Before I start my report I want to thank all of you on these boards for all your advice, do's & dont's, all the tips I received! I planned this trip for about 9 months and feel that it went flawless because of the help I got on here. We went Jan 19-26, stayed at Wilderness Lodge, loved it, had to request refrig, I thought that was standard, but it wasn't. They told us we got an upgrade, I had reserved standard and got moved, but don't know what it was called, but had great view looking down at pool. We were in room 4140. No animal towels first days, but I requested one day because it was DD birthday, had several when we returned that night. Also had balloons from resort and BD card from Donald Duck. We felt the transportation was great, we used the boat as much as possible. Since it's our first trip we have nothing to compare it to, but we were very happy.
We were on the dining plan and loved it, I was worried about where to eat, but it was never a problem. I do wish there had been counter service at WL, but we survived! We did several buffets, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey, Ft. Wilderness, we enjoyed them all. We ate twice at Whispering Canyon, ate the all you can eat at dinner, the food was great. I didn't think the shakes were as great as I had heard, but that's ok. Don't eat there if you don't want the live interaction while you're eating, but we thought it was fun.
The only meal we did no enjoy was at Epcot, Norway, we picked there for DD bd meal to see the Princesses, she enjoyed it, but the food was not our type.
We enjoyed our daily snacks being on the dining plan, the mickey ice cream bars are great! We did downtown Disney for one table service, Earl of Sandwich, it wasn't bad. My DS & DH rented a car and went to Kennedy Space Center, they enjoyed it very much, so if interested, check it out, it was easy to get there, we rented the car through AAA and the car was brought to the WL. Just to let you know, we made no ADR before we got there and I do not regret it, we made some after we got there, usually in the morning or the night before, just went to front desk and they did it for us. Very easy!
Now like some of you others that go to WDW often, we aren't one of those, we saved for a long time for this trip, but enjoyed it very much and will go again some day, but not in the near future.
Thanks again for all your help, others out there just starting to plan, it is well worth it to read these boards and take their advice, I'm glad I did and so is my DH!!!
