1st Trip as Mommy & Daddy Nov 2011 TR- Complete!

Loved the Photopass pics! The one with you, hubby and DS with Mickey is priceless

I apologize but I had to laugh when I saw your pic after you rode Splash Mountain - I had the same experience on our last trip. My DS24 & I rode the front log and my other 2 sons were in the seat behind us. This was my youngest 2 sons first trip and they were just not excited about MK (only wanted to hit the big rides and leave). Needless to say, they got a huge laugh because I was the only one who got soaked front and back so we headed out of the park then too!

Isn't IASW fun with a little one? Disney really put a lot of thought into this ride from a little one's perspective :thumbsup2

Haha It's ok, I laugh about it now. I have NEVER gotten that wet on Splash Mountain!! I don't mind getting wet on it, because it's my absolute favorite ride, but being soaked to my skivvies just wasn't worth it. It actually ruined the ride for me for the rest of the trip, and even when I had an opportunity to ride again, I passed. :rotfl: Hopefully I will be over the trauma by the time we take our next trip!!

I have always enjoyed Small World (DH not as much), but it was so much better riding with DS. :goodvibes

Man - what a great day at MK! Little Paxton just looks like he's having the time of his life. I always thought going with a little one (< 2) would be too much work, but you guys make it look easy. You had less problems than we have with our 8 year old. He looks so excited to see Goofy.

And I've ridden in the front of Splash Mountain a bunch of times, and never gotten THAT wet. Of course I always duck at the bottom of the big hill so the water goes over me. Did you have a bunch of fatties in the back of the log weighing you down? (Oops - not PC - people of size perhaps? Eek I'm bad...hope no-one's offended.)

I don't know if it's how you write or the fact that you guys always look like your having a great time, but I just enjoy your TRs so much. This may sound weird coming from a near-stranger, but I feel like it would great fun to spend a day at the parks with you guys. I was just talking to my wife last night about how when we ride JC we are always laughing and groaning at the jokes, and everyone else on the boat seems so--- I don't know --- just not into it. You, DH seem to just enjoy it like we do! Keep up the good work...and I look forward to your DL Trip Report especially because you will be beating us out there by about 3 months, so you can teach us a thing or 2.

TTFN!
SkierPete

:thumbsup2 It was definitely SO much easier than I thought it would be. Not as easy as just 2 adults of course. ;) But I think the reason it's probably easier than with an older kid is because he has no opinion on what we do next !! :rotfl: No arguing about not wanting to do this or that. That won't be the case by the time we go next year, as I'm sure his new favorite word will be "no" by then, but maybe for Disneyland his vocabulary will still be mostly gibberish.

I have NO IDEA what happened on Splash! I have never gotten that wet before, but I also don't remember if I have ever been in the first row. I'll have to make sure next time I ride that I don't have a bunch of fatties in the back :lmao: I think I did duck that ride too...the water on the front was from the 2 small dips, and when I ducked, all I did was expose my back so all the water could come down on what was still dry!!!

Thanks so much for your kind words!! We definitely have our down moments on every trip, but this time we were just having SO much fun experiencing everything with DS for the first time that we really didn't have many meltdowns! I agree on JC for sure. It's almost uncomfortable because sometimes DH and I are the only ones laughing on the boat!!

Hopefully I can share some good tips from our DL trip that you can take with you on your trip!

Oh, I so hope Landon enjoys the characters as much as DS did! It honestly made the whole trip feel worthwhile, just in character greets. He had the best time!
We had some good interactions with characters... others, not so much.:confused3

DS just enjoyed touching EVERY. SINGLE. FENCE POST. all the way through the queue. lol
Really??? I can't think of why any toddler would ever feel the need to do that. :rolleyes1

[Little did I know, the water cannons would be the least of my worries.

The first little fake drop, the water sloshed up over the front of the log and landed right in my lap. OK, no big deal, so I'd look like I peed on myself. I could handle that. Second little drop, water sloshes over the front of the log and hits me in the chest. OK, now my whole front is wet, but I'll live. I should have seen it coming. We go down the big drop and it's all good until we hit the bottom where it levels out and a HUGE GUSH of water sloshes over the front of the log and completely drenches me head to toe!! Water actually went IN MY EAR!! Want to see what happens when you sit in the front row on Splash Mountain?
Can I just quote this description into my TR? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Great updates... I couldn't see your pictures through the firewall at work, so I'll have to check back later to see them. I completely agree with your statement about how people tend to overlook a whiny baby because they're a baby and still cute. They'd look at him and smile, even if he was whining and being fussy about something. :lmao:

Ok, I've gone back and looked at the pictures... Those are some great pictures of Paxton with the characters. Hard to tell whether he or they were having more fun.

