Hello all my name is Jennifer been a member of this forum for a long time . Awhile ago I posted we were planning our 1st trip it never happened . This year I lost my dad March 16, 2017 he always wanted me to take my son's to Disney he left me some money to help me pay for our trip . I am hoping for a trip sometime next year . I just need help I don't know what to book when to book it .
I was looking at Feb 16- Feb 23 or Mar 26-Apr 2.

I have two both 13 & 8 My oldest has autism he doesn't really like big rides but he loves Disney ( what kid doesn't ) but he has been watching videos on youtube about families trips to Disney . I would love to have a character lunch or dinner where is the best place to go and how soon should I book it I have so many questions .

any help would be gladly appreciated
Thank you

I think a good place to start is a few minor but major choices....where do you want to stay? On or off property? If you go on what can you afford? Check out the disney website and look at what the resorts. If you go off property there is another forum on here that can help there.

Both sets of dates are good dates as far as weather. The flower and garden show should be going on in March. Feb can still be a little cool (at least for some of us who live this way) but nice weather.

My advice is to find a Disney planning book. There is so much information and different ways to do Disney that I think you should start with a book and then come back here and ask any specific questions you may have. Planning is the best part!

I'd stay away from Easter, especially for a first-timer. The February date is around President's day, but that shouldn't be nearly as bad as Easter. Do you plan to stay onsite? If so, are you wanting to plan for a value resort, a mod, or a deluxe?

I've been talking to my husband he says he wants to wait until our 8 yr old is tall enough to ride all the rides , right now he is 48 inches . Not sure if we will be going . But still doing my homework . When ever we do go we will be staying onsite at a value resort .

48 inches is tall enough for all the rides, I believe. The only exception is the Speedway to drive alone, I think is a little taller (but he can drive with an adult). Someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.
