to a park for dinner, and thought maybe the MK at first. But then it took absolutely FOREVER to get out of church and back on the highway because of all the other cars leaving Mass that we said MK would take way too long once we parked, took the monorail, etc. So we thought maybe DHS, but by the time we got past the resort to the light where we turn for DHS, I was over the idea and ready to get home. It was already almost 8 pm by then, and it just seemed like too much hassle, so back to the resort we went.

Once we were back in the room, DH ordered us a pizza from Pizza Hut while I got Paxton bathed and ready for bed. He was knocked out by the time DH came back up from the lobby from getting the pizza, so we had to eat in our bedroom on the floor with the door closed so we wouldn't wake him up. We caught some of the LSU game, then got to bed. We had another early day coming up.

UP NEXT: A chilly ride to the Magic Kingdom

Hey there. Finally joining in and enjoying your TR so far. I was thinking when you were talking about how much Paxton loved the characters and how much they love him...they probably are more used to really little ones crying and screaming, and to have one that's laughing and giggling is such a treat to them.

I really get annoyed that our daughter doesn't want to interact with characters. The characters are so much more involved when there's a kid around. We only did a few characters this last trip (outside the buffets) and only when they were ones we hadn't seen before. DD usually stood off to the side somewhere.

awwwww!! Loved the little video with Mickey! It's so sweet to see how he loved the characters. My little guy was full of tears and wanted to hide instead. :sad1: I love all of Paxton's big smiles with them. Adorable!

That Donald Vinylmation is great. Reading TRs is tempting me to get into trading those little things. Some of them look so cute!

Stinks about the stress your FIL and his gf were causing your trip. That's definitely not something I'd want to deal with on a WDW trip either! :sad2:

Paxton is absolutely adorable and I'm loving watching him with all the characters - he is doing better than most kids I see... Can't wait for more.

I know what you mean, the characters all seemed to excited to see a baby who was excited to see them, instead of one crying & freaking out, or even just being standoffish with them. He was ALL into the characters, for sure! There were even times he was actually squirming in my arms in line for one so he could get down & run to them!

I'm hoping since we will be going to DL in a few more months, and WDW again 6 months after that, he will stay used to them enough to not ever be scared. But I know as I kid I was scared of a lot of things when I was school aged that I hadn't been scared of before, similar to your DD. I can understand your frustration. It's hard to see your kid not wanting anything to do with something that can be SO fun in a Disney trip!

Aww, sorry you had a crier! I worried myself like crazy over it before we left because he had never experienced anything like it before and I was afraid he'd flip out when he saw how big they are compared to him! I was so relieved that he had such a good time with them. We would have had a great & fun trip regardless, but we just had so many more special memories made with the characters that made the trip extra special.

Careful with those Vinyls, they can be addictive!! :scared1: I started out thinking they were ugly, ridiculous and pointless. When DH expressing an interest in them meant I got an unexpected Disney trip, I tolerated them. I got more interested in them the more we traded them while we were in Disney World. And now I have my OWN collection of probably about 10 or 15. :lmao: It is kind of exciting to buy a blind box and not have any idea what's inside though, I've gotta admit that!

Paxton is absolutely adorable and I'm loving watching him with all the characters - he is doing better than most kids I see... Can't wait for more.

Thank you!! There are LOTS more character interactions to come in this TR!! :) I have a long weekend coming up, so hopefully I can get in another installment or two before I go back to work next week. :goodvibes

Sounds like DS loved the character meet & greets! Those photos with Chip and Dale are wonderful, I'm so impressed he wasn't scared or nervous :cutie:

I really like that Vinylmation of Donald in Philharmagic :goodvibes

:goodvibes He is such a good kid in general, but I was pretty impressed with how he handled Disney World too! Guess that means it really is in the DNA...he was born to love it like we do. :lovestruc

Since DH loves all things Donald, he was pretty excited to get the Philharmagic Vinyl. I love it just because I love that show!

What a fun TR! Paxton is just so incredibly adorable  Loved the interaction with Chip & Dale - what memories you will have of his first visit!

The photos and videos of Paxton with the characters are so heartwarming! He is such a little charmer! I'm so glad that he did so well, and you were able to enjoy such a precious moment.