Oh My goodness!! I missed the link here. I'm here now! Off to try to catch up:goodvibes

I'm on Day 2 part 4 but I had to stop and say OMG the pictures of Paxton with C&D are ADORABLE!!!!! I teared up looking at them. I can only hope that Alex will have the same reaction to the characters.

It was so strange, but it seemed like more of the characters that would *ahem* be males (ie. taller ones like Goofy & Tigger) enjoyed him the most! You would think the females would be more interested in a cute little toddler. Regardless, DS & the characters almost always had a blast together, so I hope he still likes them in a few more months when we head to Disneyland!

Glad you made it over here! :thumbsup2 The one picture of him with C&D is the background on my phone and now on our Christmas card for this year. I just love that moment from our trip so much! Whenever anyone gives me the, "He won't even remember that trip" comment (which I have gotten quite a few times actually), I just show them that pic and tell them, "He may not remember it later on, but you can't look at that and say he didn't have a good time!" Hopefully Alex will enjoy them as much as Paxton did!

DAY 3 Continued: Sunday November 6th

After some relaxation time in the room (and seeing our Saints win!), we left the resort to head to our second park of the day, Epcot! We got in the car around 4:30, which was later than we had planned on, and which meant we missed out on doing the Visa meet & greet we had wanted to do. We hoped to catch it at least once, and to get our free 5x7!

We were able to find a spot in the Diamond parking, and in no time, we were heading through the gates into Epcot.

Since there wasn't much of a line and we were right there, we hopped onto Spaceship Earth first, thinking it would be a nice dark ride we could relax on a little bit to transition ourselves into the park. Uh, not exactly. We had a squirmy toddler to contend with instead! He decided early on he was not very interested in the attraction. We were happy to let him choose the components of our "Build Your Future" at the end since he loves playing with the screen on our iPad, but he wasn't too interested and we had to help him choose.

Extreme close up!

By the time we finished, it was about time for DS to eat, so we started looking for the Baby Care Center, which was surprisingly hard to find, at least for us. If you are facing World Showcase from Future World, it's on the left hand path near the Odyssey Center, kind of off in a corner. Once we found it, it turned out to be our top BCC choice of the trip. Although AK had a better playroom, this one was just better overall. There was again, a full kitchen, but this one had 2 separate play rooms, one with a tv and actual toys instead of just books, and another with little tables and chairs and the highchairs, so DS could run around a bit. Plus there was a room down the hall with the big cushy changing tables.

Paxton took his milk and ate his dinner, then we let him play with the toys in the playroom with another little boy who was probably about 2. He really enjoyed that because he LOVES playing with other kids!

After we left there, it was time for DH and I to fill our own bellies, so we had an unexciting dinner of burgers at Electric Umbrella before moving on to more attractions!

First up was The Seas with Nemo & Friends!

Someone saw DH taking a picture of just me & DH and offered to take a picture of all 3 of us.

We got right onto the attraction and into our clam shell with no wait. DS actually enjoyed this one and kept pointing and smiling at all of the fish as we passed.

Instead of rushing right out like we normally do, we took some time to explore the aquariums, especially the manatees which DS loved!

Before leaving, I also wanted a picture inside Bruce's mouth, which I have seen in a lot of TR's but never in person! It wasn't hard to track down, but we did have to wait awhile for our turn because kids kept running up to jump inside the mouth. There was a Photopass photographer there, and we got some really cute PP shots!

Just a pretty night shot of SE we took as we were leaving :)

After finishing up at The Seas, we went over to the Imagination Pavillion, and luckily made it into Journey Into Imagination just before it was about to close for the night. We got on with no wait, and only one other family in the ride vehicle with us.

This one was another big hit with Paxton. He laughed and squealed through the whole thing!

