1st Time with EVC in party-Questions

We are traveling in 2 weeks with our Grandfather who will need a ECV for the parks. I'm wondering how we go about rides and such. We will only be hitting the ones we feel he'll be able to handle but with rides like Peter Pan how would he get on with the moving belt? And do we just get in the regular line with his EVC? He is very elderly and on meds and we are trying to make this as fun for him as we can. I have seen on a few threads something about a GAC, what is that exactly? TIA

Most lines in the parks are mainstreamed, which means that he will be able to ride his ECV all the way up to the boarding area or to special seating in theaters. If an attraction had load and unload at different locations his ECV will magically show up at unload after leaving it at load.

There are some attractions where for various reasons (usually stairs) an ECV cannot go all the way; in those instances there is an alternate entrance to which he will be directed. Note that normally special treatment will be given to the disabled person plus five additional members of the party.

Almost all of the attractions can be slowed or even stopped to allow extra time to board or alight. However, Peter Pan and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority cannot be stopped.

You may find Posts #2 and #4 especially helpful. Note that we recommend rental of an ECV from an off-site vendor so it will be available to him at all times (some of the hotel corridors are very long) and the off-site rentals are much better than Disney's.

He will not need a GAC if he has an ECV or wheelchair. In the newer parks they will have you stand in the regular line unless you have fasspasses which you would use that line. For example Toy Story Mania has a mainstreamed line so you would have to set in line just like everyone else. Some of the older rides may use exits for example. Most rides will allow him to drive his ECV right up to the side of the ride vehicle. Some like Jungle Cruise allow him to ride in the ECV and some like Haunted Mansion require that he transfer to a wheelchair.

Just copy the list and learn it. If he needs water the restaurants will give guests water, ice and both ice and water. Nurse's station can store medications that need to be refrigerated and have a place to lie down. If a person needs to be cared for in private the guest can have someone in the party help them.