Sorry about the family drama! I hope that it all turned out OK and that you weren't stuck with D&G for the whole MK day.

Thanks! The family drama unfortunately continues, but it really wasn't that bad. I probably made it worse than I needed to.

Aww, thanks so much! We definitely made some amazing memories that I can't wait to share!

I finally got our PhotoPass CD's in the mail! With edits, we had 2 CD's...If you remember from our last big trip, I think after all the edits I ended up with 8 CD's! DH said he was disappointed in me this year. lol But this year, I found some of the borders to be lacking, especially since they got rid of all the park specific borders aside from AK. Those were my favorites from the last time we got the CD.

Also, I was surprised at how many great candid shots they got of DS with the characters. It was a very nice surprise, since DH and I were spending the time interacting with the characters with him instead of trying to capture everything on the camera ourselves.

Anyway, since I'm only up through our first day, this will all be AK PhotoPass photos. The two we had taken in front of Haunted Mansion on our arrival afternoon were missing from our account, and despite sending in the lost photo retrieval form, we never heard anything and never got the photos so I decided to just go ahead and order our CD instead of waiting longer.

Here's the picture we took as we were approaching the park and getting ready to go through the turnstiles.

Photo0169FourBySix.jpg

I think that was pretty much the first and only day we took pictures of the three of us without taking DS out of the stroller. He did so much better out of the stroller when he could see the camera and would actually smile rather than just looking around like, "Why are we stopping?"

I'm glad we got our CD's so quickly. Now I can put the pictures in with my pictures for the rest of the TR!

Hey ... I thought I was the ONLY diser in Lafayette!!! :goodvibes
Love how much Paxton loves the characters, can't wait to hear more! We are headed that way in 13 days!!!! Wahoo!!!!!

DAY 3: Sunday November 6th

It was another super early morning for us! I set my alarm for 6:50 am but woke up about 10 minutes before my alarm was set to go off and figured I may as well start getting up and getting ready. We wanted to be out the door and in the car even earlier than we had the day before since we were headed to the Magic Kingdom that morning! DS was very cooperative and we were at the TTC by 8 am. It was much closer to just park in the first couple rows of the regular parking instead of in the Diamond Parking, so we did that.

As we walked up to the monorail stations, we saw only the resort monorail was open, and didn't feel like we would make it there as quickly making so many stops. So even though it was a little chilly that morning, we decided to take the ferry instead and headed down to the dock. There were only 2 other families waiting, and we were able to board immediately. As we walked down to the boat, I was in such a happy mood to be heading to MK that I waved up to the boat captain, and he waved back. Just as DH was teasing me for doing that, the boat captain came over the loudspeaker to tell us Happy Anniversary! It was a great way to start the journey to MK!

We headed to the other end of the ferry with one other family so that we could see everything right in front of us as we moved towards the park. DS seemed to enjoy the view, even though it was now not only chilly but WINDY!

0268.jpg

By 8:30 am, we were through bag check and the turnstiles, and we were waiting in front of the train station, ready for the opening show!

0271.jpg

0273.jpg

0275.jpg

Excited for a day in Magic Kingdom!

Keeping DS entertained while waiting for the rope drop show was a bit of a challenge. There were way too many people around to let him down to walk around, and he was getting aggravated being held for so long. At least two foreign couples stopped to tell us in the little bit of English they seemed to speak that they thought DS was cute! One was this little Asian couple, and the woman couldn't stop smiling and waving at DS. So when I did put him down on the ground, she was very excited when he went right up to her for a hug!

0277.jpg

We actually ended up seeing that same couple the next morning going into DHS, and the girl got all excited to see her little friend again!

Of course, that only occupied him so long, and then it was time to play his favorite game, Steal Daddy's Hat!

0281.jpg

0284.jpg

Not a moment too soon, the Mayor came out to welcome us to the Magic Kingdom!

We weren't able to snap any pictures of the confetti & streamers at the end of the show because we had to put Paxton back in the stroller and get positioned to get into the park. I bet you can't guess where we were headed first?! :rotfl:

Sorry, though, I intended to do another post of our first few rides, but a certain little munchkin just woke up from a nap that was much shorter than it was supposed to be!

