Just curious what this gets you?

When DH last spoke to Disney on the phone, they told him not to forget to tell reception it's our first trip and they will give us a badge each (he thinks she said badge?? but knowing DH that will be wrong lol) and we are to wear them to let everyone know.

I'm guessing it might be so you get a bit of extra guidance here and there but just wondered if anyone had any enlightenment? :)

Yeah...Disney has "1st time" badges for anyone who is visiting...er...for their first time. You can pick them up at City Hall at the MK...just go to the desk and let them know. It doesn't really "get" you anything...it just lets people know that person is making their first trip.

Absolutely correct. :thumbsup2 Reception or Guest Services at any of the Parks will be able to give you all 'First Visit' badge. They've got badges for Anniversaries, Birthdays, Weddings and probably others that I can't remember just now :) We weren't aware of them for our first visit back in 2002, but have had badges for loads of other occasions since then. If you're wearing one CMs take even better care of you. :woohoo:

Thank you both!

Mrs TT, that's what I thought. Nice to know we'll be taken good care of :goodvibes

They don't get you anything as such but sometimes you'd get a little extra of something, and it makes the CM's aware it's your first visit if you need to ask them anything so they can explain in more detail :D

The birthday badges often get you birthday cakes at a meal, especially children and little extras. My daughter got a cake and a card signed by all the princesses at Akershus when she was wearing her birthday badge :D

Badges (or Buttons) are a fun thing, even if it's only to keep them as keepsakes.

Sometimes, you'll get some extra magic on some CMs part. But don't expect it to be a permanent cloud of pixie dust hanging around your kid.

On our last trip DW and I had the "happily ever after" button (it was our honeymoon and our 10th anniversary) and DS had, depending on his mood, the First visit, and the I'm celebrating (his birthday)

We had many "congratulations" from some CMs, a CM at a shop in Poly asked me to tell our story. And a photopass photographer at Goofy's meet and greet in camp minnie mickey (AK) had the people in line applaud us while we made a "special event" photo with goofy.

DS got special high 4s from CMs, as well as some special interaction with characters, such as handy manny for example.

Other than that, it's just a piece of metal with a pin in the back which will basically destroy the clothes it's pinned to (kidding ... almost)

Anyway it's a fun thing to wear

you can get them at your resort front desk, and at guest relations in DTD (and sometimes at the park) We had the "leap day" button in MK on feb 29th

That's a free keepsake, just get them.

see them here : http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/celebrations/customizations/

Oh it sounds fab! It's actually my birthday the day after we arrive but I don't like a lot of attention on me only so won't be mentioning that one to them

Thanks again all! It's getting so close now I can hardly contain myself!!!!
