1st timer cruiser...How do you know???

I booked a cat 6 deck 6 verandah room. We are assigned to 6620. I booked for the LAND/SEA package. May 2-6. I booked in June of this year. The price I got was 3970.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids 6 and 8. That includes tax and travel ins. We are staying at the BC for the land part. They said that was a savings of 3200.00. Is that really true that booking that far ahead you save that much? I find that hard believe. Also can you tell me about the location of 6620 and 6618. Also 6634-6642 we have those booked also. Those are deck 6 cat 7 blocked verandah rooms. We have a total of 7 staterooms booked 25 people big family vacation. I think that the price quote for the cat 7 rooms for 2 adults were 2700.00 tax and travel ins. included. Thank you

These rooms are all aft on deck 6. 6620 and 6618 are right near the aft elevators, which is very convenient. We usually like to stay near the aft elevators on deck 7. It's not noisy at all, and it makes it easier to get around the ship. The category 7 rooms are just a bit further aft, down the hall. These aren't really blocked, just have a smaller opening than the standard verandahs. One of them, 6634, used to be a category 6 room, but was re-classified. It has very little obstruction. The others have a large open-air porthole instead of the full verandah view.

I can't comment on the prices, as there are a lot of variables as to what is a good deal. The savings you've been quoted are likely based on the "brouchure" rate. In comparison to that, you probably did save quite a bit, but I'm not sure how often they actually get that rate for a room. For example, looking at a brouchure, the rate for a category 7 room on a 7-night cruise is $1249-$2199. We've been on 7 cruises (five in cat. 7) and have never paid $1249 for category 7. So the savings based on the brouchure rate are kind of sketchy. However, the earlier you book, the better your savings will be. The crusies are priced with a tiered structure. Each time X number of rooms are sold for a given cruise, the price will move to the next tier. The earlier you book, the lower the tier. This is an over-simplification, but I think it conveys the general idea of how DCL prices their cruises.

Thank you, It sounds like it is in your best interest to book as early as you can. I was hoping that being close to the elevator would not be to noisy.

We were in 7106 on our first cruise, and I was worried about the noise, too. It was never a problem. I never heard any noise attributable to the elevators. In fact, we liked the convenience of it so much, that we actually try to be closer to the elevators, if possible.