Hey ... I thought I was the ONLY diser in Lafayette!!! :goodvibes
Love how much Paxton loves the characters, can't wait to hear more! We are headed that way in 13 days!!!! Wahoo!!!!!

:lmao: Happy to see another Lafayette DISer!! We are not the only 2...one of them works at the same hospital as me! I had never met her before, but she read my first TR and saw me in the cafeteria one day, and stopped to tell me how much she had enjoyed it! :rotfl: Now we are "Disney friends" around the hospital.

Have so much fun on your trip!! Driving or flying?

I went to college in Lafayette (ULL)but we live in Lake Charles now. :thumbsup2

There are probably more of us than we realize! Nice to meet you!

DAY 3 Continued: Sunday November 6th

When I had last left off, the MK rope had just dropped, and we were ready for our first morning in our favorite park! I was not interested in running, so instead we made our way towards Fantasyland by way of the Castle at slower pace than the rest of the crowds, looking up and taking in how beautiful Main Street looked in its Christmas finest. I feel like I have gotten spoiled seeing WDW dressed up for Christmas twice now. I almost don't want to see it any other way! But I will be seeing it decked out for Halloween in a little less than a year! I digress...

So we took the route through the Castle, a favorite of DH's and mine, and trekked over to our first ride of the morning, Dumbo!

0302.jpg

This is like a right of passage for every little kid going to WDW, so of course it was first on our list! The line was not long at all by the time we parked the stroller and extricated DS to join it. We ended up on the 3rd ride of the morning. Not too bad for taking our time to get over there!

Since it was his first ride on it, DH and I couldn't decide between the two of us who would ride with DS and who would take pictures, so we all 3 squeezed into one elephant instead. Although you can't really tell from the pictures, I assure you, we are in fact on Dumbo in this pic!

0303.jpg

DH took a couple of pics from up while I manned the controls.

0306.jpg

0307.jpg

I can't wait to see this when it's all finished!!

When we got off, we thought about jumping back on for another ride, but the line had already grown substantially, so we decided to move on to another ride that grows long lines throughout the day, Peter Pan's Flight.

IMG_2719.jpg

DS really seemed to enjoy this one! At first he was just kind of sitting there until he realized he could see things going on over the sides of the ship. So he leaned over me and DH alternately to see what was happening with Peter Pan & Wendy, with me holding on with a death grip!

Our next stop was the Hundred Acre Wood to visit with Pooh & friends. The interactive queue wasn't open, so I wasn't sure what this did, but it looked cool.

0317.jpg

DS just enjoyed touching EVERY. SINGLE. FENCE POST. all the way through the queue. lol

0319.jpg

We got onto our honeypot after waiting maybe 6 or 7 minutes. Not bad!

0323.jpg

0324.jpg

Watching very intently.

0325.jpg

0326.jpg

Next we went over to It's a Small World, which was hands down DS's favorite attraction of the whole trip (besides meeting characters!).

0328.jpg

0329.jpg

0331.jpg

0332.jpg

0336.jpg

Looking around

For the first little bit, he just looked ALL OVER taking it all in! His little head was whipping from side to side and up and down trying to see everything he could! Then he caught onto the music and started dancing. We tried getting videos of him dancing on the ride, but they came out pretty dark.

We had just about enough time to get in 1 more attraction before we had to head up to the front of Main Street for his haircut. DH and I checked out the map and decided on Jungle Cruise. We took the pathway down the side of the Castle towards Adventureland and spotted a Photopass photographer down by the gazebo where Tiana usually does her meet & greets. They had some Christmas trees all decked out in purple, green & gold, so of course we had to stop for a picture!

Photo0179FourBySix.jpg

The photographer saw all of our Saints gear (it was gameday!), and said she had actually used to live in Louisiana, so we chatted with her a bit before moving on.

The wait for Jungle Cruise said 10 minutes, but we waited less than that, maybe five if even that long. We got seated in the middle of the boat, and as soon as the skipper saw us, she yelled out, "Oh great you brought the bait- I mean, baby! And a Saints baby, those are the best kind!" lol

If you expected a lot of JC pictures, sorry to disappoint. We have always taken SO many on this ride, and it's not like anything changes. So we put the cameras away and enjoyed the ride. Actually, DH did take this one pic of me and DS before we set out on our cruise.

