I left a wake up call for 7:05a.m. but my little one was up way before then. I let the call come in and put it on the speaker phone and it was Mickey. My daughter kept telling all of us to hurry up the Mickey was waiting for her. We got ready and went to the Contemporary for breakfast at Chef Mickey's--I thought this would start off my daughter's birthday in the right way. Only us girls went--my step father was still tired and decided to sleep in a little (or so I thought but more on that later). Breakfast was great and the best part was that the first character to come to our table was Mickey. We got some great pictures and his was the first autograph in my daughter's book. After breakfast we walked around the resort and decided that while it was nice, it wasn't anywhere that we ever wanted to stay when we returned.
Went back to the Wilderness Lodge and met up with my step father who said that the general manager of the resort had called and wanted to see me. I went to the front desk and met with a woman named Marquite(sp?). She was very apologic about what had happened with the rooms and the absence of our package benefits upon our arrival. She said that they could give us smoking rooms now but that they would be on the 2nd floor and didn't have the best of views of anything or we could stay put and what we did in the rooms was our business (and she handed me 2 glass ashtrays as she was saying this). I opted to stay put in the rooms that we had. At first I was confused on how she knew these things and then she told me that my step father had been down there to talk to her that morning. She then told me that we would find magic everywhere we went if I could give her our itinerary for our stay. I did and then she asked if there was anything else that we had wanted to do that we were unable to get in and I asked again about becoming a flag family and she said it was done. They already had a family scheduled for the day that we wanted to do it so she arranged for there to be 2 tours and 2 raisings of the flags. I had really wanted to do this for my step father since he is retired Air Force and those kind of things really mean something to him. She then asked me some questions that I thought were kind of silly at the time. She asked what my favorite Disney characters were and my daughter's favorites. I thanked her and then went back to the rooms to get the rest of my family so we could go to MGM studios.
We got to MGM around 11 a.m. and went and saw Beauty and the Beast which was fantasic. We then went to see the Little Mermaid, rode the Rock 'N Roller coaster and the Tower of Terror. My daughter was really scared of the TOT and said she was never going to trust me again lol. Wasn't my fault--I begged her not to get on it. The park closed around 4 p.m. so we did a little shopping and headed back to the lodge.
We went up to the rooms and there were balloons and signs all over the doors saying Happy 5th Birthday for my daughter. We then went into the rooms and there were balloons everywhere. I do mean everywhere--they were even in the bathrooms. There was a stuffed Tigger wrapped in her blanket sitting on the table with some chocolates for her. There was a autograpghed picture of Mickey and Minnie wishing her a Happy Birthday. There was also an autographed picture and birthday card from Cinderella. It was great. About a half an hour after we got back to the rooms, there was a knock on the door and it was room service. None of us had ordered anything so we were confused. It was a beautiful birthday cake and card from the staff at the lodge. We then walked in to the other bedroom and there was an autographed picture of Pooh and Friends with a totem pole of the Pooh Gang left for me. There was also a note from the staff saying that these gifts were for me for the trouble that I had upon check in. The maids had done a great job in arranging her stuffed animals on the couch watching T.V.--looked like a party going on :). We rested a bit and then headed to Fort Wilderness for the Hoop Dee Doo show.
The dinner show was great and the food was delicous. We had a great time. I would do this show again. After the show, we headed back to the Lodge to get some much needed sleep. We were in the room only a little while when we could hear the music for the EWP and we watched it from our balconies. We then headed to bed. My daughter and I were laying there just talking when we heard what we thought was someone in the room banging around. It went on for awhile when I finally got up to see what was going on and it was then that we all noticed that we could see fireworks over the Main Lodge from the windows. So we watched and then went to sleep. It was a great day.

WOW! Boy did they make up for it! lol Sounds like you guys were having a blast! That was extremely nice of them to do that for your daughter (and you and your family too!)

OH MY GOSH! You really got a lot of magic on this day. Must have really made up for the inconvenience you experienced on check in. I have to wonder what your Stepfather actually said to the manager. Whatever it was it worked.

Thanks for telling us about this day, I had fun reading about it.