We went over to the nearby fountains to snap some pictures, and saw a pretty funny sight. Over by the jumping fountains, a couple of kids were playing while there parents sat on the nearby benches with their infant. The little boy, probably about 7 or 8, was standing in between two of the jumping fountains waiting for the water to come out, and let it hit him right in the face. He yelled out, "That was awesome!" and waited for the water to hit him again! :rotfl:

0437.jpg

After snapping a few pictures, we took DS over to a secluded area of benches to change his diaper and change him into his pajamas. Since he had had his bath already, we were hoping he'd fall asleep in the car and we could just get him up to bed once we got back to the resort.

0443.jpg

All ready for bedtime!

We were about ready to leave, but we decided to stop into Mouse Gears first, and ended up buying quite a few of our souvenirs from the trip!

0447.jpg

A camera strap that DH had seen on ebay for a LOT more money!

0444.jpg

A shirt for me

T-shirt for DH

A journal for my little cousin Skylar's Christmas gift

The CM who checked us out was one of the best we encountered for the whole trip. He waved to Paxton until he smiled, then noticed our Anniversary pins and asked how many years we were celebrating. We told him 4, and he said, "I may not be here by then, but when you are celebrating 50 years make sure you come back to see me! And bring Paxton!" We told him by then, he will be the one pushing us around in wheelchairs instead of us pushing him in the stroller. He was really fantastic!

We walked out to the car, and as expected, DS passed out cold in the stroller. Not only did we manage to successfully transfer him to his carseat without waking him up, we also got him out of the car, into the resort, through the lobby, up the elevator, and into the room without him opening his eyes in the slightest! What a relief. He went right into his crib, and DH and I did the same. The next morning was another all-important rope drop morning!

UP NEXT: Toy Story Mania...with a toddler!

What a wonderful evening!

Nemo is one of Everett's favorites too! It must be all the colorful fish.

So glad to hear that Paxton enjoyed Imagination. I still have not managed to get Everett on it yet, but someday! I think that the end part with the play area would be a big hit!

Big props on getting Paxton to sleep and then transfering him TWICE! I think the most stressful part of vacation is bedtime, awesome that you had such an easy time of it!

HOw did I miss you!???

Great report so far. Paxton is just a doll. I swear he is smiling so cute in all of the pics, especially the character ones. I LOVE the one with Chip and Dale. What a great memory.

Aren't the baby stations great? I loved them!!!

So was his haircut just a blast? I want to take Will next November.

lol at your figuring out what to take for him the first day and what you forgot. I swear, when you have a little one that age, you feel like you are hauling around so much. It does get easier though and once he is eating 100% table food, it is so much less of a hassle! ;)

So how was the weather? We are booked for Nov 9-17th for next year! First time doing November.

Looking forward to the next installment. Oh and his Saints jersey is so darn cute!

Great updates!

It's really interesting to read about your trip with DS... seeing what rides he is enjoying!

That sounded like a lovely CM in Epcot, I really like it when they chat to you - one man at Winter Summerland noticed our 'Just Married' buttons on our last trip, and said we'd have to come back every year and play a game of minigolf there :wizard:

Btw was this day a game day? (I noticed you're all wearing your Saints shirts! :goodvibes)
We were able to watch the Saints game yesterday as it started at 6pm here! I'm still trying to learn the rules, DH is good at explaining things to me about the NFL hehe :cutie:

So true so true. You can definitely tell by your pictures that Paxton loved his first trip to WDW. Whether he remembers it or not it's GREAT memories for you and DH. I get the whole "he won't remember it" schpiel all the time too. It's so frustrating but they're not the ones going so I try to just brush it off.

Great update!! I love the pictures of y'all in Bruce's mouth! We've never gotten pics there either but we might have to do it in February. I can't wait to ride Nemo with Alex. I went to college in Lafayette (ULL)but we live in Lake Charles now. :thumbsup2

There are probably more of us than we realize! Nice to meet you!

We are driving... and I actually live in Lafayette, but am attending Grad School in Lake Charles ... small world!!:lmao:

Hi!! Hopped over here after I saw your awesomely helpful post on my PTR!! :goodvibes

Loving your TR - Paxton is adorable and it is sooo wonderful how great he has been with the characters! That's amazing!! Our first day starts with a morning at CP, so I guess we'll see right away how our little one does w/ characters LOL.

I'll be reading along, love hearing your thoughts on the BCC. Not sure if she'll still be nursing when we go (around 8 mo. old) but she'll def be eating solid foods I'm sure. Question (might seem stupid but this is a first for us): why did you go to the BCC to feed Paxton, then head to a restaurant/QS for you guys? Was it just easier to feed him in peace or was he too distracted in restaurants?