0341.jpg

DAY 3 Continued: Sunday November 6th

After finishing up on Jungle Cruise, we headed up Main Street to the Harmony Barber Shop to check in for DS's first haircut.

0342.jpg

Our appointment was for 11 am and I think we got called in just before that time. Somehow, D&G actually made it in time, since they usually can't get themselves ready and to the parks before noon! :rotfl:

0344.jpg

They got him up in the chair and proceeded to cover him in stickers, which did keep him busy for a little while, but only because he wanted to take them off and eat them. That was the one thing that drove me crazy the whole trip. CM's always wanted to give him stickers which was so sweet of them, but then I'd have to be the meanie taking them away because he was gnawing on them.

Just look how excited he is about that sticker!

I do have a video that for some reason I didn't upload when I was doing the rest of the videos, so hopefully it will finish by the time I finish typing up this post. If not, I'll have to post it separately when it finishes uploading.

Luckily he took a liking to his hairdresser too, which was a relief.

Let the cutting begin!

You can see in that picture I had a Ziploc bag in my hand. I had absolutely no clue what they do with the hair and I of course wanted the first snip for his baby book. Well, just to let anyone know who is planning to do this, they save the first lock for you, so you don't need to bring anything! She put it down on a paper towel, wrapped it up tight, and sealed it with a Mickey sticker. In the video, I kind of awkwardly try to hold out the bag but she didn't see it.

He actually did VERY well with the haircut! There were a couple of times she would pull his hair up between her fingers to cut, and he would jerk his head forward before she could snip, but overall he let her do what she needed to do.

Once she gave him the comb to play with, well that was all this kid needs to make him a happy boy!

I think I was dancing & looking foolish because the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It parade was passing the barber shop outside and I was trying to get Paxton to look out the window to see it. That darn comb was just too exciting in and of itself though.

Trying on his ears!

Post-haircut!

Closeup of the ears.

As we left the Barber Shop, we stopped to have our pictures taken at the end of Main Street. We got ribbed on by one of the character handlers in the vicinity for being Saints fan and said he couldn't believe we were let into the park. Then he leaned over to me with a wink to show me his nametag that said he was from NY and said, "You know why I have to mess with ya!" I came back with, "Well I guess if they let you in, they have to let us in too, right?" That gave him a laugh!

After taking our picture, we stopped in the Emporium so D&G could use our AP discount to buy a jacket for Paxton that they had found and liked. It was getting close to 12 by that time, so we decided to head out for lunch. D&G weren't ready to eat, so we parted ways, what I had hoped was for good, but not so much. DH, DS, and I went over to eat at one of our favorites, Cosmic Ray's. DH and I got some burgers and went down to eat near Sonny Eclipse thinking that would keep DS entertained, but he could have cared less.

Once our bellies were full, we headed over to the baby care center to feed & change DS. The MK bcc was huge! They had a full kitchen, a room with huge padded changing tables, and another big room with a tv, highchairs, a little table & chairs for bigger kids, and some books. Once DS had his milk, ate his food, and a clean diaper, we left the bcc. DH takes out his phone, and I ask what he's doing but he kind of waves me off. Then I hear him say, "What are y'all doing? We're going to Adventureland...Okay, see you in a minute." I almost flipped. I kind of went off a little that he was calling his dad to meet up again when I had told him haircut and that's it. But I had to suck it up at that point because what else could I do?

DS was finishing up the last of his sippy cup as we parked the stroller, so I took the cup to go rinse out in the bathroom while DH took him to go watch the Pirate Tutorial.

We met up with D&G and decided to go ride Pirates. As we were walking up to the line, we saw Pirate Goofy out! We asked DS if he wanted to go see him, and got this look...

0383.jpg

We interpreted that as "Yes!" He was actually squirming & fighting in line so I would put him down and he could go up to Goofy. lol

Finally, it was our turn.

