Hey All...
Planning our 1st ever WDW Family Vacation....WooHoo. 2Ad, 2Kids (8,6)
Going for Last week of April 08-8 Days. I have TONS of questions, but I will start with a few.
-------------------------------
Looks as though (from November/07 prices) we will be able to budget for a Moderate hotel with DDP. (BTW...when will I be able to check April 08 prices online?)
Learning that Mods have more to offer than Values but...
both Mods and Values only have 2 Doubles beds, right? Not Queens until Deluxe? Sharing a "Double" bed is pretty darn cramped!!
I can get 2 ROOMS at a Value for roughly the same price as 1 room at a Mod? $100 difference.
We can each have our own bed, 2 baths, etc..? I'm assuming that Values offer adjoining rooms?
I need to be convinced that 1 room at a Mod is better than 2 at a Value and why? If so what Mod is (in your opinions) that best for a 1st time family of 4.

What about the Family Suites at the All Star Music resort? I believe it is a queen bed in the master bedroom section of the suite and two pullouts in the living area. You also get a kitchenette and two full bathrooms. I know there is a post on here somewhere with all the info plus floorplans and prices. Hope this helps.

we stayed at a value last trip and had a king size bed so if you are looking at 2 rooms request one with king bed we stayed at pop and had a ball.

:goofy: :tinker:

I think the Mod resorts are sometimes better than the deluxe resorts. POFQ/POR are beautifully themed and so relaxing after a long day at the park. I've heard a lot of good things about Coronado Springs, although I've never stayed there. They also have whirlpools, which the values don't, if that comes into your planning at all. The values also don't have table service restaurants, so eating a TS meal would have to either be at another resort or in the parks. The Mod's also have two sinks in the bathroom, and the values don't.

Happy planning!

We always book our hotel room based on the type of trip we are going down for. We either go down and do a non stop park run, where we are in the park from am to pm. Then there are other trips where we are planning on a leisure trip where we actually entertain the thought of going swimming. :lmao: If we are going down to go to the parks all day then we choose a value resort. If not then we go for a deluxe resort! The way I also look at is with the money that you save by staying at a Value resort you can put toward souvenirs, or even an extra night at WDW. We have stayed at the All stars with 2 adults and 2 kids and we have not had a problem with the beds. I also think that the Value resorts have a more kid friendly theme over the mods. Also IMO I would not do the Magicial Express. We did it on our way home from our trip in July and we found that we lost a few hours on our last day in the park, because they pick you up so early and take you to a couple of other hotels to pick guests going home. Also they drop you off at a neutral area in the air port and where we had to go was on the complete other side of the airport, so we had to lug all of our luggage across the airport. Not fun. We noramlly take The Florida town car service, they pick you up right at your luggage pick up, drop you off right at your resort, then pick you back up at your hotel, the latest possible time they can to ensure you make your flight and get the most time in WDW. We wanted to try the Magicial express to see what it was all about and we will never do it again! To me the extra time and convience was worth paying a little extra. Hoep this helps!

Thanks for the tip on the Suites at ASMu... I am to look for the thread and info about them...

POR is a wonderful resort with beautiful theme and has plenty for your kids. Never stayed value but have stayed Deluxe and we still go back to Por!.
Doesn't mansion area have Queen beds or King? Ask around, these boards are amazing!!

Wherever you choose to stay have a WONDERFUL TIME!!!!

Okay...here you go. It's a very long thread but most of the info is on the 1st page with some additional new pics on the last page or so. They seem fantastic and probably perfect for your 1st trip. Will cost you about the same as a MOD but with way more to offer!!!

Enjoy your holiday!!!

PS - Here is a toll free # for WDW. You can book your trip, reserve dining and recreation, parties, magical express...everything!! Sometimes they can be long phone call!! 1-800-828-0228. I use it so often I know it by heart!!!

We have the same bed issues, and kids the same age. We rented DVC points through the DIS boards to stay at OKW in November. As best I can tell, they are the only DVC that has 2 queens, not a sleeper sofa. Last trip stayed at WL for the 2 queens and used AAA to book a better rate. We would have a miserable week if my DH does not get his beauty rest!!:flower3:

We were planning on staying in the family suites this past Feb, but got a discount code that made it $500 cheaper for 2 value resort rooms. We stayed at POP (3 adults, 2 kids and an infant) we had 2 bathrooms, 4 beds, 2 sinks and 2 tables. Plenty of room. The family suites never get a discount code and are usually more expensive than a moderate.

True enough but I would still prefer the suite over 2 rooms. Getting the kitchenette alone is worth it never mind a sep. bdrm with a QUEEN bed!!!

As for the cost compared to a Mod., the suites are MUCH larger than a Mod. room and, of course, have much more amenities than a room alone. For the money I would gladly pay a few $$ more for a full suite with 2 bathrooms, sep. bdrm and kitchentte than just paying for a slightly larger room than a value. Everybody is different though. Just my opinion! :thumbsup2