Mostly it was to warm his milk because he will only take it warmed right now. But he is also VERY nosy and wants to know everything that is going on around him, so it was also easier to feed him in there with less distractions in a quiet environment. To drink his milk, he has to be free from distractions totally or that cup is hitting the floor. :lmao: And then once we were in there, it was nice to have a full highchair to feed him in instead of the wooden ones in the restaurants that don't do much for baby. There were a couple of times we fed him at the same time we ate, but we found it was better for all three of us to get out of the chaos of the park for his mealtime. No question is stupid, especially not for a first time mom!!!

We were absolutely AMAZED that we were able to do all of that without waking up! I think we definitely tired him out during the day. :lmao: He actually did a lot better than we had expected during the whole trip. We did get some use out of the rental rocking chair, but we probably could have done without it if we had needed to. He usually gets a little bit of rocking time at home and then I stick him in his crib and he puts himself to sleep. I was worried that the change of environment would make it harder on him to put himself to sleep, so there were a couple nights the rocker really helped because we could rock him all the way to sleep before putting him down. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you're here!!

The baby stations were lifesavers! He is SO easily distracted when it comes to drinking his milk, if not for those BCCs he never would have finished a cup!

We are working on the table food thing, but he is still fairly frustrating when it comes to that (spitting things out halfway through a meal and crying hysterically!). I'm hoping by May when we go to DL, but definitely by next year's WDW trip, we shouldn't be needing to haul food around for him.

I was not overall impressed with November, which I planned to talk about in my wrap-up post, but the weather was one of my biggest annoyances. It was like Florida just couldn't decide if it wanted to be hot or cold! Chilly in the mornings, sweating by the afternoon. There was one day where it was really cold in the shade, but blazing hot in the sun, so my jacket was just on off on off alllllll day long! Drove me crazy. I know all of the fall months in FL can be like that, but I just wasn't overly impressed with November in general, so that was just another annoyance to add to the list! :rotfl: I sincerely hope you have a better November experience than we did! I think we just hit a perfect storm so to speak in terms of crowds.

Haha About the Saints jersey...he didn't wear it for the Saints season opener game, and they lost. The next week, we put it on him, and they won! My aunt (OBSESSED with the Saints, and the one who bought him the jersey) demanded that he had to wear the jersey for every single game for the rest of the season, no matter if he was sleeping, whatever! :rotfl: She called me up one Sunday to fuss at me because we had taken him to the zoo that day and he wasn't wearing a jersey, and was wearing the opposing team's colors (by accident of course!). That's the downfall of posting pics on Facebook, you always get caught. :rotfl2:

Cute about the WS CM! It's always nice when you can tell a CM loves their job and goes out of their way to talk to you and make sure you are having a great time on vacation! I hope we can get back their ourselves to play some more minigolf one day, maybe when Paxton is a little older. We had a lot of fun!

Yes, it was game day! We all packed our Saints gear to wear appropriately! Gotta do that on game day. :thumbsup2 It took me awhile to learn the rules of football, and there are still some penalties I just don't understand, but I get the basics and now it's much more enjoyable for me. But I still just don't like to watch a game if the Saints aren't playing!

Great update!! I love the pictures of y'all in Bruce's mouth! We've never gotten pics there either but we might have to do it in February. I can't wait to ride Nemo with Alex. Can't wait to hear how TSM was with a toddler!! DH is nervous about taking Alex on that since it spins so much.

We skipped Turtle Talk, along with a lot of other shows we thought we would do. Either they were too long for DS or just not enough singing and dancing going on to keep him interested.

As for TSM, we rode it a few times with him, and the spinning was only a problem once. Just don't count on racking up many points because DS kept grabbing the string from us! :lmao:

That makes sense. Glad I asked. I doubt Alex would sit still for that kind of thing either w/o fussing about it. I'm also expecting to have to skip the 3D shows too and that makes me sad since one of my favs is Filharmagic but oh well.

Haha about him taking the string away from y'all. I can totally see Alex doing that! Now when you say the spinning was a problem once, how was it a problem? We had an issue here recently where DH was spinning Alex around and Alex freaked out because it took him so long to get his equilibrium back so I'm kind of scared of that happening on the ride.