After we convinced Goofy to let Paxton come with us, we all rode Pirates together. He seemed fascinated with this one. Not a lot of smiling, but just looking all around taking it all in. We were in the very front row, which helped. Nothing in his way!

As soon as we walked out of the ride and got him back in the stroller, he passed out.

We went over to Frontierland to check out the wait times on BTMRR so DH and I could maybe ride while he napped, but the line was pretty long. The line for Splash Mountain was short though, so I told DH I wanted to ride and he was cool with walking around with D&G with DS in the stroller while I rode.

I got up to the loading platform and the guy told the two little girls in front of me to go to row 5. One told the CM they wanted the front row, so he sent them to row 1 and put me in row 5 by myself. What's row 5? The front row of the second log! I didn't think much of it because from outside, it didn't look like they had the water cannons going very strong. Little did I know, the water cannons would be the least of my worries.

The first little fake drop, the water sloshed up over the front of the log and landed right in my lap. OK, no big deal, so I'd look like I peed on myself. I could handle that. Second little drop, water sloshes over the front of the log and hits me in the chest. OK, now my whole front is wet, but I'll live. I should have seen it coming. We go down the big drop and it's all good until we hit the bottom where it levels out and a HUGE GUSH of water sloshes over the front of the log and completely drenches me head to toe!! Water actually went IN MY EAR!! Want to see what happens when you sit in the front row on Splash Mountain?

0390.jpg

I was soaked from top to bottom, all the way through to my undies. It wasn't comfortable. DH took one look at me and said, "You want to go back to the room now, don't you?" Uh, YES PLEASE! Despite being uncomfortable, I was actually relieved this would separate us from D&G for the remainder of our vacation! Even after only a couple of hours, I just couldn't take the bickering!!

As we walked to the front, I did make a pitiful plea for a Mickey bar to cheer me up from my soaked-to-the-bone-earful-of-waterness.

0392.jpg

It was good timing actually, because it was starting to drizzle as we left the park.

0394.jpg

DH taking a picture of Main Street, but you can see how soaked I was on the back too.

0397.jpg

The rain really started picking up as we got out to the TTC. Didn't bother me, how much more wet could I really get?

We got back to the resort and DS woke up. So I immediately jumped into a hot shower, then we bathed DS so that we could stay out a little later that night if we wanted to and not have to worry about doing that when we got back. I was really freaking out about my waterlogged ear because I am prone to bad bouts of swimmer's ear and ear infections, and they are PAINFUL. I wasn't looking forward to dealing with that on vacation! So I started googling, and it wasn't looking too promising since most of the results I could find had to do with putting rubbing alcohol in my ear, and I didn't have any. Just as I was about to give up, I found something that sounded ridiculous, but I tried it anyway. And that's why DH walked into our bedroom to find me with my ear pointed to the ground jumping up and down. Hey, might have looked ridiculous, but it worked! Yay, no more water in the ear!!

We spent the next couple of hours in the room letting DS play and have some snacks while DH and I caught the second half of the Saints game.

It had been a long day already, but our adventures weren't over just yet!

UP NEXT: Epcot!

(Yeah, that video's going to take awhile...I'll have it up later today!)

Man - what a great day at MK! Little Paxton just looks like he's having the time of his life. I always thought going with a little one (< 2) would be too much work, but you guys make it look easy. You had less problems than we have with our 8 year old. He looks so excited to see Goofy.

And I've ridden in the front of Splash Mountain a bunch of times, and never gotten THAT wet. Of course I always duck at the bottom of the big hill so the water goes over me. Did you have a bunch of fatties in the back of the log weighing you down? (Oops - not PC - people of size perhaps? Eek I'm bad...hope no-one's offended.)

I don't know if it's how you write or the fact that you guys always look like your having a great time, but I just enjoy your TRs so much. This may sound weird coming from a near-stranger, but I feel like it would great fun to spend a day at the parks with you guys. I was just talking to my wife last night about how when we ride JC we are always laughing and groaning at the jokes, and everyone else on the boat seems so--- I don't know --- just not into it. You, DH seem to just enjoy it like we do! Keep up the good work...and I look forward to your DL Trip Report especially because you will be beating us out there by about 3 months, so you can teach us a thing or 2.

TTFN!
